Im not trying to be funny or start a flame war or anything,but im just listening to Parachutes here and its genius!!!!!!

 

I dont what happened with VLV but its quite easily their worst album,its so mainstream and bland.It makes me really sad :-(

right VLV is so much different from the other albums but it's still good

the music in it doesn't sound like yellow clocks or speed of sound but really the songs in VLV are amazing and still the touch of coldplay is in it

 

so sorry VLV is the best album just like the others :)

you can't say VLV is their wrost album without saying why it is except that is "so mainstream and bland"..

i mean, don't get me wrong; parachutes is my favorite album.

but there is many reason why i love VLV also.

It really depends on your own personal taste I guess. I know there are some people here who don't like Parachutes at all and love VLV. Personally, AROBTTH is my favorite but I love all of their albums for different reasons.

 

Actually, when I first heard Violet Hill I was like :shocked2:, it was so different from anything they had done and there was :gasp: GROUP SINGING. It took a while for some of the new stuff to grow on me and I go through phases of liking/not liking some of their songs regardless of what album their from.

I dont know,when i first heard Coldplay they had weird chord changes and interesting melodies.Listen to I Bloom Blaum,I Ran Away and songs from that era and theyre all stunning.I just listen to stuff on VLV like Lost and LIJ and think this is incredible bland.

Well...I gues it's your personal opinion, but VLV is DEFINITELY different from their other albums. For me, X & Y is my personal favorite...I can't stop listening to it!

Viva BLAND?!?!? no. its the least bland out of the lot. but it does really matter to me what you think, as long as you still like coldplay in the end

I actually think X&Y is more mainstream than VLVODAAHF. Songs like 42, Yes, and Strawberry Swing are totally genius but wouldn't ever cut it as mainstream singles.

i actually think all their songs are the opposite of mainstream. vlv just became a big hit, so, people thought it was mainstream.

 

 

vlv&daaohf is just different than any other album. still fresh, still genius, still coldplay.

I kinda agree. But Viva La Vida (the song) -- you have to admit that's pretty mainstream. I mean, it isn't bad, but it is mainstream.

 

I prefer older Coldplay stuff (b-sides especially for some reason.) I think they had a lot of great ballads/love songs, but then after years of only making basically only ballads and love songs, I think the ideas sort of dried up and they had to make a poppy album like Viva La Vida.

Its sad,ive been to loads of Coldplay concerts in my time and think they have been some of the best ive been too.I even met Chris Martin as i wrote on here but with the latest concerts im not that bothered in going to :-( Everything just seems so over produced and "unraw" these days.

It is, sort of, I think. It's far more "poppy" than any of their earlier work. I don't dislike it or anything, but some of the songs just sound... poppish to me. Like Lovers In Japan.

I don't really agree on this. Overly produced? Did you ever hear X&Y? That one was a bit overproduced, but I still love it. I don't think Coldplay is mainstream at all, VLV(the song) sounds a bit poppish, the lyrics arn't poppy at all. Not if you compare VLV to poppy songs. At least that's what I think.

That's true, but it isn't JUST the lyrics that make the song. The instrumentals on Viva are just poppy-sounding in my opinion. It isn't like it makes it a bad album or anything, I just personally prefer the older Coldplay.

 

also, yeah, I have heard X&Y. It's a great album. I don't care that others say it's overproduced. Although it is way too long.
