August 19, 200817 yr A friend of mine gave me a DVD a few monts ago and I loved it from the very start. It keeps getting funnier every time I watch it, and helped me destroyed my conception of British people having no sense of humour (no offense). Show some love for the boys
August 19, 200817 yr Have you seen Monty Python And The Holy Grail yet? Funny stuff! If you want, I could upload some of their audio sketches in MM.;)
August 19, 200817 yr Author Have you seen Monty Python And The Holy Grail yet? Funny stuff! yup. HILARIOUS!! What is your name? My name is Sir Lancelot of Camelot. What is your quest? To seek the Holy Grail. What is your favourite colour? Blue. Right, off you go. :laugh3: By the way, the Dead Parrot Sketch is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The killer joke, the restaurant sketch, Agatha Christie, the ministry of silly walks!! God, these guys were good
August 19, 200817 yr Then there's Spam, Every Sperm Is Sacred...too many to name! They helped me waste most of my high-school years along with George Carlin, lol. Instead of studying, my friends and I would memorize their sketches!
August 19, 200817 yr Python is never a waste of time!:P Besides, how else would we have learned about the Cheese miser?:laugh3: (5 bonus points to anyone who can remember what type of cheese he was misering!):D
August 19, 200817 yr Have you seen Monty Python And The Holy Grail yet? Funny stuff! If you want, I could upload some of their audio sketches in MM.;) LOL yeah, I took WAY too long to see it despite my friends urgings, and when I did I agreed that it's one of those films that every living soul needs to see at least once. "That's beside the point! a five ounce swallow cannot carry a one pound coconut! maybe an african swallow....but those are non migratory, that's what I'm saying....!" "You have no limbs!" "Okay, we'll call it a draw......come back here you coward!"
August 19, 200817 yr Author Proably too long, but I just HAD to post this. -There are ways of telling whether she is a witch. [/url]-Are there? Oh well, tell us. -Tell me. What do you do with witches? -Burn them. -And what do you burn, apart from witches? -More witches. -Wood. -Good. Now, why do witches burn? -...because they're made of... wood? -Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood? -Build a bridge out of her. -But can you not also build bridges out of stone? -Oh yeah. -Does wood sink in water? -No, no, it floats!... It floats! Throw her into the pond! -No, no. What else floats in water? -Bread. -Apples. -Very small rocks. -Cider. -Gravy. -Cherries. -Mud. -Churches. -Lead! Lead! -A Duck. -...Exactly. So, logically... -If she weighed the same as a duck... she's made of wood. -And therefore... -...A witch!
August 21, 200817 yr Author YES!, Us British have a great sense of humour! :smug: You do, but blame the stereotype on Prince Charles or the Queen, I think they're the ones who make you look cold, stiff and unimaginative. Of course, after watching 5 minutes of Python I knew it was wrong. Been watching some Fry and Laurie too.....yep, you have an amazing sense of humour.
August 21, 200817 yr Could someone post any Monty Python bits from Youtube? I'd like to get an idea of what's the show like as I have heard from several people along with this thread that it is indeed hilarious.

The spam and ministry of silly walks were my most favourite! :D :Dno problem, I shall spread the python love everywhere I can. If you have time you should watch one of their movies, I've only seen The Holy Grail and absloutely loved it.
August 23, 200817 yr me too, on bbc america they occasionally have old monty python reruns but none of the awesome stuff you guys are posting like silly walks, the funniest joke ever written and dead parrot (which I recall my brother Nick referencing numerous times).
August 24, 200817 yr Author I've heard Dead Parrot is used as a popular reference for death, read somewhere that even Margaret Thatcher said it. It's just so damn good!
September 1, 200817 yr John Cleese was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England, the son of Muriel (née Cross), an acrobat, and Reginald Francis Cleese, who worked in insurance sales. His family's surname was previously "Cheese", but his father changed his surname to "Cleese" in 1915, upon joining the army.
October 27, 200817 yr Author Just came across [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR3eUjD6y6o&feature=iv&annotation_id=event_562256]this[/ame], it's a pretty accurate description of the political situation in the states by John Cleese. It's funny too!
