Chris Martin reveals secret Mickey Rourke Oscar vote

Coldplay's Chris Martin has revealed he has managed to break into one of Hollywood's most exclusive clubs - with the help of his Oscar winning wife, report the Metro today.

The singer said he cast an Oscar vote for Mickey Rourke as best actor for The Wrestler after discovering his wife's secret Academy Awards voting form. Martin confessed: 'I read the instructions, which is like you've got to put your top five in order and if the number one that you've chosen isn't really doing very well, then they move on to your number two and include that with one that is doing well, if you see what I mean.'

The singer, 31, told Manchester's Key 103 Radio he backed Rourke for glory, telling: 'I did get a say on that form. I got to put a vote in. I voted for Mickey Rouke. Isn't he great in that film (The Wrestler)?'

The musician defended turning the Oscar vote into a joke insisting he wouldn't mind if actress Paltrow voted for The Brits music awards. Martin even went as far to say he would mind losing out man band Take That should that happen. 'They should win. I just think that band are awesome.'

If Rourke does win the gong then Oscar bosses will have to be on alert. He turned the air blue with his Leading Actor acceptance speech at the glitzy Bafta ceremony on Sunday. He told the audience he had been "f****** up my career for 15 years".

He also paid tribute to co-star Marisa Tomei, saying she was brave to take her clothes off, adding: "I enjoyed looking at her." After the expletive-laden thank you, Jonothan Ross joked to the audience: "After that speech, he's now suspended for three months."

You may want to check your thread title.

You'll see that it is errorred.

That is all. Good day.

Chris really likes The Wrestler...

He totally deserves the Oscar, it's a great film and an amazing performance... but I actually think Sean Penn will win for Milk

(Hope Gwyneth doesn't get a telling off from Oscar :P)

to busybeeburns, or anyone that knows... i'm brand new on this site (I still cant believe there is this huge community of Coldplay fanatics and I had no clue for the longest time - I blame the 3rd world... and the fact that I am probably as old as the hills compared to most of you), but I am intrugued by your profile photo - who is that?

Now I am curious how old you are ;) ?

age is but a number :wink3: - i;m young at heart and sometimes of mind, but I am seriously just a pup on this site, so there is much learning to be done.

chris loved the wrestler so much! now i really want to see it. i'll probably like it since he liked frost/nixon so much, too. :D

My local cinema isn't showing Frost/Nixon and I really want to see it!

I'm lucky enough to live near an AMC Theatre and for $30 I get to see all 5 Best Picture nominees AND I get all the popcorn I can eat! :D

^what promotion is that? I live like 5 minutes from a mega 24 + IMAX AMC theater.

Awww. :( I didn't like The Wrestler, nor Mickey Rourke. I'm rooting for Sean Penn.

SQUEEEEE!!! Thanks for the link!

Wait, so we need to show up at the AMC theater on Feb 21, in the morning?

Wait... it's only for one day? I didn't see that part. but if you become a 'Movie Watcher' you get in for $25 instead of $30!

Slumdog Millionaire is going to sweep Oscars :)

Mickey Rourke was miscast in The Wrestler. The part should clearly have gone to Serena Williams.
