cleeson7 Posted June 9, 2008 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Don't get me wrong I love Coldplay i really do and I love the album its there best yet. But I just feel after seeing the live performances that theres something wrong with Will and Guy Mentally. Chris is very much best friends with Jonny and it seems while performing Chris Acknowledges Jonny way more than the other two. It makes you wonder if there is jealousy or slight envy from Will and Guy. I hope im wrong i really do as they have in the past seemed really close as a unit but Guy (I no his is shy) doesn't seem quite with it he seems very distant. Musically no problems from any of the four but i just hope they stay together as a group and move upwards and onwards... not that they could get much higher. Don't slate me its my opinion and I hope im wrong, i could just be paranoid as i want coldplay to be shown as the greatest band in the world Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I get the feeling chris and jonny are just more passionate about the music while guy and will are more in it for the job...... I think Chris is a very passionate person and as he's said can be annoying and maybe Guy and Will have a lower tolerance of that than Jonny. Chris is closest to Jonny and Will is closest to Guy, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm positive that they all love each other and are the best of friends, and that Chris and Jonny being buddy-buddy doesn't cause a rift. And Chris seems to be the most talkative- he has to be since he's the lead singer and all. And the other three are painfully shy, but I think Jonny's the one that will at least try and do interviews, that's probably why you see him and Chris interviewed together a lot. Will is always off somewhere, never with the band, Guy is shy but so is Jonny. Chris and is always all over Jonny but that's just because of the passion, I mean, look at my avatar. We don't see Chris kissing Will do we? But you know what else sucks? is that I saw a video of Chris and Jonny and they were saying "Oh yeah, blah blah blah, we're basically the creators so Guy and Will are replaceable. You can't replace us. " or something in that context. I was like WHAT!!! Are you kidding me?! That's terrible. I think it was in this video. deaths_friend Posted June 10, 2008 Share Posted June 10, 2008 i too have noticed chris paying much more attention jonny than the other two. the band does lack some chemistry on stage and thats evident during all their shows. this might seem superficial but the mere fact that they stand so far apart during their concerts shows that lack of chemistry. which is why i like it when they all come down to the front of the stage and do don't panic and til kingdom come, its something unique and interesting and somewhat fun to watch. if you ever watch the chili peppers perform there always tight knit and talking to each other even if there performing on massive 150ft stages. but those guys have been together for over 15yrs now, so its a bit different but at the end of the coldplay are a pop band and like all other pop bands the frontman will always get the most attention followed by the guitarist. and the fact of the matter is that guy and will make up the rhytmn section of the band so unless you have a very good understanding on music you have little or no idea of how important and integral they are too the sound of coldplay. Posted June 10, 2008 Share Posted June 10, 2008 I too see the same, but I didn't dare to tell you. they've obviously changed and something between them got colder. chris seems more nervous to me than ever like he tries to smooth away difficulties. in that Hour show guy also said that there are lots of difficulties between them which are hard to see...as far as I understood him at least. no, compared to the X&Y tour they seem somehow more cooled down with each other in two groups will/guy and jonny/chris and try hard to hide it away from the public eye... Exactly! that's how it's been since then. It's like two groups, Shagg you go with Scoob. Fred, Velma, and Daphne go together. It's like freakin Scooby Doo when it comes to them now. Guy and Will are just slightly more introverted, that's all. I heard this one, but the impression I got was they were totally bullshitting just because it was only Chris and Jonny there. I think it was right after the radio DJ/interviewer said that Will/Guy were the smart ones for staying home and Chris/Jonny were the stupid ones for waking up at the crack of dawn to do that interview. So they were mock-defensive there. Do you remember the TV interview from Jonathan Ross (I think) where Ross said jokingly to Will, Jonny, and Guy "No offense, but you are just over-paid session musicians." And then Chris called him a dickhead right then and there on air. So I don't ever think he takes a single one of them for granted for one second. He said he is terrified of anyone leaving in another article. Chris has also said that he watched Metallica's film "Some Kind of Monster" like 17 times and it was helpful or something to that effect. Well, a large part of that film shows the band trying to deal with the departure of their bassist. They eventually find a new bassist. But it put lots of stress on them when the first one left. I think that hits home with Chris. He is optimistic deep down (and sometimes on the surface), so he likes that it had a happy ending and the music goes on. I no Chris is in the spotlight most but It would be nice if he gave more attention to Guy and Will thats all i feel. I don't doubt coldplay in quality they are the greatest every single of them.
