Okay, okay, I guess we won't send her a giant British food basket... *sigh* :P

Hmm, for some reason I'm not crazy about the CD idea. But I can't really think of an alternative myself, sooo...

EDIT: Alison, you know it was inevitable once Chelsea arrived! :laugh3:

you can keep all the jaffa talk in MY thread :smug: :P

when i mentioned the flowers idea, BTW, i didn't really mean flowers per se, i meant something like flowers, something that could be dropped off and delivered by a third party or something. i realize that flowers wouldn't go to a PO box, and i don't think debs has her own office at EMI, at least not anymore. something tells me she works from home.

i'll go with whatever the consensus is, for the record. i just don't really like the poster idea for reasons i can't really explain. i think it's because that's the sort of thing we did when i was in elementary school for people who came and visited our class--it just seems a bit little kiddish and unoriginal to me :uhoh:. i also think it's needlessly complicated and overblown. i like the idea of something small and not written-word-based that would supplement the thank you letter i wrote to her from all of us and the email lore wrote from all of us. we've done the collective written word thing--i think a short personal audio thing would be nice.

Sorry, I should really go eat lunch before I turn every thread into one about food :laugh3:

But i really like Cris' 'thank you' message idea, where we all record ourselves saying thanks and put it on a CD, I think thats really cool. And then maybe me or someone else could lay down a soft acoustic guitar piano track in the background, to play all the thank you's over the top to. And if we were to compile a CD, I could always have a go at designing the casing and album art or whatever. Anyway, these are just a couple of ways to potentially spice up that idea.

why not put postcards from far way as background music? in repeat, or would that drive you crazy?

i really like this idea.. :)

^ Unless they were plastic (fake) flowers...

But yeah, I see your point.

hmmm... or we could send her boxes of those Jaffa cakes that many of the ''Postcards from Far Away Project thread'' people were going on about  :D

love this too :wideeyed: could you send some to me as well then?

I beg of you, do not bring the jaffa-obsession to this thread!!!

ohh sorry.. :embarassed:

How about everybody sends "a flower" addressed directly to Debs at the PO Box. How they interpret "a flower" is up to them. Some might draw a flower, or buy a postcard with a flower on, or make an origami flower etc.

Imagine if for weeks, she kept getting these little tokens of thanks from all around the world. That kind of trickle effect might be quite nice - getting a steady stream of stuff instead of one thing???

you can deliver packages to PO boxes, but they don't actually physically GO inside the PO box. the post office puts a slip of paper in the box telling you to go to a certain counter to pick up the package that was too big to fit in the box

oooh thank chelsea, I didn't think of that :)

I just think that might be a bit annoying in the end.. getting all those letters/cards every single day for weeks.

It might be okay if the stuff everyone sends is tiny tiny weeny.

could we send a digital version to someone on here and then that person could print it out maybe?

I was Just at Borders because i bought Live 2003...

But anyway, While i was there, i was looking at Thank you cards. And there were some really cool ones. I found one with a butterfly on it that looked exactly like the coldplay butterflies...

And i thought it might be cool for what if everyone bought or made a thank-you card for Debs, and we could send it to a collector or somebody to gather them all and then they could send them all together in a little package or something.

That way, they all come together..

haven't read the whole thread but as I said before, the cd could be too long and it might get boring after the 5 first "thank you" messages...

I love the poster Idea.. or maybe just a big card with butterflies from everywhere with something written on it :D ..

edit: ohh and no postcards or something like that, just one big poster or one big card...

Oh!

I just thought of something else that would turn out really cool!

What if i bought a blank sketch book, and everybody made a thank you card. But not a card that folds. Just so there is a front and back... But i would glue them all into a book for her.

That way they are all together, and she can flip through and read them.

It can be her book of thank yous!

Here is an image of what it would potentially look like... Except you could have a message..

I'm just afraid of one thing... if we take any of the ideas that requires that each one of us post something it'll take too much time to be ready! Like a month... I'd love to thank her in some way even before she gives us more details because she's already been so great to us that only thank her doesn't seem enough :nice: I know it's not possible, of course :P

What I'm trying to say is that we need to find a solution to make things in a quick way :)

well then making it digital would make it quicker then right?

it doesn't even have to be a card, maybe just a note which you could take a picture off and then post

then ut such a rush as background music and she will love us FOREVER

let's take pictures of us with a "thank you" sign and then with all the pics uploaded we can make a collage or something like that!

That's kind of what I was thinking when I suggested a video on the Social Group page - but photo's would be much easier to do!

The collage could be tricky though - wouldn't someone have a lot of printing to do? Could we turn the photo's in to the digital thing that Carla suggested?
