guxt
I'm not impressed with any of the new songs of Coldplay that I´ve listened to so far. I´m a big, big fan of Coldplay. I spent a lot of money to see them live here in my country (400 argentinian pesos, it´s a month salary for some people). I saw them live in Miami when I was living there. I waited for the last album almost sleeping beside the music store. But after listening to the new singles, what I can say, I´m not impressed. I remember when I listened to every single of the last albums, and I was so pleased, almost in tears. But Violet Hill or Viva La Vida, aren´t so good to make me feel that this next album is going to be a great album. Maybe I´m so excited about the new album, that I´m afraid to be dissappointed. I don´t know. I´m not complaining, I really want Viva La Vida to be a great album. But I´m not sure what is going to happen! Please, help me to relax!!!!! Aleluvscp
calm down... it's totally fine that you're not pleased with the new songs.. it's simply not the type of music that you're into. But look at the bright side... you've still got many old Coldplay songs to love forever.. they're not going anywhere. I completely understand what you mean cuz that's kinda how I feel too.. except I am impressed by some of the songs. Listen to the album and if you don't like it.. then you don't like it.. but don't freak out. When I listened to X&Y I didn't like it much but I kept listening to their old songs and everything was fine.... I hope I'm helping cuz you sound all freaked out :shocked2:
guxt
Thanks for your answer. It seems that there some fans that try hard to love the new songs. I know that we have to listen more than one time a song to like it or not, but to me, it seems that some people try too hard. It´s like: I have to like it, Its Coldplay!! But we have to be prepared for a weak album too. It could happen!!!

Dharma108
While Violet Hill is a step in the right direction, VLV is two steps in the wrong direction. I could live with the synch sounds if done properly but this song has no fire to it. I cant see any other song on the album being worse....hopefully. devzors
oh well The new songs are exactly as the band said- different, but still Coldplay. It's a bummer you don't like the new singles because they are incredible songs. I wish you luck in overcoming your distastefulness.
Dharma108
A Spell a Rebel Yell made me wonder what the hell they were thinking, but I like the other one's enough. While I cant stand VLV, APARY has grown on me. At least you can kinda hear Coldplay in the song. VLV sounds like it belongs in a club or something. BTW I have been listening to the band since day one and IMO VLV is the worst song they have ever made.
Taylorrissey
you don't HAVE to like everything they do. Just because you've invested alot of time and money into the band, you're not in a commitment to them. Nobody is going to get hurt if you stop listening to them. You're not married to Coldplay. There is sooooooooo much good music out there. (plenty of other fish in the sea) Maybe I'm just not a music romantic, I dunno.
rastelin
I was hesitant to reply to this square... You have had to be a coldplay fan, since square one, since everything is not lost, to understand the deepness of these singles. This is a journey lyrically, personally and on a surface that can be understood by the depth and purity of the common fan. For those displeased with Chris, and his lyrics and the band, COLDPLAY, so be it.. For me at a tender age of 31, and in fully understanding of Violet hill and viva, and also LOST, I can say I can understand this viewpoint, and expression, being a poet and writer myself I respect the surroundings of this band and their acheivements.. Without bands like Coldplay and a very select few, we would have no expression, no voice being the small minority in this world that dreams of HOPE, and love and persaveriance, of the human race... IN addtion the timing of this album relase this singe violet hill is majestic, and forthcoming, towareds the ambition of hope and perservance of the desire to make a differance.. We are living in a very dangerous world now, and it is continuously escalating... I will listen to this album each and everytime as if its the last time I hear it. I will love it each and everytime... I do not fully understand why I like this rythm this form of musical artwork but it works for me.. I hope this help in the understanding of their artwork, I will definalty be at their local concert.. My Xmas present... PEACE
Taylorrissey
Who was that directed to, rastelin? Guxt, Look at the past albums: The single and the title track Yellow and Parachutes were not the best two songs on Parachutes Clocks and A Rush of Blood were not to the two best songs on A Rush Of Blood to the Head Speed of Sound and X&Y were not the two best songs on X&Y There are going to be some awesome songs on this album would probably be the general theme of this postl

Pseudonym
Hey Chris even said "Not everyone will like our new album" But you will always ahve their old stuff, and maybe youll like some of the b-sides or their next album. Never stop believing1 BTW: Dont freak out yet. You dont like these singles, but maybe the other songs will be different. Dont judge the entire album based on a few songs. Listen to it with an open mind, you might end up liking most of it!
BethWhalley
A Spell a Rebel Yell made me wonder what the hell they were thinking, but I like the other one's enough. It's only a B-side. Don't lose hope yet!
42!
Don't judge the album until you've heard the whole thing. I'm not crazy about Violet Hill either, but VLV and LIT are great, and there are 10 songs I still haven't heard yet! Just listen to the album a couple times through. If you don't like it, oh well.... at least you gave it a chance. :) Also keep in mind that they're due for a bad album. I mean X&Y wasn't everybody's favorite, but it's not a bad album, not even close. I'm talking about a complete flop on the charts and in (some) fans hearts. I get the feeling this wont be (chart-wise) with LP4, but you never know. If this is going to happen, it will happen with an experimental album. And LP4 is definitely an experimental album. Aleluvscp
I think Coldplay already had their worst album (not a bad album... but probably their worst) ^(Every post above) Newbies attack! sorry but that seems to me like a pretty ridiculous comment. Like.... wtf does it matter?? I hope you're not gonna give me the whole "being a newbie is not a bad thing" bullshit ...no one believes it The fact that they (or us) are new does not mean we're evil or don't know shit about what we're saying ...so obviously something like "newbies attack" is not a great compliment for people who just joined
Open-Politik
I dont how anyone in their right mind, Coldplay fan or not cannot like Viva La Vida? Its FUCKING awesome!!!!!
Steppenwolf
I cant believe there are people out there who dont like Viva la Vida. My brother cant stand Coldplay, but he loved the song.
Tarkovsky2
Viva la vida is worst song they have created,it's rubish, it's like very definite, very definition of pop song without creativity, and just because of that you all love that song because it's too easy to like that easy song on first listening, but coldplay always had something mysterious, something you got to search! All other songs are great, well songs that I've heard, violet hill has sincerity and small revolution going on, Lost! is great, very oriental and with african inffluence that gives that oniric level, you can smell life, also, Life in technicolour is very interesting and lovers in Japan, it's very, very sincere. So you listen to Rihana, or smtg like that and then you all love Viva la vida, it's too easy song, but the album is going to be great. Steppenwolf
Well, I don`t know if you can generalize like that. Music is not an equation and statements like: if you listen to Rihanna => you`re gonna like Viva la vida don`t make much of a sense. VlV is a great song, with great lyrics and melody. Just because you don`t like it doesn`t mean that there is a problem with the ones who do. Obviously it is a matter of taste. Yet, I`m surprised to see that there are some who dislike that song, because everyone I have sent it to, liked it.
