As regards the singles of Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, we have to point out the success of Life In Technicolor ii in the world and the 'establishment' of Lovers In Japan. - - - - - With Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends, Coldplay beat every record in sales. It was announced as the most awaited album of 2008, and the single Violet Hill, made available for free from the official site of the band, was downloaded by 2.060.000 people. In the first week, the fourth album has reached the first position in 20 countries no less and it has become the best selling release on iTunes till now. Moreover, it has been the most wanted, booked and pre-ordered album on online sale websites, such as Amazon, HMV.com and Play.com. On June 23rd 2008, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends has become part of the international music scene by rights, because the second single Viva La Vida scored the Number 1 both in UK and US, beating the record held by Rod Stewart in 1971 with the song ‘Maggie May’. On July 3rd 2008, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends set another world record, becoming officially the top selling album in the history of digital sales. In only two weeks, the new work of Chris Martin’s band has sold 354,000 digital copies, beating the record held by the album of John Mayer, Continuum (353,000 downloads since its release in September 2006). The sales have been so huge that the track album Lost!, strongly indicated to be the third single from the album after Violet Hill and Viva La Vida, even though not officially until now, has obtained a ranking in the most-wanted singles chart in UK and in Mediabase Alternative Chart. Also other tracks, such as Life In Technicolor, Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love, Yes and Cemeteries Of London have 'entered' some national charts. - - - - - In bold format the new entries or/and the updates! - - - - - Album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008) Number of copies sold in the world during first week of release: 1.585.000 Number of copies sold in Uk during first 10 days: 500.052 Number of copies sold in USA during first week: 721.000 (316.000 in the first day) The most sold album in digital download format of all time Best selling album in iTunes history until now (2,2 million copies sold) The most wanted, booked and pre-ordered album on online sale websites, such as Amazon, HMV.com and Play.com The most sold album in Europe in one week only, since 2005 The first album in music history that has ever reached Gold certification in USA just with paid digital downloads (514.000) Peak charts positions (updated to February 23rd, 2009): - 01ª United World Chart (7.176.400 copies sold, cd and vinyl copies) (Usa, Canada, Japan, Uk, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Poland, New Zealand, Malaysia, Argentina) - 01ª European Chart (2.000.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª UK (1.141.338 copies sold, 3x Platinum) - 01ª USA (2.298.566 copies sold, with 665.109 copies sold in digital format and 13.900 copies sold in vynil format, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Italy (227.438 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Argentina (80.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Australia (236.135 copies sold, 3x Platinum) - 01ª Austria (20.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 01ª Belgium (50.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 01ª Brazil (45.000 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª Canada (334.000 copies sold, with 46.700 copies sold in digital format, 4x Platinum) - 01ª Chile (7.500 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª Cyprus - 01ª Croatia - 01ª Egypt - 01ª Korea (15.000 copies sold) - 01ª Denmark (20.000 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª United Arab Emirates - 01ª Finland (15.000 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª France (500.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Germany (400.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Greece (7.500 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª Ireland (100.000 copies sold) - 01ª Israel - 01ª Luxembourg - 01ª Malaysia - 01ª Mexico (42.000 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 01ª Norway - 01ª New Zealand (30.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Netherlands (171.556 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Portugal (20.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 01ª Spain (80.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 01ª Sweden (40.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 01ª Switzerland (30.000 copies sold, 2x Platinum) - 01ª Taiwan - 01ª Tokio Hot 100 Albums Chart - 01ª Uruguay - 02ª Netherlands Antilles - 02ª Estonia (5.100 copies sold, 1x Gold) - 02ª Japan (328.521 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 02ª Czech Republic - 02ª Poland (20.000 copies sold, 1x Platinum) - 03ª India - 03ª Russia - 04ª Serbia - 04ª Hungary - 16ª Colombia Best iTunes charts positions: - 01ª USA - 01ª UK - 01ª France - 01ª Germany - 01ª Australia - 01ª Austria - 01ª Belgium - 01ª Canada - 01ª Denmark - 01ª Finland - 01ª Greece - 01ª Ireland - 01ª Italy - 01ª Japan - 01ª Luxembourg - 01ª Netherlands - 01ª New Zealand - 01ª Norway - 01ª Portugal - 01ª Spain - 01ª Sweden - 01ª Switzerland Best Billboard Albums charts positions: - 01ª U.S. Billboard Top Digital Albums - 01ª U.S. Billboard Top Internet Albums - 01ª U.S. Billboard Top Rock Albums - 01ª U.S. Billboard Comprehensive Albums ------------------- Boxset Parachutes/A Rush Of Blood To The Head/Live 2003 Gift Pack (2008) Greece: 46ª Estonia: 47ª France: 134ª ------------------- Prospekt's March (2008) (updated to February, 23rd 2009): - 24ª United World Chart (384.500 copies sold) (Usa, Canada, Japan, Uk, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Poland, New Zealand, Malaysia, Argentina) - 04ª Norway - 07ª Egypt - 07ª India - 08ª Finland - 09ª Argentina - 15ª Japan (18.210 copies sold) - 15ª New Zealand - 15ª USA (124.495 copies sold) - 17ª Estonia - 17ª United Arab Emirates - 25ª Italy (15.500 copies sold) - 26ª Canada - 35ª Spain - 36ª Ireland - 38ª Mexico - 38ª UK (60.000 copies sold, 1x Silver) - 32ª Greece - 46ª Austria - 47ª Germany - 49ª Australia Best iTunes charts positions: - 01ª Australia - 01ª Belgium - 01ª Netherlands - 02ª Finland - 02ª Italy - 02ª Norway - 02ª USA - 03ª Canada - 03ª Belgium - 03ª France - 03ª Japan - 03ª Portugal - 03ª Sweden - 03ª Uk - 04ª Austria - 04ª Denmark - 04ª Germany - 04ª Greece - 04ª Finland - 04ª Ireland - 04ª Luxembourg - 04ª Spain - 05ª New Zealand - 06ª Czech Republic - 06ª Switzerland -------------------- Singles Here we report the best positions of all time reached in every chart (updated to February, 23rd 2009): The Goldrush (2009) U.K. Singles Chart: 139ª Lhuna [feat.
