The Simpsons vs Family Guy

Featured Replies

Which is better. Personally both are hilarious BUT there is no contest here. The Simpsons have always been superior. 100 times more witty than the Griffins and co. I watch Family Guy just to have some cheap laughs and they are hilarious but nothing will beat the charm and wit of the greatest American family ever.... even better than The Waltons.

Family guy.

the simpsons isn't funny at all anymore.

it used to be years ago.

this thread should be a poll.

Neither are entertaining or clever at the moment.

But The Simpsons wins because at one point - a decade ago - it actually was entertaining and clever. And because once in a blue moon, it will still pump out an episode that makes me smile.

I could go on a long cliched rant about Family Guy, but I won't. Basically random, non-subtle, slapstick humor never did any favors for me.

Family guy do a great job of cutting people down, which is always hilarious.

Simpsons, a legacy. No comparison.

The difference between the two is contrasting, despite Family Guy obviously ripping off some old Simpson gags. You'll remember a Simpsons episode for ever but you'll forget a Family Guy one within hours.

The Simpsons, but only the older episodes. All the new ones suck and just try to be Family Guy.

Classic Simpsons episodes were great.

the simpsons, their older stuff was much greater, and family guy has never been

Funnily enough this topic of discussion made the Melbourne Paper, 'The Age' today!!

Here's proof:

I stopped watching The Simpsons a long time ago, a little after the movie. It really went down for me because of the new voices in spanish, the first ones were the best of the best, there's no other Homero Simpson than Humberto Velez but anyway I'm not into them that much anymore. I've recently watched a little of Family Guys in english and it's better than the spanish voices and it's pretty good but I think The Simpsons are still better

The period between series 5 and series 10 of the simpsons still stands as the best period, these days the really good episodes are lost in between really shit episodes, and on that count Family Guy is better.

However American Dad beats both hands down, so does Futuramana, which is spelt wrong but who the fu'k cares?

In terms of consistent quality, Futurama may be the best cartoon ever on that front. I got around to watching their 4 new DVD-exclusive releases, and all but the 3rd one are really good. But I'm not counting on any full revival.

American Dad is an okay show that's probably better than modern Family Guy but nothing I watch regularly.

Peoeple debate the Simpsons' "golden" age. I tend to mark it from Seasons 2-9. There sometimes are great episodes that still pop up every now and then; shame they are indeed lost among the heaps of garbage.

I think it was season 8 when you had great episode after great episode.

I agree wholeheartedly.
