July 8, 201214 yr Gotta feel sad for Murray but Federer just stepped it up a notch after getting the 2nd set, well deserved winner very happy for him. The twins were adorable at the end clapping for their father. His girls were soo cute :dazzled:
July 8, 201214 yr I don't think so. If Murray can play like he did in this tournament with that aggression then he can definitely win a Grand Slam. I think Roger was just incredible in his attacking tennis today and no one could have faced that aggression from him today. He was superb this last week and was back to his best. I think Murray's gotten into the final without even playing his best tennis, but he was thereabouts this week. I just think he needs all 3 of the best players in the world right now (And of all time) to be out of form to stand a chance, and those 3 are out of form so rarely, it's hard to see it happening any time soon.
July 8, 201214 yr It will probably be another 70 years before another British male gets to the final. Good the tennis is over, TV can resume back to normal for the next 3 weeks before some event in the east end of london takes over them.
July 8, 201214 yr At least a Brit has already won a title at Wimbledon this year. Jonathan Marray in the men's doubles[/color]. :P That's right. Jonathan Marray joined forces with Danish Frederik Löchte Nielsen immediately before Wimbledon. They participated on a wild card and beat the defending champions in the semi-finals and in the finals they met and beat the no. 2 in the preceding year's finals. Marray had a bad arm, but managed to finish the match. Incredible that they won. Frederik Löchte Nielsen is the grand-son of Danish Kurt Nielsen who was playing single many years ago and who was in the finals 3 years without winning. Unfortunately he died last year, so that he could not see his grandson win the double.
July 8, 201214 yr ^I bet you complain about TV being generally shit anyway. Yep, TV is mostly shit these days. Lots of programs aimed at the LCD generation. But then Tennis is a posh person's sport
July 8, 201214 yr Well your efforts of making us all aware of how underwhelmed you are by Wimbledon and the Olympics are inspiring to all and shows what a human can acheive, good on you.
July 8, 201214 yr I'm so gutted for Andy. He had his chances in the 2nd set but couldn't capitalize. 1x the roof was closed I knew it was over. Roger was 42-1 indoors. The closed roof aided his serve big time. Before that Murray was killing his 2nd serve. Oh well! He just has to keep trying. BTW this is the 1st time Andy has really competed well in a Grand Slam final. The 1st 3 times, he just couldn't shake the nerves.
July 8, 201214 yr The originally quoted £3 billion Olympics you mean? The games where LOCOG are being so heavy-handed trying to "protect" their branding assets it's turned into a joke? The games where all the corporate free-loaders get to travel in special lanes where the rest have to fight it out on a over-crowded transport system? All in the name of 2 weeks of 'sport' costing 9 billion pounds which could have been better spent... ...on bankers bonuses

How did you go from talking about how Olympics clutters up your valuable TV schedules (which you admit are shit anyway) to talking about bankers bonuses?

July 8, 201214 yr You're just barrels of fun. I can be a negative bastard but this guy just fucking moans about the things most people wouldn't bother thinking about.
July 9, 201214 yr You a fan of daytime tv then?! Nope, evening TV. Daytime tv is depressing at the best of times.

August 30, 201213 yr Laura Robson beats Kim Clijsters in the second round of the US Open! Well done Laura! What a victory! Commiserations to Kim though. A great personality who will be missed.
