Im daydreaming....but how cool would this be? Coldplay meet up.

Featured Replies

How awesome would it be to have a big meet up say in 2010, somewhere like NYC or London to tie in with a concert the guys are playing somewhere. How cool if we could then get them to play a small, intimate gig for their most loving, loyal and diehard fans....dream a little dream......:laugh3:

Has anyone ever attempted a big meet up?

it'd be cool but it'll never happen

just enjoy their video to this site and the postcards. that's as close as this site is gonna get to band recognition most likely

WHAT? Please explain!

Here's something to ponder....some artists have fan clubs that hold annual conventions where members of the fan club meet, go to a concert, meet the artists, and/or celebrate the artists's music. Normally, these fan clubs work something out with the management where the artists can come and signed autographs or whatever. These fan clubs are official fan clubs that are recognized by the artists's and their management. Sometimes, the fan club members can buy special tickets at a reduce rate and they get the best seats.

Like I said, these conventions are on an annual basis and are normally set around the same location and time of the year. Even if the artists are not on the road, the conventions still go on and these artists may or may not appear. I know something about this because I've been to one a couple of years ago.

I'm not saying that this would happen but having an annual Coldplay convention would be nice and it would definitely get the band's attention.

this sounds like the most amazing thing ever Tracy!!! which band did u go to for one of these conventions!?! Coldplay does love their fans :D:D:D and if its only for one day out of the year im sure they could fit that in  i hope...... anyway this sounds marvelous! :nice: thanks!

MMM let's start one!!

Well, I think an official fan club would be nice, but one must remember that it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to run these clubs.

I will say that fan clubs that do these conventions have yearly membership dues to help with the costs of things. Normally, it takes a few years before a convention actually happens because one needs to build membership. The convention I went to had people selling merchandise, there was a lunch/dinner, a speaker (member of the band) and there were other activities.

Anyway, I think it would be nice if there was an official fan club with bases in Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and the Far East.

One more thing...the concert tickets that members can get, well, the fan club only has a select number of them but they are the best seats and a little bit cheaper.

Sometimes, if you believe your daydream has happened, and feel now how good it makes you feel, then the universe somehow brings it all together to make it happen for you. Happened to me when I met Jonny and Guy. :D But you have to do your part too. Nothing's impossible.

that sounds like a brilliant idea. i want to do my part too!

but is there a reason why there is no official coldplay fan club before? i mean besides the work and all that..

wasn't there an official Coldplay fan club previously? i seem to somehow recall having seen such a thing before...

but i like tracylynn's idea. sounds kinda like what Linkin Park has for their fans via LP Underground, which is also cool, cos their annual membership includes stuff like access to pre sale tickets + meet & greet passes.

I don't know. I do believe there was an official forum but that got shut down but I am not totally sure about that.

IMO, it would be easier if the official fan club was associated with this forum since the fans are already here. I think the thing that people wonder about is how many fans would be willing to pay annual membership? I know I would do it.

wow well i bet there are enough coldplayers on this site alone that would be willing to pay the membership! :D i know in a heart beat i would!! :nice:

there used to be an official forum, and it was going to be re-done along with the website, but they decided to not have an official forum because there was a lot of drama. it was kept up for a while after that, but it was basically dead and a few months ago it disappeared completely.

if it was an annual membership fee and it was something i could afford then i'd have no problem either.

I don't know the average membership fee but normally membership fees for fan clubs start at $25 (US currency). But, those fees give enables the club to provide a welcome gift, newsletter, and so on for the members.

i've been badgering people, both official and unofficial, for this for years! i've never gotten a reply, of course, but i bet people have seen me banging on about it in countless other threads :P

coldplay NEEDS an official fan club. i'm not so familiar with the convention end of it all, but i do have some familiarity with official band fan clubs and all the benefits for both the fans and the band. the best, most functional fan clubs charge an initial joining fee and then an annual renewal charge which keeps the club in business, and i'm 100% positive that a coldplay club would have THOUSANDS of members. of course, the initial fee is usually high enough to deter just the casual fans and keeps the benefits for the people that would really use them, but i think most people on this site would be willing to pay $50 or so once and then $20 or so each year after that. to me, the main point of a fan club is for tickets, and in my experience, bands tend to set aside a certain number of tickets per show for fan club members only and sell them through their site before the rest of the tickets go onsale (and often, these tickets are in good locations for decent prices). and then there are the other possible benefits of being a member, such as exclusive newsletters or christmas presents or special merchandise. coldplay would make a killing if they had an official fan club, though i don't think anything is going to happen in that field until if and when they get off of EMI.

my mom routinely tells me to drop out of uni and go start a fanclub good enough so that coldplay would want to buy it and make it official (she's actually only half-kidding :P). she's been a member of the pearl jam fan club for many years, and that's how their fan club started: two diehard fans in a home office. the band took notice and bought the rights for it (but kept the original guys running it ), and the rest is history. i'd KILL to do something like that...my mom claims she could even get me in touch with the two PJ guys

i say keep dreaming! :D

but for the near future, i think the 100+ coldplayer meetup at wembley is as good as we're going to get.
