Coldplay's Next Album (When Should They Release it?)

Featured Replies

I am sure all of you guys have heard the stories about Coldplay wanting to take a break after their world tour thus it means that they won't probably have a new album out in 2009. I actually do not mind. The last two years must probably been hectic (though I am sure fun) for them so I understand completley that they would want slow down for a little while. Why I think Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends was so good (and in my opinion their best album) was they took some time to experiment and try new things out (South American tour/visits) and of course Brian Eno.

I am afraid that if they release a new album this year, it will be very similar to VLV (though I am sure it would still be great) it won't be as momumental. So I am all for Coldplay to take a break. Wait a year or two, do a little touring if they want (South America, North America if they don't mind :D). I think if they take this hiatus. Their next album (whenever that will be) will be their best album yet and it will more monumental than Viva la Vida.

Well thats my input, just wanted to share, of course you are free to agree or disagree but I really wanted to get that out.

We have enough threads about this already...

Yeah! Let them take a break and experiment. There is no need to rush out another album... They're gonna have a great two years of touring and all the VLV craze...

...don't let it be a LONG break, now, I'll miss Chris :)

those are all old. The newest news we have is that they are not releasing one at the end of the year.

As I replied in the other thread, that was published back in August. They weren't even planning on the 2009 legs of the tour back then.

Honestly, I don't expect anything earlier than late 2010, maybe early 2011. There were three years in-between AROBTTH & X&Y and between X&Y & VLVODAAHF, and even though the band has a lot of energy and inspiration still, they need both downtime and time to refine material. And they've still got plenty left in their current tour.

Coldplay to release fifth album in 2009

Coldplay are planning to release a fifth album in 2009, just a year after their last chart-topping offering, Viva La Vida.

???

Why the hell do you keep posting this everywhere when you've already been told that it doesn't mean anything anymore? Can you read? My reply from last time:

The article was last updated in August 2008. That's not even the first time the subject were brought up. Very old and has been discussed to death. It's not relevant anymore. Jonny confirmed not long ago that it wasn't going to happen. Click here and you will see for yourself.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they will release it when it's finished. :dozey:

Yeah 2011... that's when i graduate HS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they will release it when it's finished. :dozey:

Ha! Was just about to post that.

They will never release it because Chris is about to turn into an alien and fly off up to space, where he will meet a wise man who owns a huge cat, and that cat will try and replace him in the band for a TV series called "Species Swap", the cat will turn into a drug taking alcoholic and this will 'cause the band to fall apart and never play together again until they are about 60.

However, Chris successfully portrayed the big cat.

Or just when it's finished, yeah.

I don't think they'll release it when its finished. They'll wait.

I personally think about mid 2010. They get a little break, and I don't know how much longer I could wait after then. But I suppose end of 2010 would be alright.

Btw, Briggins I love your sig :laugh3:. And yes i'm one of the people who goes to all the trouble of reading it.

i think 1-2 years.

it'll be better this way. they have time with their families and they have time to make this album better than ever!!

then they can do a world tour, and come back to philly FOUR times instead of three!!!

!

The Oracle denied anything about them going on a break 8D but of course it is acceptable, if they must...

uapita dc yo pongo lo que me sale del c..ug11

1 or 2 year by now, let them rest :wink3:

Like someone already said, late 2010 or early 2011. They should take their time and try new things.

They should get some rest first, unless they want to collapse on me :wink3:

They should release it whenever they get it finished to a high standard, there is no point in rushing the album out.
