Girls Aloud are massive though, they have a point. But I doubt they could sell out Wembley.

Are Girls Aloud & Jay Z BOTH performing on Friday AND Saturday

 

What I want to know is are Girls Aloud & Jay Z both playing Friday & Saturday or is just GA Friday & Jay Z Saturday?

 

As for the choice of artists to support & colaborate I think that it's a case of each to thier own! I'm not a fan of Jay Z or GA but I'm not paying to go & see them! I'm perfectly happy to go along & experience the performances with an open mind. Music shouldn't be categorised or put in boxes. I have musical tastes that are eclectic to the extreme & I don't see why any one should judge my tastes just beacuse I do or do not like a particular artist. In just the same way why should any of you Judge Chris Martin & Coldplay just because they've collaberated with Kylie or have asked Jay Z & Girls Aloud to support them!?!??!? It's thier choice!

 

I went to see Duffy in the summer & she was supported by Duke Special, I was thinking WTF! Who is Duke Special? Turned out he was a brilliant Irish singer/song writer who was an accomplished pianist. He performed a very entertaining set with a couple of other very talented musicians & so I went out & bought his album.

u beat me to it...i was just gonna say that...i didnt want it to sound like every single person on that forum are against it...but u think jay-z fans are having the same convo on there forums :s

haha you no what the funny thing is....i had a look on girls aloud forums and they are having the same talk except they think girls aloud are too big to support coldplay and the calling them support act is downgrading

Girls aloud,oh dear,I have just seen Glasvegas supporting Echo and the bunnymen at the Liverpool echo arena,now that's a proper support band!!!

Oh come on people, after Jon Hopkins and his bizarre music/videos/self you would think we'd be happy to get some halfway decent support...you are going to be paying the same price as an arena gig to see two very successful bands...Mr. Martin's two for the price of one theme continues, and you complain about it? He's just helping out in the credit crunch, innit?

I am not disagreeing with the direction of the new album or E.P am I, what I'm saying is that these pop associations are blatant attempts to sell more and more records at the expense of self respect. There is no need for all these collaborations, the band are more than capable of growing on their own. The problem with a lot of the people who write on here (EasyTo Please being an obvious example) is that they will never criticise anything the band does. Coldplay could fart in a bottle and you would lap it up! I'm talking about the kind of people who give Lost+ 10 out out 10 in the polls. Now I will get idiots posting 'do you even like Coldplay?' well yes I fucking do, I love them that's why it hurts me to see them pulling stunts like Girls Aloud to support them at one of their biggest gigs ever.

 

totally agree with everything you said there! Coldplay aren't doing themselves any favours by getting Girls Aloud and Jay Z to support, the critics will have a field day with this, which is taking away from what Coldplay is all about, which is amazing music! I miss the 'Parachutes'/'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' days. The way they are heading now people aren't gonna take them seriously, they already get enough stick as it is. I love Coldplay to bits and this is why it annoys me when you see them doing things like this, it's disappointing!

Any truth in the rumour Cheryl is going to change her name to Cheryl Coledplay especially for the occasion??:rolleyes:

u guys are acting like like if there gonna support like on 20 dates!!!.....How do u guys know that there doing it to sell records!....They really like there music so theres nothing wrong with them picking them to support them on those dates!

The news is posted on the official GA site and it says that Chris personally asked them to support. :dozey: :lol:

Its funny and everything that Chris has chosen them 'ha ha' etc... but I dunno....I think there should be something of more quality really :/

Like Crystal Palace got Interpol in 2005...I would pay to see a bigger band.. but Girls Aloud are really not tempting me AT ALL. They will probably mime.

I think he's done it because he genuinely loves them though. He always goes on about them. I'm surprised the others, Will especially, agreed though. :stunned:

 

I suppose they told us before the tickets go on sale we can make up our own minds whether we want to pay to see GA too. If the news had come after there would be loads of pissed off fans :idea2:

 

There's going to be another support act for both the dates too, I think, I wonder if we'll get someone more serious for the Jay-Z night and another pop type support for the Girls Aloud night?

So what makes you think Jay-Z is any better value than Girls Aloud?? I can't say either of them would be my choice, and neither of them complements Coldplay's sound, but of the two, I'd rather see the latter. At least their songs are "fun" and they look good on stage. They're far more likely to leave you in a "happy" mood ready for the main course.

Jay-Z's predominantly "aggressive" and confrontational songs are likely to do the opposite.............................................. :dozey:

I disagree. Coldplay's music is more "pop" than "hip hop" any day, so I would think a bigger percentage of the crowd would be annoyed at having to put up with 40 minutes plus of Jay-Z.;)

What a daft comment. You can sing along to anything if you know the words.

The fact is that far more people in the crowd are likely to know words to Girls Aloud's songs than Jay-Z's songs because Girls Aloud's songs are a lot more commercial and "singalong-friendly".;)

I'm looking forward to it. It's different, and it'll be fun before Coldplay come on. Personally, I prefer them to Jay-Z, and I'm going to have a good dance at Wembley next year.

 

They're not going to detract from Coldplay's performance at all, so that's not a problem in the slightest. And I've sat through enough of Coldplay's other poor, poor choices for support bands (including that stupid DJ and his cartoon this week) to know that they don't make a blind bit of difference to how much I enjoy Coldplay on stage.

 

And if it means more people in the bar while they're on, I've got less people between me and the stage then ;)
