It's that all the other members of the band are thinking those things, and the only thing going through the bassist's mind is his entire bass part E notes and A notes. Implying the bassist is stupid plus has a very simple bass part.

Well maybe bass is shit in bands like Coldplay, but there are some genuinely talented bassists out there.

i think he does some pretty good stuff.

I know i'll be killed for this but guy's bass is pretty weak and doesn't really add much to the band in my opinion. I had this bassis friend and he always told me how dull is to play the bass when it comes to coldplay songs i didn't believe it till i played the bass part of clocks haha.

 

Flea from the chili peppers or Colin from radiohead or Chris from muse on the other hand, well just wow!

I think Guy has a few good bass parts, but mostly, yeah, he has very simple easy parts. That's not saying he doesn't contribute much, they just prefer an acoustic/piano driven sound

 

And don't forget Benj Gershman, from O.A.R. Not well known but he can really add a lot to any song

Yeah, he has a few nice bass parts but to me, he doesn't really add much to the music, sometimes you can't even notice him but i guess that's his style but i hope he dares to experiment a bit more in a future coldplay album ( unless the other guys won't let him haha)

I need music lessons... most of the time I can't say if there's a bass sounding :lol:
