What's up with Twilight?

Featured Replies

My personal opinion:

1. The books are okay, they are entertaining BUT they certainly aren't masterpieces.

2.The movie is rubbish.

I totally agree with the two of you. The movie was definitely funny and i doubt it was supposed to be  I've tried to watch it..twice. I still haven't finished it. It was so darn boring and the actors totally sucked. It was totally lacking the good things the book had, which was a shame.

I don't get how someone can call that movie good, seriously :\

Okay! I gave in into peer pressure! Everybody was talking about it and balbala so I finally read the book (I bought the book) which now I wish I had not done that in the first place. The book goes by so fast. I was already on chapter 12 in an hour or so. There are some parts where you giggle and makes you smile and it's all that first love emotion but the book is poorly written. I can't believe it has sold out so many copies. I could have written a better version myself. Harry Potter is way way way better not only to read but to watch the movies as well.

The twilight movie.. was poorly produced. Some of the effects were nice but the acting and some of the scenes were not made well at all! They didn't really capture the "first love" or anything romantic about it. I think they should have engaged more into that.

However, Robert P is cute though. I liked him in Harry Potter.

I remember seeing the movie with my friend and everytime robert popped up she started screaming :\

Scream in joy or terror?

I think that's because a good-sized contingent of Twilight fans were Harry/Hermione shippers that just migrated over when the HP series ended. There they were exposed to a much more romantic, 'shippy' environment where they adapted, multiplied and evolved into into a rabid species of batshit crazy mutants! (luckily there are no Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny to compete with in the Twilight series...otherwise we'd have a mass shipocide on our hands!)

Oh god. *HAS A TRAUMA*

Agreed...

And the movie is only worth watching if it doesn't cost you much, and if you want a laugh. That's why I bothered to see it

I wasted 11 dollars to be able to fully mock it!

It was worth it!

I just watched the movie the other night and my problem with it was that the characters felt so under developed. I feel like they had no depth to them and that bothered me, because it seems like it could of been a good movie otherwise. As for reading the book? not going to ever happen.

^^ That is exactly how I feel about the movie. It was so lack of emotion. I mean as two people deeply in love, they surely didn't show any emotion and connection between them. The expression on their faces were so... cold.

Hey! You forgot something.

UNCOMFORTABLY LARGE CLOSE-UPS

My Mom called me up the other day and, towards the end of the conversation, said she and my Dad really enjoyed the movie. Even more than the books. Also my two older sisters are apparently obsessed with the series.

I haven't read the books or seen the movie yet. But I keep hearing all sorts of extreme and different opinions.

Yes there are movies made from them, although their not nearly as in depth as the books, their also in Russian with English subtitles, the books are well worth reading though.

Lol see I'm not crazy I watched the first two movies they were pretty sick:)

Not to bring Harry Potter into this thread but seriously I agree with people who said it before you can't even compare the movies, the actors and the director clearly put more effort into it then the people in Twilight.

about the character being underdeveloped they are supposed to be like that. they are vampires. they are the only ones in the whole world who do not hunt humans. so they try to stay away from them, etc.

My siblings and I refused to see it on principle with all the raving lunacy surrounding it lol. But the other night we were all at a friends house and she ordered it so I thought what the hell and started watching, holy crap lol. We were laughing so hard it was unbelievable. The graphics, the acting, the script, all of it was pretty bad. My two favorite laugh out loud scenes had to be his corny ass glitter moment, and then the dramatic first meeting complete with slow motion fan action, that sends vampire dude into convulsions lmao.

I agree with the undeveloped relationship some of you were talking about, I have no idea what the books were like but I have to believe the author gave you more reasons to assume they belonged together than that movie did. The lead guy was kinda cute the few times he cracked a smile but nothing to write home about. And someone needs to seriously tell those two to lighten up, their teenagers with a crush for God sake, what was with all those breathy pauses in dialog? lol.

My mom (big fan) just bought the movie, she saw it on the theaters but I couldn't so I read the first 3 books before watching the holly movie which both my parents loved right away and I COULD HAVE MADE A SO MUCH BETTER MOVIE!!!!

I agree with everything you say. There's no love in the movie, they are all with unexpressive faces, Edward's always with bad guy/sacared/angry/retarded face when he should be very gallant, I don't know smiling and everything and Bella well not that bad considering how apathic she is. They totally screwed it up by changing almost everything in the movie. I don't know if Stephenie let it or participated with the arrangements but it sucks.

Other points:

-Rosalie's ugly when she should be like miss universe, Bella is even prettier.

-I think Billy Black should be an older man, a little older.

-Victoria does not have red hair as she was supposed to.

-I could swear that Charlie had other color of hair.

-The three bad guys should not be seen until they meet the Cullens and Bella.

Only good change: They showed the fight with James.

Best thing about the movie: The Soundtrack hahah

Best thing about the movie: The Soundtrack hahah

Speaking of which...I haven't seen it nor read the books, but my Mom's done both and she fell in love with the soundtrack. She kept going on about "Bella's Lullaby" Even posted a piece on her Facebook page (yes my Mom has a facebook page  ) which turned out to be mistitled, but by the same artist.

I looked into it on You-tube and discovered the theme is by a Korean pianist named "Yiruma". Now my Dad got me a boxset of George Winston C.D.'s for my last birthday, so I'm a sucker for good New Age, and the twilight piece, whose actual title is "River Flows In You", Just gave me chills. Having heard that, and a couple other pieces (another one called "Kiss the Rain" is also featured in the soundtrack) I just now bought and downloaded the original album it was off of, and am thoroughly enjoying it now.

While fast the song is not particularly difficult. I've already sorted out the basic melody and bass, so I can probably learn it by the time I get home from college.

I'll probably hate the movie like the rest of you, but if you liked the soundtrack, check you "Yiruma".

Actually, that's not Bella's Lullaby, I also thought it was cause it says to be on many places but if you check out the original soundtrack it is not.

The worst part is that this song is totally better that the actual Bella's Lullaby.

Totally agree. Though I have read the book and shes not a very good writer so they werent developed very well in the first place.

Hmmm... well... :uhoh2:(don't hit me! don't hit me!):uhoh2:

I love the Edward! (ahem, I mean the book series Twilight) It's not the best writing, but for a 16 year old (like me) and a whole bundle of mommy's out there, it's something worthwhile. I got the movie for my b-day and Robert Pattinson is HOT! My review would consist of a 4 star rating... idk, it got my attention & i hate reading!!!!

hahaha we have to give that to stephenie, she's made a really big bunch of teenagers read something, reading is an habit that's not so popular specially in countries like mine

Based on recurring themes in all the positive reviews I've seen. I expect I definitely really dislike this movie if I don't find Robert Pattison dropdead, OMG!OMG!, snuggle-fantasy haught....

Well...

The movie is horrible. I did not enjoy it in the slightest. The only thing I can say about that movie is: SO AWKWARD.

I really enjoyed the books. The second book wasn't that great, but I loved the fourth book. I like the ideas behind it, but if you're looking for in depth original characters and thought provoking analysis of the text I wouldn't say this is the best place to look.

If you want to be entertained, go for it.

^^ Yeah... it was akward... but it was better than i thought.

Just saw the movie. Gotta say I didn't think it was as horrible as I've heard it described, but it was pretty difficult to really enjoy. I think it was a combination of the weak, stagey development of the characters and the cheesy events and dialogue that made it really hard to emote in any way. At no point of the movie was I really enthralled, maybe because the characters were sort of numb. Plus the action at the end was so rushed to go along with it, that I never felt the sort of sympathetic pull they wanted.

I'm going to read a couple of the books out of principle (and also to get a taste of Meyer's writing), but I see where everyone's coming from. Parts of it were just plain lame.

I just have zero desire to see Twilight. I just think the whole vampire thing has been overdone.

I feel happy for the actors/actresses, though. This was a big break for them, and now they've got a shot at doing other films.

I was talking to my cousin and his boyfriend last night about twilight... they were saying how awful it was and I started to defend the books. They then told me that they had never read the books and were talking about the movie. Books were good, movie wasn't.

I would actually watch the following ones just to see if they get any better though.

I love this so much. I've watched it like 20 times and sent it to all my friends who are deranged obsessed Twilight fans, and they've all called me up squealing about how much they love it.
