i never have and never will. i just dont understand why someone in this day and age would even bother to pick it up. i think there's an excuse for older people because back then they didn't know how bad it was for you, but anyone under like 30...i think it's ridiculous. sorry if that offends anyone, but it would help if i knew WHY people picked it up. it's hardly rebellion, since half the world does it.

i have three high school friends that smoke, but it was scandalous (i went to a...very strange high school). it was more the fact that they smoked at ALL which was astonishing; its not like they ever did it on campus. i guess it's just really uncommon for young people in my area.

but here in europe...my GOD. smoking was banned in restaurants and bars here in holland...yesterday. no, two days ago. but wow. in america, we havent been able to smoke inside for like 8 years.

jonny and guy still smoke, right? but i think will quit...

Jonny quit too :)

People that still smoke these days just confuses me....why would you want to slowly kill yourself on a daily basis?

^ hard to quit an addiction.. I guess :\

Everyone has vices.

People that drink or eat poorly are putting themselves at risk too, to a lesser extent but they still are. Heart disease is a major cause of death.

It's about whether you chose to indulge your vices. Some people love smoking, they know the risks but do it anyway.

I have no problem with people doing it as long as they're considerate of other people. :)

I have the same opinion, and I feel the same way about behaviour in general.

People shouldn't smoke when others are around if there are any objections.;)

Weed is different, as there is no evidence to suggest passive inhalation of that is harmful.;)

I understand that, but why would one start in the first place? It's well documented that it's bad for your health, and someone doesn't get a 'high' from it...

The first draws are only about wanting to be "cool" and "fitting in". However, at last the tide is turning on those counts.;)

add to that the will to take some risks, a sort of rebellion or pessimistic vision of life. It's like playing with your own health, thinking 'i could be the one not getting sick because of that thing'. Because when I tell people that smoking will kill them one day, their answers are 'well, ive been smoking for years and I still feel pretty good and healthy' or 'well, we're gonna die anyway'...

It's "quality of life" and the physical damage it does that really matters. You're far more likely to end up with some crippling, debilitating disease by smoking.

The question shouldn't really be "Will it kill me?", but rather, "Will it result in me living for years in a wheelchair or gasping for breath all the time?";)

yeah, I totally agree with you on that. Their answers, arguments and reasons dont make any sense anyway.. I dont get it but dont judge them for doing it. :)

People also shouldn't forget that smoking prematurely ages the skin. You get more wrinkly more quickly.;)

I was just taught well as a kid by parents and listened to their advice.

I don't do it now.

Period.

;)

^ good boy ;)

I'm on my way to my last cigarrette. Went to a doctor today and I found out I have asthma. I never had it before and it started a couple of years ago. Combine cigarretes, cats and an old respiratory allergie and there you have it ! Now I´m taking care of myself :D

started with 13, stopped when i was 18 so that's kind of... dumb  kids tend to stop things as soon as they're allowed to do them, as we all know.

Good news - and better late than never!:D

And in Brazil, do you have to quit smoking before they let you have a baby??

Is that another one of the criteria?
