I'm buying a guitar...

Featured Replies

In about a month i'm going to buy a guitar. The problem is that i don't know which one i'm going to buy :P It's definetly going to be an electric one (strat/tele or similar). I'm not thinking about a very expencive one (between $200-$380). If anyone have any idea about which one i should buy, please tell me :P

PS: I'm not sure what's the difference between the Stratocaster and the Telecaster, could anyone tell me? :)

Good luck with your guitar hunt! I don't know anything about electrics.... but I hope you can find a decent one for your price range.. Don't forget you'll also probably need an amp and a guitar case... Some guitars come with a crappy case.. you'll want to get a hard case. You might already know this.. just trying to help out!

Hehe. Thanks anyway :)

hmm...if there's a Sam Ash store near you, a Fender Standard Strat should be about $350-$380.....I think.

The telecaster sounds sharper, clearer than a strat. If I were you I'd buy a Squier or a Fender telecaster (72' custom and thinline are really good tele's).

a friend of mine has a mexican telecaster hollowbody. its very nice, and much cheaper...

when i was in your position- thinking about buying a guitar i got a cheap second hand one just to learn and practise on and then when you get quite good upgrade to a better guitar, if you already have an acoutsic or something and you are relativly good at playing it then i would invest in a good- hand made- original guitar that above all is nice to look at, there is nothing worse than buying a guitar which is ugly. That is my advice to you! 8)

Depends on what kind of sound you're going for... If you're going for a "bluesy" sound GO WITH THE TELECASTER! If you're going for straight up distortion and/or punk sound, go for the stratocaster.

Lotsa beginners go with a Squier Stratocaster but you've got a little more money to spend so depending on what you fancy, a Telecaster or Stratocaster would be in your price range.

I got a strat too... they're awesome!!! As for a buying a guitar - squire is a good place to start for a cheap copy of a top range model. The ones they make these days are almost identical to the real thing, they just don't say 'fender'
