Race to restart at 10 to 9. That's a stoppage of over 2 hours because of the torrential rain and in that time I've learnt that race car spelt backwards is race car! Thanks Martin Brundle!

Wow! I thought China this year was possibly the best race I have ever seen. This trumps it! From last place with 20 odd laps to go to first - you'll never see something like that again! What a hero Jenson Button is!

Woohoo Button! :D THAT was amazing.

Bah, the drivers are all wimps, little bit of rain never harmed anybody :P
Maybe, but it's a pretty boring race if they have to paddle the cars down the road like canoes. :P

Seriously though, the lightest trailing edge of what they had in Montreal yesterday just brushed by us this morning. (Pounding against my window so hard it woke me up. :bomb:) Holy crap what a wallop. If that was "light rain" compared to the centre of the storm, I don't understand how anyone in Montreal could even breathe in that mess. No wonder there's been so many tornadoes this year with storms like that going around.

Has anyone seen the Senna documentary yet?
Seriously hoping they work out a North American release/distribution soon. I really want to see it.

Racing a bike competitvly is far harder.

I'd say it's braver but F1 is more technical and the driver has to process more in his mind than the biker....who as Jeremy Clarkson once said 'they're only good at not falling off' :D

I wouldn't say that was true, riding a bike fast, well is one of the hardest things to do, the contact patch with the track is tiny, get a corner wrong and you may not just go off the track you might end up severely injured, not that I'm saying F1 drivers arn't incredibly talented, they are, but in my opinion bike riders are more so.

Mr Ferrari was knocking at the door of the FIA demanding that because their car is so crap this year, can they force a mid-season rule change to prevent the faster cars from getting an advantage, and so the Ferrari International Assistance changed the rules to give Ferrari the advantage.

Brilliant British Grand Prix. The ban on the rear blown diffusers clearly helped Ferrari but it seems it's too hard to enforce and regulate so it looks like we'll be reverting back to the old rule after this farcical mid season rule change. Who's heard of mid season technical rule changes?

Red Bull will regain the advantage I feel. Although Ferrari have closed the gap with new updates to their car that actually work....take not McLaren. Updates that actually work. Shame for a team that has two fantastic drivers in Button and Hamilton and a swanky, state of the art headquarters and technology yet they can't get near to Red Bull or Ferrari at the moment. Poor effort it seems.

Another great race today at the Nurburgring. Best race contested at this track since 1999 I'd say. Lewis Hamilton beating Alonso and Webber in a straight fight. Great performance by Hamilton and Alonso and Webber as well. Stunned by Vettel's lack of competitiveness though, finishing way back in 4th though! Hope yet for the chasing pack I wonder?

Hamilton was at his brilliant best today. The problem is, he just isn't consistent enough. Fantastic one day, mediocre the next.

As for Vettel, as Eddie Jordan said afterwards, he still hasn't proved himself in a "straight fight".

Invariably when he wins, it's because he starts on pole, and manages to stay in front because of his superior car.;)

^ Well Hamilton's known for taking risks, it paid off from him today but he'll inevitably be involved in more crashes than other drivers because of his aggressive driving style. Really made up it worked out for him today anyway.

I think Eddie Jordan made a good point here. Lewis Hamilton didn't make as many mistakes when he was driving a superior car either because he didn't need to take as many risks at the time. There is no doubt that Vettel is very talented but it would be interesting to see him in a less competitive car.

I agree. I don't think most people would agree that Lewis is one of the most talented drivers out there at the present time.

He's getting a lot of negative press. I was under the impression that the BBC supported Webber last year, which seems a bit odd considering that a British driver had the chance of winning the title.

He's a great driver but I have to admit, he sometimes makes it quite hard to like him. I think he needs to be a bit more careful with what he says in the press but I'm sure he'll learn from his mistakes. :)

I got that impression as well. The BBC seem really pro Red Bull at times. Yes they say because they are winning that's Red Bull is where the action is and where the story is happening but there almost seems to be a very pally relationship with Webber and Christian Horner on the BBC!

As for Lewis I think he's one of the most talented drivers this sport has ever seen. I think on his day he is the best in that field of drivers. He's had so many masterclass drives already in his career that can sit alongside those of Schumacher's, Senna's and Clark's in the 60s. I'm sure he can find that consistency as well.

As for Vettel well he will find himself in the thick of it needing to battle with drivers no doubt in the future but I'm certain that he can do it. He's too big a talent not too.

True, I actually find it quite annoying.

The discussion about Hamilton's driving style reminds me off Jackie Stewart's interview with Ayrton Senna that was also shown in the Senna movie. Stewart basically criticises him for being involved in more crashes than anybody else and Senna goes ' If you no longer go for a gap, you're no longer a racing driver'.

I like Hamilton's spirit but I agree, he will need to be more consistent.

Death throes of Formula One on free to air in the UK are in full swing now. Sky gain access to all races, qualifying and practice sessions from next year onwards with the BBC showing only half the races live.

What a bad day for F1 fans in the UK. :(
