DVD of VLV Tour

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if Coldplay intend to release a DVD of VLV Tour ? I mean a DVD of one of their concerts. I'd love to get it. It would be great !

I bet they will but they will wait - I think - to have Prospekt out so they can have a more colorful concert footage. That would top this fantastic era of VLV

Let's hope so. It's the most "visual" tour to date.

I really hope so.

I've seen many professional cameras being used throughout the tour, so I'm really hoping we get another Gig/Documentary at some point.

A live 2005/2006/2008 Dvd!

It will certainly record in USA or England ...

Yes, seems very likely. A documentary would be cool too!!!!

I still think that if they do a DVD that it should be of a BUNCH OF CITIES not just one....that way everyone feels included...:nice:

I thought of that also but maybe then they could not make it to be like ona and united.

Also then the cities not included would feel bad.

They should release a massive collectors edition with a 2nd and 3rd etce disc with at least one song from each country:)

yessss, it would be great!

Guess the Oracle will not let us know this soonish: she was just asked about where they will film the dvd and gave answers like no answer - though I guess there are mnany interested in it

I really hope so, I can already imagine the beautiful butterflies confetti on my TV screen, while listening to Chris singing Lovers in Japan :).

Or a bonus disc of the entire concert of your choice!!:D

I would love to have such a DVD :)

A concert and some backstage footage or a documentry about making the tour ...

If they are clever, they would release it before X-Mas ;)

Yes, i'd absolutely LOVE a dvd of this tour, esp if it had lots of extras like a tour documentary and backstage/rehearsal footage :wideeyed: I think it's about time!

And they should include footage from lots of cities, I hate when its of just one place (unless you were at that concert :P).

Or a bonus disc of the entire concert of your choice!!:D

:D

That would make EMI insane, I mean the thoight - thoiugh I like it and it would start people make buying multiple DVDs to get more concerts in superb quality on their hands:)

DVD

They are certainly going to release a dvd this time. I cannot imagine why they wouldn't. At least, it's going to be broadcasted on tv.

They taped the two Chicago shows on July 22nd and 23rd where Chris apparently said that "the two gigs had been recorded with the aim of releasing a new dvd in the future". I read it somewhere, but can't find the original source anymore.

This is the only other source I could find.

We have something to look forward to! Good night everyone!

Releasing Chicago would be a huge mistake on their part.

A. That buildings acoutics suck.

B. It was Leg 1 when they were still getting to know the songs.

They will record on their post Xmas tour!

from my professional industry opinion...

First let me start by saying, I REALLY wanted a X&Y Tour DVD and I would again enjoy a LIVE VIVA DVD or blu Ray

But here's why it likely won't happen.

CONCERT VIDEOS ARE NOT PROFITABLE FOR LABELS.

The cost at producing a live show is enormous. And then, because of BluRay, the value of DVDs have dropped significantly. So the public wouldn't see it suitable to pay over $20 for a concert DVD. Therefore, any concert DVD under $20 would leave no profitable margin for the label.

And generally the sales of Concert Videos are approx. only 5% of what the band's album sells. Other than die-hard fans, there just isn't a big market for them.

However, if there are only a few bands that can afford to produce a video like this; Coldplay are definitely amongst those bands. Others being U2, Timberlake, Madonna.

Another point in the positive is the introduction of BluRay. I can see some mega artists (U2, Coldplay, Madonna, Timerlake, Kanye) being anxious to get out a show on that format.

But a point in the negative would be that Christmas has come and past and this is the time for Best of's and Live albums.
