I had a great evening... my friends gave me a big Beatles book and we had a nice time here :D

Hey, that's neat a neat gift! A picture album of The Beatles then, or artwork related to them??

Anyhow, I'm happy to hear that you had a great evening!!:sunny:

a book.. with pictures from the Daily Mail archive :P

? Newspaper Clippings then? Reprints or old prints?? You mean the UK Daily Mail Y/N/Maybe??:laugh3: You got me all confuzzed now!

a book with pictures from the archive of the UK Daily Mail :P

reprints.. it's like the history of the band through pictures

Alright! Hey, that is neat Lore!! I like to look at old clippings like that too - it's really a snapshot in time, with all the current events going on then, and the buzz about the concerts, etc. I've got one or two clippings from way way back (early 70's/late 60's) of the Rolling Stones when they played in Chicago.. Funny to see how everyone was dressed, and all the hoopla and stage props. Did their outfits ever look wild, or what?! I'll bet the Beatles wore a variety of costumes as well??

yeahhhh

I was watching the beatles anthology a few days ago.. and it's great to see how different was life then... all the clothes and stuff!!

Yeah, wasn't that a wild time to be young?? I was too young to know much about it, outside the fact that it was all over the TV and newspapers, and naturally when they played on TV, the concerts we saw were deafening with everyone going wild!! All that took place down in the cities, so we missed the hoopla, but I remember taking the bus to school, and the older kids on the bus were basically hippies.. they wore out the 8-track tapes playing all the Beatles tunes, almost non-stop.:hippy:

how cool!!!!!

I wish I could turn back time to see that

I'm pretty sure I born in the wrong decade

Hmm.. Well Lore, there were good things, and bad things. The bad things were very bad, so the good things seemed a lot better, and it was a time of great unrest in the world. Some extremely gruesome wars, giant fights against the wars, riots every night, cities on fire, lots of gunfire, mass protests, water cannons, mass arrests, big buildings being bombed; it was nuts! Then there was Woodstock, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Dylan, sit-ins, surfing mania, the Summer of Love, all sorts of wild campus goings-on.. Well, it's nuts today too, but a lot less nuts, so I could feel the vibes. Anyone in High School felt like the draft was a death sentence, and the TV news brought that point home, so no sense in worrying about tomorrow! That, and the rights issues, and the environment was horrible in the cities; it was a wild time to be young, and yet because you didn't think you'd live another year, young people partied and protested like mad, and it almost culminated in a revolution here in the US.. France had some complete work stoppages, and the world felt like it was on a teeter-totter of sorts.

But we're in similar predicaments today, so history repeats itself! But there was a genuine sense that all the young people were targets of the older people, and all the older people thought the youth were too uppity and disrespectful.. I remember - but the young people were right though - their rights were being denied, the war was wrong, and the world was in desperate need of a youth revolution. It was a clash! "Don't trust anyone over 30" wasn't just a slogan, but a real sentiment! Well, Chile was a world apart, so I'm not sure what was going on down your way, except the sad years of dictatorship happened somewhere in there.. (though I saw how you Chileans got their independence from that dictator Pinochet, and what a great way to do it - with a non-violent revolution!!

Anyhow, I'm rambling on, but think of the fun we're having today!! (but yea, in some ways, I wish I had been 18 then too - it must have been just total excitement!)

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
