I kissed a girl and I liked it....?!

Featured Replies

Ok, so what's the consensus on this bi-curious offering from Ms. Katy Perry?

It's not exactly award-winning lyricism, but it's pretty funny. And fun to bop along to.

People are saying it's offensive and disgusting, which I guess is pretty offensive and disgusting in itself...aren't we meant to be PC and accepting these days? haha.... :P

lol...anyway, what are your thoughts? Or are we Coldplayers above this mainstreamy music?

i have no freaken idea what to think of her...

first of all, i don't necessarily hate her lyrics; lots of fun and cheek :P

the music itself isn't too bad, though i prefer the more-"rock" version

and she's a good singer...i really like her voice.

meh...the song STILL irks me anyway. and no, it's not because of the "offensive" subject (i thought it was clever anyway). maybe it's because the song gets old quickly for me. and aside from music, she's too cheeky for me image-wise.

((not to mention one of my idiotic guy-friends has been breaking into song with this song...:stunned:))

oh well. guess i should hear her other songs before making a decision. LoL

i dont really care or mind it as long as they dont play it on the radio every 5 seconds. my friend, who is a girl, sings this song all the time, and i dont really care, if someones bicurious, bisextual, gay, or lesbian, thats their choice, and im not gonna interfere just because some pompous, hypocritical religious leaders tell me to do so, or even a holy book for that matter. people have a right to express what they really feel, and as long as they dont force it upon me, well, thats just dandy by me, hell, ill even be their friend, i dont give a damn if theyre christian, muslim, jew, buddhist, gay, lesbian, bisextual, or are an alien :\

It's catchy, but I really doubt she'll have another hit.

This song is just freaken catchy. Everytime it comes on I end up singing along to it. The lyrics are a bit cheesy, but its a good sing along to song

and iplay181(dont know your name sorry) But i like what you had to say. That it doesnt matter what religion someone is or someones sexual orientation. I think like that too, and I wish more people would.

It's catchy, but I really doubt she'll have another hit.

Exactly. I kind of hope she doesn't if she keeps writing novelty songs like this.

Lots of girls kiss girls [me included] but it really isn't anything to sing about. :freak:

There's no substance in music these days. :dozey:

Her voice is so awesome. I don't like the song, because it's too poppy for me, but her voice is neat-o.

The topic doesn't bother me. I. Just. Don't. Care.

I think Emily pretty much summed it up for me. I really don't care who or what you kiss. That doesn't really warrant a four-minute pop song.

(She does have a pretty cool voice, though.)

Well homosexuality is wrong so I think it celebrates gross and wrong behavior, plus the lyrics, regardless of topic, are terrible anyways, she's not a great singer, the beat is annoying, and the song is just overall bad.

agreed, but i dont really care if shes homosexual or not

^^She's not a great singer. She's got a unique voice which could be cool if used in the right way.

The song annoys me because it seems like she's using this sort of controversial issue to get attention. I guess that sounds stupid, but I think that since the lyrics aren't even funny or intelligent, she's just sort of screaming, "HEY I KISSED A GIRL YOU GUYS LOL" and trying to get some radio time.

Yeah, that sounded stupid.

Just my personal opinion.. Homesexuality should not be a controversial issue. It dates back to the greek days and what not. Its 2008, if someone is gay who cares. I dunno I just thought by now it be accepted into our society, that gays and lesbians could walk down a street without being made fun of or people saying things to them like "HEY FAG" OR "YOU FREAKEN LESBO" I can understand however where people are against it, but there is so much hate in this world against those who are gay, and it needs to stop. Plus I dont think she is gay in real life(wouldnt matter either way. And I agree with foralackofabettertitle(sorry forgot your name), though i think this song is catchy, the lyrics lack alot. She may have better songs than this, but who knows if they will hit as big as this one has.

psh... i don't know, everybody's going to disagree but i honestly like this song a lot. it's very... unique i should say. i'm not for homosexuality, i just like the song. the beats good IMO. *shrugs* that's just me.

Just my personal opinion.. Homesexuality should not be a controversial issue.

I agree, but as of right now, it is controversial. I personally don't give a crap what anybody does life as long as it doesn't hurt other people. Hurting being defined, for me, as "killing or injuring physically."

I'm just glad we're moving forward into times where it will be accepted by most people. There's always going to be people who have problems with loving who you love, but it's just so cool that so many people are either over it or never cared in the first place.

she is just another example of how mainstream music is going down the drain. ugh i can't stand it, its people like her that make me angry because i don't know how these people get record deals when theres bands that are infinity times more talented than she is but can't get airplay. its bullshit if you ask me!

plus she's all talk, just look at her video. there's no girl kissing going on there.

There's a video? :dozey:

Mainstream music these days is the reason why my radio is in the closet.

I don't care about her kissing a girl or whatever, but I don't think the song is about homosexuality. She mentions a boyfriend and how she did it just to try it, or something like that.

So basically she's singing about a weird dare or something. :P

booo stupid lesbian song that's ruining VLV

Hooray beer!

that song is competition for my coldplay. :[

plus, it's not a song. it's not music. it's just stupid.

coldplay comes up with the beautiful lyrics to viva la vida, but then people like "i kissed a girl, and i liked it, the taste of her cherry chapstick" better?

someone should like, punch katy perry in the friggin face.

i hate her so friggin' much.

Yup, it's a catchy song although i can't even recall the melody right now hahah but i always end up whistling or humming when it's playing.

I think that's all people seem to pay attention to - the catchiness

It's very easy to sell a song when it has a title like that.;)
