Anyone got any tips on how to stop biting my nails?

It does my head in.

I need to stop ;/

Also, it's just under 2 months until I move away for University. Which means, no-one will give me a job because I'm only here for so many weeks. Does anyone have any decent ideas for making money? I'm open to any suggestions, so long as they involve me keeping my clothes on.

Nail biting, I don't have that problem, so sowwy, no answers... :s

The money thing, I'm in the same situation....I've made a little bit extra by selling some things on ebay. My brother asked people in our area if they needed any garden jobs doing for cash in hand. One lady agreed, and him and his friend got some dosh for clearing a garden and cutting a tree back......

sorry, dunno if that helps at all?

For the nail biting thing:

You can go to the store and they sell this nail polish that taste NASTY, it is supposed to help with nail biting problem.

There's some stuff you can buy at a pet shop that you can put on your fingernails. It tastes extremely bitter, so it'll keep you from biting them. Normally it's used to keep dogs from biting stuff.

As for the job, isn't there some sort of office for employment where you are that can hook you up with a temporary position?

Try putting something under your nails like soap or hot pepper. Or put plasters over the tips of your fingers and keep a rubberband on your wrist and if you catch yourself trying to nibble, snap the rubberband.

As for a job, odd jobs for cash is good. Or don't tell people you are going away to uni soon. In USA we have day labour where people wanting work meet at a pick up place and people needing workers for that day come by and say "I need 3 people for yard work" etc. Not sure if you have anything like that over there.

I wish they had that day labour thing near me (maybe they do and I dont realise or something  )

I need caaaaaasssssh.

Have you tried picking pockets on the underground? :P

My friend got a job waiting tables for 3 weeks. Here's how:

When the interviewer asks you if you are heading out to university in the fall, say, "Well, that's the thing. I'm not quite sure. I was hoping to get a job just in case I don't, but right now I don't know one way or the other," or something along those lines.

Then they hire you and then about a month from now or so go in and say to your boss/manager/higher-up, "Well, I've talked it over with my family, and I've decided that I will be going to university after all." Then it's like, Well, I can't say I didn't warn you that it was a possibility.

Foolproof, I say! FOOLPROOF!

ditto, there's people near me who are going around taking dogs for walks, so I can't do that, maybe I should ask about helping in gardens....

Hmmm.. well.. I've been biting my nails since I was about 4 and I only stopped for about a year but now it's back.. so don't know how to help you :\

For the job thing... you can go to a job interview in any small business but don't say you'll be leaving in a few weeks. When the time comes just say you had some type of emergency and you're gonna have to leave.

Try putting something under your nails like soap or hot pepper. Or put plasters over the tips of your fingers and keep a rubberband on your wrist and if you catch yourself trying to nibble, snap the rubberband.

Seriously? I for real thought that was just during the Depression, lol.

It's hard enough to find a job when you are planning on staying. Personally I wouldn't tell them you're gonna go to uni and just quit the job.

Nail biting: I am a terrible nail biter but i haven't bitten them for over 2 weeks now (!!)

I just simply decided that i will NOT bite them and put some nail polish on them to make them a bit stronger so that i don't feel like i have to bite them.

I still play a lot with my fingers = remove dirt under my nails several times a day with anything sharp really  and play with my nuticles but i just don't bite them.

I guess it's just down to will. You could try that stuff that tastes really bitter so you at least realize when you're about to bite them and stop it before it's too late.

Loads of places take on temporary staff over the summer, cinemas especially. Then you could maybe get a transfer to one near where you're moving to. :idea2:
