Cobalt
July Novel Writing Month (JulNoWriMo) 2009 starts in a week. The challenge: 50,000 words (a novel) written from 1st July - 31st July. Are you up to it? Anyone participating apart from myself? I think I suggested it to the fanfic writers in our forum. Of course, just to refresh, from the NaNoWriMo wiki page as rules are the same: "Participants' novels can be on any theme and in any genre, and in any language. Everything from fanfiction, which uses trademarked characters, to novels in poem format, and even metafiction is allowed; according to the website's FAQ, "If you believe you're writing a novel, we believe you're writing a novel too." Advance planning and extensive notes are permitted, but no earlier written material can go into the body of the novel, nor is one allowed to start early and then finish 30 days from that start point. Participants write either a complete novel of 50,000 words, or simply the first 50,000 words of a novel to be completed later. No official prizes are awarded for length, quality, or speed. Anyone who reaches the 50,000 word mark is declared a winner. No precautions are taken to prevent cheating; since the only significant reward for winning is the finished novel itself and the satisfaction of having written it, there is little incentive to cheat. It is possible to win without anyone (other than the author) ever seeing or reading the novel." http://julnowrimo.com/
busybeeburns
no mention of plagiarism, I've written mine already! It's called "20,000 leagues under the sea"! Seriously though, lots of people here will have no problem writing 50000 words!

Darlene_Ihnfsa
no no edu, according to the rules, the novel can be written in any language, and so the winner is the one that gets to write a 50000 words text in any format you want it to be.... but the point were says that is acceptable to send just 50000 words of a novel even when the novel is longer in real, i find it to cheat. now i have to go think of a plot. but one question emma... why from 1st july to 30th july? i mean we can send it on any date between those days, or write it all in just those days?. Cobalt
but one question emma... why from 1st july to 30th july? i mean we can send it on any date between those days, or write it all in just those days?. You just have to write the first 50,000 words between those days. It doesn't have to be finished. In other news, I have a troubling situation, I had a dream in which an epic story unfolded but I don't wanna give up on my old story
RedGirl76
Would love to try (even though I failed miserably at it last November) but July is just crazy-busy for me, and I'm away for the third week. Can't imagine I'd get anywhere close. ...though even as I write this I'm getting more and more tempted :laugh3:
