November 27, 200817 yr As much as I like both songs - does anyone else think that Martin has lately built a song up then lost his way a bit??? These two songs are a prime example. Prospekt builds and builds until it just stops and drifts off.....meanwhile the first part of 42 is pretty much for me the best piece of music the band have ever done......then it just goes into something else i was so disappointed.....it could have been coldplays best song imo.
November 27, 200817 yr hmm...i think we'd have to take a look at his aims before stating anything. I need to do some work to my sig.
November 27, 200817 yr I actually think Prospekt's becomes better as it goes on, the "And here I lie, alone in a seperate sky" bit is really mind boggling.
November 27, 200817 yr ^ yeh best bit.......its all downhill from there :( That's how the song ends for the most part, so how could it be downhill from there? :)
November 27, 200817 yr because it ends......;) Haha well I think it's great it ends like that, though I could do without 30 or so seconds of instrumental fading out.
November 28, 200817 yr 42 'drops off'? 42 rocks on, it starts off in a mellow way, then BAM, the rocking begins.

I so agree with you! It was the first thing i thought when i heard PM. Now i only hear half of it, because the song takes a radical turn in the middle. It could have been the best thing since parachutes, if the song had just continued it's natural progression.
November 30, 200817 yr I actually disagree wtih you guys, I love everything about those two songs, it's something about them that really takes my breath away. 42 is just an awesome rock song, and PM is so beautiful my heart stops beating.
December 2, 200817 yr i love 42, and i think the rock part is reaaaaally correct, and so the first part:) just an up & down song, like the whole VLV album
December 3, 200817 yr I know what your talking about and agree completely. It seems he's so desperate to be different lately he's forgotten that if it sounds good, it sounds good period. Everything doesn't have to be weird or unexpected or "different" whatever that means. A good melody never goes out of style, the songs that are going to stand the test of time or going to be their simple and beautifully executed songs, not their most edgy material...watch.
