  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. Is the first picture in the Exhibition Room not the Metric album, Fantasies?

The Oracle replies:

That's right, it's NOT! Nothing like it mate!

Actually, I've always thought the first picture in the Exhibition Room looked like the background during a very small part of their Live 8 perfomance with Richard Ashcroft (at the beginning, between 0:05 to 0:06).

Q. Hi Oracle, I was listening to the Viva La Vida album for probably the millionth time, and I was wondering why Lost? was on the album when it already had Lost! It seems like it would have made more sense to put it on, say, Prospekt's March, or LRLRL. Thanks!

P.S. USA misses Coldplay!

The Oracle replies:

Lost? was only available as a bonus track on the Japanese and iTunes release so wasn't on the original album format; we don't include the bonuses in our Recordings section. There was another version, Lost+ available on Prospekt's March - as you are probably aware.

Q. Hi Oracle,

I was hoping to buy some new music during the summer. However, I am at a loss as to what to buy. I'm really into Mumford & Sons at the moment, could you suggest someone or a band with a similar sound?

Thanks Oracle!

The Oracle replies:

Today's glorious sunshine is making me very lazy so I am going to cheat with an app on my iPhone that I like - Tastekid (it's free!)

All I do is type in favourite music (or films/books) and it suggests similar that I may also like.

When I tapped in Mumford & Sons (which to confess, I already had out of curiosity) it suggested the following:

Temper Trap

The Drums

Marina And The Diamonds

Laura Marling

Johnny Flynn

The Middle East

Delphic

Ellie Goulding

Two Door Cinema Club

Bombay Bicycle Club

Yves Klein Blue

Emmy The Great

Eight Legs

Noah And The Whale

Local Natives

Q. Could you tell us how are going the production of the new album? I'm so anxious about it. Please, don't leave out Songbird and See You Soon if you could, ok? Say to Chris that I love him more than anything. Thanks Oracle

The Oracle replies:

See You Soon was released in 1999 on the The Blue Room EP and Songbird is an Oasis song that Coldplay covered live years ago; there's no way that either of these songs will appear on the next album.

I'll leave it to Roadie #42 to fill you in on how it's going in the studio and am sure there'll be an update pretty soon!

Q. Hi Oracle,

Is the [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSP4N2EiqLQ]video[/ame] description true?

Thanks,

Elliott

The Oracle replies:

This video is NOT from a potential DVD; it's from a Brazilian TV special that took place before the Latin America tour.

The live footage is from Barcelona (filmed by Hamish Hamilton). There was also an interview.

Q. I know Coldplay is coming out with a new album. Does that mean that they are touring soon?

P.S. Please come to America!

The Oracle replies:

Erm, there has been no official word on a release date so the album is not imminent. It's obviously in its recording stages but as yet that means it will be a while off any tour dates being announced!

Q. Dear Oracle,

A friend of mine who is an utmost fan of Coldplay (as me) suggested that I listen to Gold in Them Hills. He told me that it was one of their songs, but I have never heard of it. Could you help me out?

Thanks.

The Oracle replies:

Don't worry, it's not a Coldplay song it's actually a track by [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DncGOPzkAns]Ron Sexsmith[/ame]. Their vocals compliment each other so beautifully and they actually performed this live together at Madison Square Garden back when Ron supported them.

 That's seriously the most annoying type of question! That and the one just the other day asking for See You Soon and Songbird :veryangry2:

Yeah, wtf was that all about?

Of course, she made the decision to answer it. Maybe sometimes she answers questions just so she can lurk here afterward to see our reactions.

The 'P.S. Please come to America' made me laugh.

I mean it's a good job they asked cos otherwise the boys never would have thought of it!

Maybe the volcano will keep them trapped in the UK for an extended tour. :laugh3:

Q. Hi - I was searching online for Coldplay and came across a link to a Coldplay.com "IN MY PLACE members area" at "coldplay.com/html/members.shtml" - I entered my email address before I realised that this might not be legitimate.

It didn't do anything apart from open up a window for 'tidalflow.co.uk' that seemed not to have much in it.

Is this old content or is it someone doing something nefarious, but using or spoofing Coldplay's domain name?

In the meantime I'll do a thorough virus check on my machine! Thanks.

The Oracle replies:

Don't worry Karl nothing bad will happen. That page is now defunct but was part of a very old official website incarnation many years ago.

Q. Hello Oracle,

I wanted to know if Guy had a Twitter, there is a guy on there with an account named GuyBerryman39. Is it Guy or is he a poser?

The Oracle replies:

Don't bother with anyone claiming to be ANY of the guys on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace (apart from official band pages) etc. as every one is an imposter and not a member of Coldplay.

Honestly ... I wonder how many times a question like this was asked and answered ...

I'm guessing The Oracle didn't say that :dozey:
