CP loses best album to THAT?!

Featured Replies

Okay.

Look.

I'm a huge Radiohead fan, but I hated "In Rainbows"

Coldplay was going to be the surefire winner for Best Album at the Grammys...

AND THEY LOST TO "RAISING SAND" ?!?!!??!?!??!?!!?!

Come on people! This is an insult to music! And it's not just because I love Coldplay either...that album that won is terrible. I had to listen to the whole thing while my friend told me how great it was....ughh.

I understand that people might like different music than I do...but VLVODAAHF was just pure genius. That's a cohesive, amazing album if I've ever heard one.

I wore my Viva Tour shirt today out of Coldplay pride. :) At least they did win some really great awards. :)

That's exactly what I thought the woman didn't even say thank you once... I didn't like their song, even worse I don't even know who they are

But somehow I'm impressed they got 3 grammys not that they didn't deserve it, they deserve the 7 awards but we all know how that academy ppl are...:shifty:

You hated in rainbows? Do you hate Kid A too?

You guys dont know who robert plant is? :uhoh:

errrr no... I don't :uhoh:

I love them both. In Rainbows should have won.

Plant was a genius 30 years ago. But his singing on that album is flat and boring.

errrr no... I don't :uhoh:

Lead singer of Led Zeppelin

No way should this have happened!:stunned:

Definite "fix" IMO!!:dozey:

THANK YOU!

EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING "Well he's from Zepplin..."

yeah. zepplin is dead

Yeah i thought the same, i really wanted in rainbows to win. They were musically superior in my opinion.

And i know, i haven't really listening to that album and robert's voice isn't the same anymore but i just find it quite weird that people don't know about the legend he is.

THANK YOU!

Yup. This has nothing whatsoever to do with them.:dozey:

I'm not happy with the winning results but back in the day Led Zeppelin was the best band ever and just because a band isn't around anymore , doesnt mean their music is "dead". I still love the doors and the beatles and maybe you will still listen to coldplay 30 years from now and you wouldnt appreciate comments like that.

So yeah, coldplay lost album of the year so what? It wasn't their best work anyway.

^The point is that whatever Robert Plant might have been or done in the past, this particular album totally sucked and should never have won the award.:dozey:

It makes you think the award only went to him because of his past glories.:dozey:

Its a US award show. Therefore if it's half decent and bluegrass or country-esque. And it sells alot. It's usually going to win.

That's just plain daft.:dozey:

The Grammys generally have at least one "dark horse" winner, and Plant/Krauss were certainly that dark horse, but to give them both Record and Album seems like that's pushing it to me. I always felt that best Album was going to be the biggest challenge for Coldplay, especially since Radiohead and Ne-Yo provided some excellent competition, whereas Song and Record weren't as competitive. But I didn't consider Plant/Krauss fair game.

Meh, 40 years from now, Chris Martin could very well have skin sagging from his face just like Robert Plant and will be accepting a set of Grammys. ;)

I disagree. I think it has been their most creative and daring album to date. But In Rainbows still flies in circles around anything Coldplay has ever done. But since it's America Radiohead will never win with such an abstract album. Most Americans are too stupid to appreciate Radiohead.

I haven't really listened his album so i can't agree or disagree but you might be right . But i think i would've been really pissed if coldplay had won over radiohead. Again, this is just my personal opinion.

It's the grammys people! They nominated the fucking Jonas Brothers as best new artist. How the fuck do these mickey mouse club rejects fall into the artist category? They gave a heavy metal grammy to Jethro Tull.....over Metalica. :dozey:

Hey! The Jonas Brothers should have won Best new Artist. In fact, I am shocked they weren't nominated for album of the year!

If you couldn't tell yet, I am kidding;)

didn't your momma tell you not to eat paint chips? :P

i was pretty surprised this won. i had only heard of the collaboration and the album itself, like, last week. i've always liked zeppelin and plant, but i wasn't impressed by anything i heard off this album, and i was surprised it was up. i figured the race was between lil wayne and coldplay, and that lil wayne would win, based on what i know about how judges pick these things.

however, i don't think you can go around saying this is an insult to music, or that VLVOD is the definition of a genius album. on this board you can, but in the same way as you don't think raising sand was worthy, just as many people don't think VLVOD was worthy. it's personal opinion, not fact, and it just so happens that more of the voters personally preferred raising sand. i don't think this is some huge upset in the music world, i don't think the critics are shocked or outraged. personal opinions are always going to clash, and i know most people on this board totally disagree with the award, but that doesn't make it undeserved or wrongly given.

Forgot to mention that was my personal opinion. I know viva la vida is a good album but its not great.I still prefer parachutes or rush of blood maybe because those albums were less produced and with a raw sound( especially parachutes). I think coldplay are yet to release their "ok computer" if you know what i mean.

It does in this case!!:dozey:

I suppose we should be grateful it didn't go to Miley Cyrus.
