"I'm nothing on my own

Got to get that message home"

Will people stop posting these bogus splitting up articles? I think we have enough of these threads at the moment.

Oh yes please! I'm sick of them too. This is basically taking exactly what Chris joked about being too old and fat, then adding on some quotes from unverified sources suggesting a solo career. Chris didn't mention ANYTHING about going solo. Far from it - surely he'd be too old and fat for that too! :P

It's just 'clever' reporting - take something that is reliable and true (Chris' joke) and then add to it to make a more interesting story in a way that makes the reader believe that it is all from official sources.

Let's just have one thread for these type of rumours, if we have to have one at all!

Chris Martin to go SOLO?

COLDPLAY superstar CHRIS MARTIN is preparing to ditch his band and launch a solo career, I can reveal.

The frontman has a frantic schedule lined up for next year so he can bow out of Coldplay before his 33rd birthday in March, 2010.

A final album is already in the pipeline for December 2009 along with a string of farewell performances.

Last night Chris said: “I’m 31 now—and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33, so we’re trying to pack in as much as possible. We’ll go for it until the end of next year.” Chris, who is married to actress GWYNETH PALTROW, will then concentrate on a solo career.

A music insider told me: “Chris isn’t the sort of guy who wants the comfort of being in a band. He’s very proud of what Coldplay have done, but he wants to go out when they’re on top.

“He’s become bigger than the band so he knows he’s going to have a huge career on his own. A solo career is something he’s always wanted to do.”

The Grammy and Brit Award-winning group have sold 40 million albums and produced anthems such as Yellow, Clocks and The Scientist.

X&Y was the best-selling album of 2005, shifting 8.3 million copies worldwide.

Their latest record, Viva La Vida, has already notched up two million sales and in June became the most downloaded album ever.

Chris formed the band, originally called Starfish, 12 years ago while at uni in London with JONNY BUCKLAND. They settled on the name Coldplay after GUY BERRYMAN and drummer WILL CHAMPION joined.

Woah, so if they do split, I hope Chris goes solo, HE WOULD BE SOOO GOOD! :D

Someone beat you, Simon, there's already a thread about this

That's something I've been thinking about and I must say - I'd be pretty disappointed if anyone of them started a solo career after ending the band. Coldplay will always be some sort of a togetherness for me and I wouldn't like to see the guys doing solo careers.

And if they split up next year, I'd have a lot of respect for them. One must know when to resign and this sounds like a perfect time, when they're on top.

merged

Woah, that freaked me out!

Ian, you're like my boss... you see EVERYTHING!!!

Its rubbish, like everything you read in Tabloids these days.

Does anybody have a B*ll Sh*t To English Translator?

Sorry

mm crap... but i liked other collabs of chris with other artists as songwriter, so i would like to listen him going solo, just for curiosity i don't mean i'd like Coldplay finish ok, is just curiosity, he works good as songwriter for other artists...

if coldplay will end one day... :bigcry: i hope it will never happen, but if it do happen i'd like they'll keep on music, like being producers, songwriters and things like that. :)

I Totally agree with you! :D

The News of The World have just taken that Chris quote from earlier in the week and made some crap up to fill some pages, don't worry about it.

PEOPLE NEED TO SHUT UP ABOUT THIS. (not coldplayers, really, i mean the press).

that's from an "insider" (my ass), no direct quotes, and is obviously only working off of the storm of the previous article about chris and the guys "retiring." oy vey.

pay no attention, coldplayers. no need to worry.

(*cue inevitable concern and freak-outs*)

Exactly. Please people, let's stop posting these bullshit articles.

I am sick of all these BS rumours surrounding Chris and the gang, it's sickening, I really want a STRAIGHTFORWARD answer from the Oracle, Chris, Jonny or Will themselves.

Hack job 101:

" The frontman has a frantic schedule lined up for next year so he can bow out of Coldplay before his 33rd birthday in March, 2010."

Hey, you can find birthdays on imdb. This is so much easier than real research like finding out where a quote actually came from.

" A final album is already in the pipeline for December 2009 along with a string of farewell performances."

Coldplay are doing stuff. This is suspicious.

" Last night Chris said: “I’m 31 now—and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33, so we’re trying to pack in as much as possible. We’ll go for it until the end of next year.” Chris, who is married to actress GWYNETH PALTROW, will then concentrate on a solo career."

Look ma, I can use cut and paste! If I say Chris said it last night, it won't look like I used the exact same quote as everyone else.

"A music insider told me: “Chris isn’t the sort of guy who wants the comfort of being in a band. He’s very proud of what Coldplay have done, but he wants to go out when they’re on top. “He’s become bigger than the band so he knows he’s going to have a huge career on his own. A solo career is something he’s always wanted to do.”"

Some kid I know who works at HMV says Chris would sell a lot of records even if he went solo.

"The Grammy and Brit Award-winning group ... blah blah blah... Coldplay after GUY BERRYMAN and drummer WILL CHAMPION joined."

If I add lots of commonly known biographical stuff, it will look like I have something new to say.

Class dismissed. :smart:

This just makes want to laugh of stupidity. They are at their best now, they wont retire!

Damn rumors!

just look at them,

They are family. they won't split or stop.
