August 29, 200322 yr listen more to the music or the words when you hear a song? I know people are going to answer both, but I must say that I am more musically inclined when I listen to a song. Sometimes I can sing along to a song and not even know what I am singing. It's weird. My sister on the other hand always listens to the words....
August 29, 200322 yr it depends on a song actually. some songs have crappy words and good music and that`s when i listen to the music while some have better lyrics and not so good music - that`s when i`m attached to the lyrics. most of the songs i like have both good music and lyrics so i listen to them both equaly. if that makes any sense. cough
August 29, 200322 yr I listen to the words more. Some bands have amazing lyrics and music. Like Tool! "I know the pieces fit, because I watched them fall away...."
August 29, 200322 yr yeah tool is amazing! i like 'i will find a centre in you. i will chew it up and leave' (i hope i didn`t mess anyffin up)
August 29, 200322 yr yea, I think ur right. Sober is a sweet song. Tool always seems to say "think for yourselves, and don't take anything at face value."
August 29, 200322 yr For me it depends on how many times I've heard it. If its the first time I listen to both to see how the lyrics fit the music. Usually though its whichever comes first in the song like if the intro is long and its only music then I'll tend to listen to the music for the rest of the song. If I've heard the song quite a few times I listen for certain instruments like bass and violin in Bittersweet symphony, and I just listen to what those instruments are doing.
August 29, 200322 yr both but if the lyrics are trash like fuck every word and complete swearing. then no.
August 29, 200322 yr First the music, the melody... just because I have to pay more attention to the lyrics if I wanna understand them :/ But it's perfect if harmony and lyrics are good, of course!!
August 29, 200322 yr Author ooo I love the violins in "Bittersweet symphony"...that's one of the main reasons I love that song! I do listen to lyrics at times, it's just that I usually focus more on the music unless the lyrics have totally captured my interest! For example..Alejandro Sanz has some lyrics that are great.... (I know no one knows him)
August 29, 200322 yr He's a spanish singer/songwriter. Really really famous here... although it's not my kind of music
August 29, 200322 yr Author he's a Spanish singer... What music is popular over there in France? Do they play Les Nubians or Julien there?
August 29, 200322 yr Author Oh the Verve is on!!! Cool i like em! Listening to Lucky man. Sorry off topic. More posts about music or lyrics....
August 30, 200322 yr i usually only discover great lyrics in a song after i've already been listening to it for months or something.... so i guess i have to say music, which i guess could explain why i listen to a lot more instrumental music than most people (classical, jazz, or rock, it's all good). the way i see it, you can have shitty lyrics and still have a great song (coldplay excel at that) but i've never changed my mind about a song because the lyrics were great. i'll just say "yeah that song sucks but the lyrics are great." see how i always talk too much?
