promised myself not to buy anything for the rest of the month and ended up with a playsuit, a shirt dress and new earrings today. i am horrible. :( yet happy!

i don't need shoes, nor can i afford them, but my friend can get me a deal on sperry boat shoes, and though they're almost too preppy for me, even, i want them.

i know this first picture is small, but from the site i'm on i can't get it any bigger:

52688_52688_265_5.jpg these are the cheapest. $32 on sale, plus between 20% and 45% off of that. deal and a half, really, but could i wear them with a lot of stuff with all the colors in them?

104410_85.jpg

but these are the ones i really want because they would go with more and they're water resistant, which i will need in rainy england :P. they're $80 full price, but i would get between 20% and 45% off.

The Princess and the pea? Eugenie arrives for Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot wearing a hat that looks suspiciously like frozen veg...

Princess Eugenie really entered the spirit of Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot today as she arrived for the third day of racing wearing what looked suspiciously like a giant garden pea perched on the front of her head.

The vivid green disc sat precariously on her forehead, competing for attention with her violet silk top.

The 19-year-old Princess was accompanied by sister Beatrice, 20, whose subtle monochrome hat trimmed with one long feather was almost invisible next to her sister's garish creation.

The Princess and the pea: Eugenie's green hat looked like a giant petit pois, while sister Beatrice's monochrome hat was much more subtle. The Princesses later slipped into more modern part dresses as they joined their mother at a glamorous party in Kensington

The two later swapped their Royal atire for more modern clothing - slipping into party dresses as they joined their mother at the star-studded pre-Wimbledon party in Kensington.

Also soaking up the atmosphere in the Royal Enclosure were rocker Rod Stewart and wife, Penny Lancaster.

Tanned and relaxed from their Italian holiday last week, the 64-year-old singer and his model wife, 38, took their place in the Royal Enclosure.

But while Rod - who has been turned away from the Royal Enclosure in the past for inappropriate attire - sensibly played it safe in morning tails, there was no such excuse for Penny to pick such lacklustre headgear.

While Ladies' Day is traditionally an opportunity for women to bring out their most extravagant, outlandish or downright odd hats, Penny plumped for an unadventurous wide-brimmed purple number.

Elsewhere on the track, other racegoers were much less conservative.

One wobbled under the weight of an elaborate construction by milliner and Britain's Got Talent judge Louis Mariette, woven entirely from plaited blonde hair and laced with pearls.

Another staggered under a huge bonnet trimmed with 800 marshmallows, a project that took her three weeks to complete.

Jade Taylor she said the pink creation was so heavy she would have to take it off for a rest at regular intervals during the racing.

'I just love marshmallows,' the 19-year-old said.

'I thought it would be something a bit different but I never realised it would be this heavy.'

Hairum scarum! Racegoer Anneka Tanaka-Svenska sports an outlandish hair headpiece, created by milliner Louis Mariette, judge on the panel of Britain's Next Top Model

Dressed in a matching pale pink satin dress, the student added: 'I was eating some marshmallows and I just thought I might as well go for it - after all, they're a fat free dessert.'

Continuing the food theme, a trio of chocoholics wore hats inspired by their favourite Quality Street sweets, while another topped her outfit with a giant ice-cream cone.

The Ladies' Day hat parade may be the stuff of milliners' nightmares, but there's no denying it makes for colourful viewing.

Liz Jones reviews the heady delights of Ladies' Day

Amid all the doom and gloom, it was an opportunity for our ladies to demonstrate just how resilient they are.

And I take my hat off to them.

At Royal Ascot yesterday the outfits were not only chic - but overwhelmingly cheeky and cheerful.

Ladies' Day was celebrated with a parade of bright brims, feathery fascinators and quirky creations perched high on careful blowdries.

The choice in hats ranged from the commercial (an ice-cream cone) to the political, in the shape of a little duck house and a bathroom plug paid for on MPs' expenses.

Guess who: Carol Vorderman reveals herself from under the brim of her monochrome hat

Carol Vorderman would not have gained entry to the Royal Enclosure, as her bare shoulders did not meet their strict dress rules. But she looked fabulous enough in slinky black and a hat big enough to hide under.

The overwhelming theme, in terms of fashion, was one of outrageous colour, nipped-in waists, bracelet sleeves, chunky necklaces and strappy sandals or courts.

And there were many well- chosen pieces from the High Street, proving you you can dress up on a budget in the credit crunch, without looking cheap.

Here were British women doing what they do better than anyone else in the world: looking pretty without taking themselves - and particularly their hats - too seriously. A crowning success.

do you guys also have the feeling sometimes that you wanna change your style? I mean there are certain things I love wearing...and then I buy something new in another style and like it even more and then I want to buy more clothes in this style...so I always spend money on clothes...:(

this is why I'll go shopping today..:wacky:

Yes !

What sucks is that at this moment you don't wanna wear half of your clothes anymore

Good shopping ! :nice:

Sounds like a bit of an addiction...................... :stunned:

Addiction ? What is it ?

But don't worry it doesn't happen very often :P

Not gonna lie, I like those hats. :P

Sometimes...I don't really "change" my style...I just add more things that I like. :D Some days I feel "Gossip girl" like preppy, other days I'm feeling classic Audrey Hepburn inspired, some times I feel a bit rockerish or like to wear different ethnic prints. Just go with the flow and wear whatever you like, regardless if it's "not your style," because you can just add more to your style anyways.

Do show us what you end up buying! :nice: I am intrigued.

I really like both the shoes but the first one is my favorite.

i sometimes feel guilty for wearing flats to be honest. :(

for example, this week i've only worn heels once and i guess it's the peer pressure that made me think about it. i am usually the one wearing heels all the time, but when i spotted lots of girls wearing heels this week, i thought i had to wear them, too. i don't know. i feel horrible when i'm underdressed. so that was for the random note.

i don't necessarily feel that i have to change my style. i just rely on my mood and i reckon i have a wide range of different clothes in my closet.

it's just that i sometimes think my hair could be lighter and stuff. i usually want to change things drastically. :laugh3: yep, and i'm never going dye my hair again because i once ended up with orange spots in my hair. :\

but yeah, thinking about it, i might want lighter hair for a change.

and i've got to admit i thought about getting a fake tan.

i once went to the tanning salon with my sister because she goes there regularly and she just dragged me along. i'm opting for a healthier look because i am horribly pale, yet i don't want to look like one of those girls who go overboard with their fake tan.

Not gonna lie, I like those hats. :P

Yes...actually this is exactly what I wanted to say...I keep my own style, but I like to add things...or just to change details...

so I went shopping today....and bought something...

^ what did you get? :nice:

Fake tans are now going out of fashion. "Pale" is now in.:D

^ i knooow. i just want to look a bit healthier. so i guess i'm sunbathing this summer.

I don't tan much or sunburn, the sun must be scared of me. I'm outside close to 10 hours a week, usually in mid day without shade or sunscreen and I don't burn, just a very mild tan..its odd.

Maybe, but it's long-term skin damage you should be wary of.;)

i need a tan too...i'm not one of these people that's obsessed with getting a tan, but i always like a nice glow. i tan very quickly too (yay for being mediterranean!), but for some reason, my tan fades very quickly (like in a few weeks) and it's like i never had it at all.

since i'm a london-freak, i saw this tshirt ages ago and have been waiting for it to go on sale. now of course, it's on sale, but i had to get a size smaller since that's all they had left :dozey:

Then you might look healthier, but your skin won't actually be healthier, so I would strongly advise against it.

If you really must have a tan, fake is definitely the way to go nowadays.;)

Personally, I'd rather stay pale.;)

That shirt looks mega touristy!!:P

^it is, but i've never cared :D. i love being a tourist. i don't know if i'll really wear this one around london itself, though.

how long do the fake tans last? like the professional spray-on ones, not the ones you buy in bottles at the drug store. i always felt like it would feel weird, like there was paint on my skin for a few weeks.

Finally!

Yes - great news for all Scandinavians!!:D
