Viva la vida is worst song they have created' date='it's rubish, it's like very definite, very definition of pop song without creativity ...So you listen to Rihana, or smtg like that and then you all love Viva la vida, it's too easy song, but the album is going to be great.[/quote'] That's YOUR opinion...not everybody's fact

...I don't agree with this categorization... I like VLV and don't like Rihanna ......this is just ridiculous

It`s kind of like to say that it`s not worth hearing other piano compositions than Rachmaninov`s, because everything else is simple compared to him. Great music is sometimes (very often in fact) simple.

if you don't like the new music there is nothing we can do. its up to you to keep listening to enjoy it. if that fails i'm sorry you don't like it

i agree, I made a mistake comparing it to rihana, but what i meant was that's just,FOR ME, commercial, but offcourse, everybody has it's own opinion.Love coldplay

aw you're now ok :D..but you do have a bit of a point .. I don't think the song itself is commercial but I think one way or another it will become a commercialized song.

I've said it once and I'll say it again .... I miss the times when I used to say "I like Coldplay" and people would be like "who??"

Yes, like this is big song, but I don't hear their voices in it, you know, lyrics are great but that song is just from the begining created with 100% posibility of being popular and I imagine housevifes cooking and singing: Jerusalem bells are ringing...Well, thank's for listening me, greetings from serbia.:)

haHAahaHa I sing that when I'm doing chores around the house :laugh3:

greetings from Italy :) oh and welcome to the forum

Sounds better then the first single from their last album. I usually dont dig their first single their release from their new albums.

looking forward to grabbing VLV!

I think its commercial because its that FLIPPIN good. The fact everyone can love it, Coldplay fans Radiohead fans , Oasis fans and Spice Girls fans.

Its Bloody Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

Viva la vida is worst song they have created,it's rubish, it's like very definite, very definition of pop song without creativity, and just because of that you all love that song because it's too easy to like that easy song on first listening, but coldplay always had something mysterious, something you got to search! All other songs are great, well songs that I've heard, violet hill has sincerity and small revolution going on, Lost! is great, very oriental and with african inffluence that gives that oniric level, you can smell life, also, Life in technicolour is very interesting and lovers in Japan, it's very, very sincere. So you listen to Rihana, or smtg like that and then you all love Viva la vida, it's too easy song, but the album is going to be great.

I totally agree with you. VLV is by far the worst Coldplay song ever. The sound and especially the lyrics are total shit. They used to sing about personal issues like a lost love or questions about life. Now they are singing about Jerusalem and churches...who gives a shit!!!

Whats more disturbing to me is that so many Coldplay fans love this song and only a small minority hates it. Guess those in the minority dont listen to pop music like the rest of you. Bet you like New Kids On The Block also. LOL

oh my f****** God... you can't seriously be ignorant enough to say that shit

Coldplay fans aren't like THIS or like THAT. So according to you.. If you're a Coldplay fan and you listen to pop then you'll like VLV ...and if you're a Coldplay fan and don't listen to pop then you'll hate VLV ...WTF????????

I listen to Radiohead, Muse, Foo Fighters, and Incubus to name a couple of bands. I'll even listen to Tool & System of a Down. So as you can see VLV doesn't fit into my tastes. VLV is a total pop commercial songs its ridiculous. So who do you listen to?

I've listened to all of those bands at one point or another in my life. Radiohead, Muse, Foo still to this day. The Foo Fighters in fact are my second favourite band behind Coldplay. And I happen to like Viva La Vida a whole hell of a lot.

wow 'dharma' that's pretty ridiculous of you to say. i listen to absolutely NO pop music. im a huge radiohead fan and everything else i listen to is pretty indie but i LOVE VlV. in my opinion some of the bands you listen too (especially incubus) are complete shit. however i have friends who like them and still LOVE viva la vida. like i said, i listen to absolutely no pop music and i think viva la vida is one of the best songs coldplay has ever made. you shouldn't stereotype coldplay fans by listening to pop music because actually most of us on here have pretty diverse taste in music. sorry if that seemed rude but your post just really bugged me.

It's very true Boston. If I had to name my top bands they;d be Coldplay, Foo, Arcade Fire, Oasis & Broken Social Scene. At times I'll listen to Radiohead, Stars, Death from Above 1979, The Stones, Bob Marley, Bedouin Soundclash. That's pretty diverse and most certainly not your "typical" coldplay pop lover. Most of us are living proof it's not true.

I HATE pop music with PASSION but I still love VLV. I don't think it's pop at all, I can't remember the last time Flo Rida, rihanna, Avril, Madonna etc... used a whole damn orchestra in their songs. VLV is brilliant both musically and lyrically IMO.

btw my top bands after Coldplay are Radiohead, Muse, Oasis, Keane, Arcade Fire, REM and others.

You didn't get impressed?

Cry. A LOT, coz you'll have to stand the same old songs for 3~4 years more 'til a new album.

I try not to think in terms of pop and not-pop (although that's how I find myself classifying things). If one places so much emphasis on that then your overall view of good music and bad, music you like vs. the music you dislike will be blurred and corrupted...There's tons of bad music out on pop radio but then when a band comes up with a great song that gets tossed in the wrong pile, it too gets overplayed and hated by many, even though it would've been perfectly acceptable had it never had radio play.

What I hate about pop and pop radio is it saturates music, breaks songs down, shortens them abbreviates solos and makes it into kool-aid mix (just add water).

Remember that coldplay doesn't go out of their way to please the masses, and they know not everyone will like the new album. And when I heard viva la vida I liked it. The instumentation was uncharacteristic but it's far from blatant pop like one-republics "apologize" has become. Remember that they worked out and composed the complex arrangements, they didn't just attach lyrics to someone else's symphony. I personally think that we'll be surprised by the live show and that many of the strings interludes will be transposed to guitar.

That out of the way, at the very least, it's a good song. Althoguh it is primarily a strings arrangement the lack of any of the crud that hip-hop artists would usually throw in maintains a type purity throughout it. It's not overdone or saturated, in fact it's quite original when you come to think of it. Verse, Chorus, Bridge and outro, I can't find anything particularly wrong with it.

I`VE ANTICIPATED THIS ALBUM FOR SO LONG NOW I WOULD LOVE IT NO MATTER WHAT----

EVEN IF IT`S JUST BATHROOM SOUNDS OF CHRIS`S GARGLE, SPIT AND RINSE!:stunned:

(just bring on the album, boys!)

the singles are fine to me and everyone i know...people are playing them in their cars Mr. Chris Martin because someone just drove past my house with Violet Hill blaring out their windows!!! It made my day.:smug:

I understand you all completely, but please it's not such a big deal to have orchestra in song, this is not what makes song inventive, it seems that coldplay with this album want to be more creative, inventive, want an experiment, but sorry this isn't that, there is no courage to call violins, trumpets etc, it isn't enough, yes, arcade fire has it in neon bible, but can you fewel the difference,it's not bad song but ist isn't briliant. We all love coldplay, so this discussion just shows it.:)

THANK YOU! Saved me alot of typing...

ps VLV (the single) RULES!

the singles are fine to me and everyone i know...people are playing them in their cars Mr. Chris Martin because someone just drove past my house with Violet Hill blaring out their windows!!! It made my day.:smug:

Violet Hill gets played in my car....but VLV hasnt and will never get played while I am driving. If it does I might crash my car! Seriously I would say its the ONLY Coldplay I absolutely despise. But hey...I guess its just me.

ok wether you play it in your car or not.. doesn't really matter :dozey:
