Right, I went to see this film last night, and I have to say I wasn't expecting much of it..

But Harrison Ford was brilliant, and the whole movie was great fun!

The only thing I'm slightly dubious about is the plot, especially the last bit in the temple (If you've seen it you know what I mean, if you haven't, don't read this thread...)

So, whats the general verdict amongst those who've seen the film? Love it or Hate it?

Liked it a lot

First post for me, about Indiana Jones though ha

But yeah I thought Ford was great as always, and that it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. And I agree with you about the plot, the aliens themselves are very unoriginal. Kate Blanchett annoyed me a little too... maybe thats just hold over from not liking her in Don't Look Back. And I think Shia Lebauf (sp?) was a terrible miscast, he was ok, but nothing special and really just had me laughing at how ridiculous he looked in his Brando/Dean get up.

Overall it was a lot of fun though

I forgot the woman was Kate Blanchett until the very end, so it didn't annoy me too much!

Shia was much better in Holes and Transformers, you're right!

And as for the aliens. ALIENS!?!?! What the hell.

There shouldn't be aliens. Its turning into Stargate. I kept waiting for Richard Dean Anderson to pop up!! (Nothing wrong with stargate btw!)

The effects of the aliens at the end in the spinning room were amazing though! :P

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee....... It was so good!! :nice:

Here I was so afraid of having to deal with Indy getting old, and now I want to know what was happening for the last 15...20 years with the war and everything. Yeah, the aliens were dumb (though the multidimensional thing was neat- how they were all one alien), but other than that it was brilliant. And Shia was adorable. You're supposed to laugh at him a bit- he was trying to try too hard it's the point. But very well done on his part.

So much fun.

Yeah I know what you mean, I just thought he was ok, but not bad by any means. He was very funny in some parts, I loved the motorcycle chase through campus. And the jeep fight was one of the best action scenes Spielburgs done in awhile, and Shia was great in that, had me laughing the whole time. And I guess if they had someone else play him who is more serious it would have taken away from the mood they were going for with the character.

And yes the aliens were very stupid, and very unoriginal as aliens go. Like they took the most cliche alien you can have and put them in the movie. The special effects were incredible in some parts, but overused and fake looking in others, where you could clearly tell that it was computer generated and it took away from the scene

I quite liked it! I don't know if I could compare it to the previous Indy movies, but I really enjoyed it and Harrison Ford kicked ass! :D And Shia Labeouf was pretty great. :nice: Loved him since his Even Stevens days.

Great film, I loved it. It doesn't take itself too seriously which I love, Harrison Ford is amazing. I loved the jokes about his age, and that they had his fear of snakes in there again too :P

Ford was great. Shia Labeouf was fine too. But I thought the plot was a big mess.

It was fun, but didn't have the "magic" of the previous movies.

I am with you! The movie was great until the last part of the temple and the aliens!!!

What is it with Spielberg and the aliens?

ET and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind are great movies. But here it wasn't handled in a very good way. It was just as bad as War Of The Worlds, a movie that was full of plot holes as well.

ET is a great movie, least from what I remember. I haven't seen it since I was a kid. Close encounters is too.

War of the Worlds was pretty ridiculous with the plot holes, recently though he has made a bunch of really awesome movies. Munich was amazing, and I really liked Minority Report

Yeah, those are great. It's not like he lost his touch the last couple of years. :)

Yeah he has been really great... George Lucas on the other hand

I will wait until it comes out onto DVD to add it to my rental list on Lovefilm.

I can't help but like this film, the way it is sort of a parody of the whole indina Jones series is great. Or as someone else said up here, that it doesn't take itself so seriously.

The end could have been better, but it was definetly enjoyable.

You can tell that Speilberg knows what he is doing when he is making films.

man...the guy next to me was laughing hysterically! I couldn't help it but laugh as well... I was laughing at him more than anything though

Haha, that's pretty funny. There was a guy when I saw it who was having a blast too, it did put a good vibe into the theater. I think he was drunk or something though, he pretty much couldn't stop laughing

I like the whole movie, except for the aliens part. The idea of the crystal skull is interesting but I guess you need to read some history books to find the truth about Mayas and Incas.

i thought it was disappointing....they should have brought back the little asian kid from the goonies. but i just thought this plot conflicted with all the other indiana jones, the first one was about God's ark of the covenenant, and the last one was about eternal life by drinking from Jesus' cup. and suddenly there are aliens and crazy psychic russians everywhere. i've enjoyed shia lebeouf in the past, he was great in disturbia, transformers, even holes, but this movie wasn't meant for him.

I didn't feel that it really recaptured the spirit of the older movies... but Harrison Ford nailed being Indy again... it was just the general script that was the problem.

After 19 years I didn't think it was worthwhile as much as LC, that movie felt a lot bigger and more interesting and had a better story to tell... plus it ended perfectly with everyone riding into the sunset. How better to say goodbye to Indy?

... we didn't need to know what happens to Indy honestly.

Heroes either die young or live long enough to become the villain.

did anyone else notice it was practically the exact same ending as national treasure 2?

I've never seen National Treaure 2 so I wouldn't know, it's probably close if you noticed it. I really thought the aliens were a terrible choice though, I was really enjoying it up until the end, it kind of ruined it for me

definitely didn't like the aliens, ruined the film for me, which i thought was pretty cool til that point.

and wtf with Indy getting married? that was so pants. and they better not be setting that boy up to be an Indy replacement. Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford, no-one else will do

I liked it for the most part but the part at the temple was a bit meh. :blank: Loved all the cast though! :D
