woah this is amazing!! :wacky:

and I think Colombia's the only country that doesn't like Coldplay :laugh3: ..damn reggaeton :dozey:

Yeah Coldplay definitely sold 40,000 in the first week and then 25 to 15 the next few.

140k shipped would sound right because the sales certainly still don't match up to it

Anyway, is there a way to know the exact number of all the sold digital copies of Viva La Vida?

It's impossible to know worldwide figures.

In the UK, it sold 131,000 copies until last week.

Updated to July, 11th 2008

With Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends, Coldplay beat every record in sales. It was announced as the most awaited album of 2008, and the single Violet Hill, made available for free from the official site of the band, was downloaded by 2.060.000 people.

In the first week, the fourth album has reached the first position in 20 countries no less and it has become the best selling release on iTunes till now.

Moreover, it has been the most wanted, booked and pre-ordered album on online sale websites, such as Amazon, HMV.com and Play.com.

On June 23rd 2008, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends has become part of the international music scene by rights, because the second single Viva La Vida scored the Number 1 both in UK and US, beating the record held by Rod Stewart in 1971 with the song ‘Maggie May’.

On July 3rd 2008, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends set another world record, becoming officially the top selling album in the history of digital sales. In only two weeks, the new work of Chris Martin’s band has sold 354,000 digital copies, beating the record held by the album of John Mayer, Continuum (353,000 downloads since its release in September 2006).

The sales have been so huge that the track album Lost!, strongly indicated to be the third single from the album after Violet Hill and Viva La Vida, even though not officially until now, has obtained a ranking in the most-wanted singles chart in UK and in Mediabase Alternative Chart.

Also other tracks, such as Life In Technicolor, Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love, Yes and Cemeteries Of London have 'entered' some national charts.

'Viva La Vida' Lives Large On Euro Chart

July 24, 2008 - Global

By Paul Sexton, London

The top two titles on Billboard's European Top 100 Albums chart are unchanged, with "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" (Parlophone/EMI) at No.1 for Coldplay for a fifth week. Its predecessor at the top, Duffy's "Rockferry" (A&M/Universal), holds at No. 2, also for the fifth week in a row.

"Vida" still holds the chart reins in Holland, Ireland, Finland, Switzerland and Greece, and moves back 2-1 in Germany. But it's down to No. 2 in the United Kingdom, France and the Belgian region of Wallony. Weekly U.K. sales of 34,000 to last weekend give the album a running total there of 742,000. The single "Viva La Vida" is up 13-8 in Italy.
