I'm just curious to hear what made you like them or what part of thier sound appeals to you as fans?, I'm going to be completly honest and say that I don't particularly like them myself, I don't hate them and I'm not coming on here to insult them or try and cause inflamatory comments, I'm a musician and I like to talk to other people who are passionate about music even if we have differing opinions, if we all had the same taste it would be rather boring wouldn't it.

Well, in the beginning of their career, what appealed me the most was their job on the piano, their melancholic songs, once i've always been a nostalgic person. Chris' voice, although i know it's not the best ever, has something that shows passion. I love how they can trick everyone, making them think they are a melancholic band, without anything else to say, and then you listen to their albums and search about them as persons, and realize they are these fantastic, happy, shinning guys. I really don't know how to explain what i feel for them. I just thank God i found them.

Chris himself, as well as the other band members, put so much feeling and passion into their music, and you can tell. Plus, their songs and beats are just catchy, even if you don't pay attention to small things such as the mood, lyrics, etc.

A lot of fans of thiers I speak to seem to say they have this intenseness live, I just don't get them myself and to whoever said Chris isn't a good singer, no he might not have the best voice in the world to be fair to him he can sing well and his voice is distinctive and suits the band well.

I'm not a great fan of Johnny Bucklands style of playing but then I like different things, I have to admit though I didn't mind Violet Hill :)

and it doesn't always have to be 100% pure all the time, cause the music and lyrics are just so damn good it doesn't matter

Omg, the people you've spoken to are so right. I saw them for the first time live 3 days ago, and it was the most incredible experience of my life... their music just FEELS a thousand times better when you're listening live, and you can really just see the emotion and uniqueness they put into it.

Same as you guys, I love the lyrics, that they have a meaning. They don't just write some bull like rappers and stuff, they write things from their heart and emotions, and that what I like. And how the lyrics and meldioes fit so well together aswell. And also how they help organisations like MTF and stuff, that I think is really inspiring.

i just feel like when i'm listening to their music, i know exactly how they're all feeling. each word and each note has a different meaning and the way they tie it all together is brilliant. not to mention they are epic live and they are just great, kind, humble guys with a love for music.

not to mention guy berryman...

Coldplay is the only band that touches my mind, body and soul. Coldplay = life to me. Plus the members are just effing ownage. Chris being the main one of course. down to earth, funny, intelligent, sexy, talented etc etc. (Yes, I'm a straight male.)

Im much older than all of you but I've always known of them but never really gave them a second thought.Then I heard the itunes commercial and flipped .I hadnt heard such a catchy tune in years,

 

I now have become completely obsessed with Coldplay, especially Chris.I'm online reading and listening to anything I can find about them.

Really I like them cuz theyre an awesome band and I wish I was more like them

The first song I heard by them was Yellow back in 2000 or so and I just loved the lyrics, the sound to the song and I had to find out more about them! I went on a mission to listen to their music and the more I heard, the more I felt connected to their music and lyrics! :D They're also a bunch of very cool and talented guys oh and the fact that they're British also appeals to me cause I'm like obsessed with England and stuff, but that's not neither here nor there! :P The first time I saw them in concert, my love grew more because they are so fantastic in concert and Chris really connects with his fans! :D

i saw the scientist video. the emotion in the words and music just took me. it was like nothing i had felt before in music. really the music im into hits me emotionally on some level. whether its talking to me when im not feeling awesome or when i feeling great. ive always seen coldplay as a band for the thoughtful, and really thats why i like them. also as ive gotten to know them better you can't help but root for them. there isn't an ego among them. i mean even when you're pissed they made another not serious music video (is that only me?) you can't help but think, "wow these guys are too cool." just the personalities and sense of humors just kind of make you realize these aren't just great musicians or a great band, but great people. i could get by without the latter, but it makes liking them so much easier.

They make good use of old farm bells.:) And because, their music is fantastic, but also their message is one of hope, optimism, commiseration, and empathy. They strive to help the citizens of the world, and in that sense they are shining examples of global citizens.

They seem to get what I'm going through sometimes. And the melodies and beats make me feel....pure joy.
