One thing you don't like about Coldplay?

wow,

12 pages of coldplay gripes:shocked2:

my only issue is that theyve become too big, like..... it would've been a lot easier to find a way to meet them before viva la vida

theyre so famously far away from the every day joe

and i despise the stupid viva bandwagon fans who have never even heard of trouble or shiver

i pride myself on being a fan since i was like... 12

Completely the same!!!They are becoming too popular:confused:It annoys me to see somebody on their concert who came here only to have fun and drink some beer with friends and maybe to hear the only Viva la vida:dozey: The band doesn't deserve such treatment

Off topic but.. omg your sig lolz :laugh3: ITA, that too is my biggest issue with them. They've become so massive now they're just too popular. Not that that's their fault, and they deserve the succsess in every way, but in some respects it is a negative.... like the fact that they are, especially Chris, celebrities and that makes it almost impossible to meet them in a non-stalkerish way (like hanging around near the Bakery for days ). They no longer greet fans after gigs because they're so big. I mean, it makes you sad, cause if you were like me and didn't go to one of their earlier concerts you've kind of missed the chance now. :\ I'm not a "viva bandwagon fan" myself as I've listened and loved their music since I was about 12. But not all viva bandwagon fans don't know shiver or trouble cause there are some here you know! :P

I too hate those people who claim to be Coldplay fans but in reality haven't heard any of their songs past X&Y era and haven't actually listened to those albums. The two CP gigs I've been to so far, it annoys me so much when your near people that don't remember the lyrics properly and just want to slop beer around and half correctly sing Viva La Vida and Fix You. Gets on my nerves so much cause their tickets should have gone to someone who truly appreciates the band, as in takes the time to listen to their music properly before paying £40+ to go to their concert.

completely agree. it makes me depressed to think that i missed the chance to go to a coldplay concert like it was in the earlier days. i had waited since i was 12 to go to a coldplay concert. my mom never let me cuz she said i was too young =(

then finally when i was 18 (going to be 19) i got the chance to go to my first coldplay concert, and i thought it was gonna be different. i imagined it like in the live 2003 dvd. hundreds of true fans singing along to coldplay. the way it should be! but the one i went to there was a bunch of weirdos who didnt know the words to many of the songs and didnt have much energy for the show. all they did was drink beer and bob their heads. and then some idiot was getting high somewhere behind me! i was like what the hell IS this???

i was very sad because it made me realize i was among a bunch of viva bandwagon fans. those seats could have been for a more dedicated fan. of course i still had the best time of my life. even though i hated all those losers that were closer to the b-stage than i was!!

Never been to a Coldplay concert, and I really want to go...

What I also don't like about Coldplay are the some tracks from Viva that are put on Prospekt's March. Yes, I enjoy listening to a Reign of Love-less version of LiJ, and Jay-Z's rap adds a new dimension to Lost, but I feel like those places on the album could've been filled with more interesting, mysterious songs like Famous Old Painters or School, etc. Sometimes rehashing and revamping old content isn't good because the public is always waiting for new material.

i dont have a single poster.. :(

i found two, but my sister took them

The fans...

Idiots!

I joke i joke!

They're lovely.

The only thing i can think of is...

D:

they don't do too many interviews

( but then again, that makes it better because they're not seen as that kind of band looking for publicity )

oh maybe that loads of great tracks don't get on the albums...

( but then they're like little secrets for coldplay fans )

:D

I can't think of any...

:laugh3:

I completely know how you feel because I'm the same age as you and that's exactly how I felt when I went to my first CP concert in December last year!! I'd loved their music since I was 12 and my Dad first bought Parachutes but I'd never got the chance to go to a concert because in the Politik period my parents thought I was too young to go to music concerts and also the tickets were so expensive that my Dad would have had to pay for me and my family to go too and then when X&Y came out I missed the chance to get tickets and I just didn't end up going to any gigs until I was 17. :(

And so when I finally got tickets to see CP for the first time I was so excited and obv had high expectations from the gigs I'd seen clips of on TV and listening to the 2003 from Sydney album. And when I actually went it was kinda a let down cause I'd only managed to get seats very high up in the stadium and we were next to a bunch of 30+ boring old idiots that either didn't bother to clap or sing or anything or sung the lyrics to the only tracks they knew loud and incorrectly! I just couldn't understand it, where were the real fans? There only seemed to be any right in the best seats at the front. So the atmosphere was kind of ruined near us and it's hard to enjoy it as much as you thought you would. :\

Then I was lucky enough to get standing tickets for Wembley in September and although it was a fantastic night and the atmosphere was amazing I had set my heart on getting in the pit area near the walkways but although when my brother and me got through you could still get pretty close we decided to give up because we knew we wouldn't be able to get out again in the six hours we were going to be standing there without loosing our place because it was filling up so quickly. So later when we tried to get through in the interval before Jay-Z I felt really p'd off with the amount of people in the pit who did not to me seem like real Coldplay fans but just idiots wanting to mess around with their beer and shout. There seems to be a big problem with people like that at British gigs. I went to a Keane gig and it was the same. They were all rude and not very nice and weren't real fans at all! I mean, some of them tried to throw their beer cups on to the stage and attempt to hit one of the band. So stupid and immature. Although in the end we did get good level 1 unreserved seats pretty near the stage the people we were with couldn't be bothered to sing to most of the songs and I felt out of place being so enthusiastic. It kind of puts a damper on things. But in the end it didn't matter too much cause it felt like the majority of the stadium was singing along, especially the front of the pit (where I wish I'd been!).

But I know what you mean cause it's kind of sad, it makes you feel like alot of those fans from back when CP were smaller aren't there any more or something. I would cut my right arm off to go back in time and be at one of their more intimate gigs. If only I had been 5 years older than I am. back in 03 :( My dream is to see them in a smaller venue next tour, but that depends on whether they do any in my country that it's possible to get tickets for. I think the live from Sydney DVD concert looked like an exceptionally good gig crowd wise, it was just such an appreciative audience!

I totally agree. I went to my first Coldplay concert in July and when I saw it in my head, I saw it just like the Live 2003 album with everyone singing, having a great attitude along with all these phenomenal songs being played with great effects, etc.

Oh God. I should have saved my money and just taped a tiny picture of Coldplay on the wall, play all their singles at a low volume, put 50 empty bottles of beer under my seat and hire a drunk guy to sit next to me and yell 'PLAY I USED TO RULE THE WORLD!!!' I felt like I was the only one there who gave a damn about their music.

I suppose it's not entirely their fault, but still I wasn't very pleased considering we had to pay $450 for 3 seats. I just hope that with this new LP5 they use all the fame they've gotten from Viva and show to the world their real talent.

^ Yeah. I consider myself a 'fan' of a band when I've actually listened to all of their songs and seen what they're really about, not because I heard one of their songs on a mainstream radio station.

this is why

wee need instead of a CAPTCHA for customers to fill out before you buy the tickets,

A quiz on coldplay!

biggest fans= best scores = best seats

and the turds who dont know shiver from strawberry swing can be unenthusiastic, obnoxious prats waaaaaayyyy in the back where the true fans and band dont have to deal with them

YES!

.... i seriously think we should propose the idea

:laugh3: Bwahaha! What a f-in awesome idea, I thoroughly support it  Would be great to have all the proper Coldplay fans and appreciate-ers in the best seats and nearest to the stage. That whey we can all have a proper good time without the incorrect-lyrics-singing-drunken-shouting-beer-and-cup-throwing-i-LOVE-this-song-what's-it-called-oh-yeah-when-i-ruled-the-world idiots! :P I love it! We should definitely suggest ;) :smug:

i know right? itd be like a big family of coldplayers in the pit!

it'd make it sooo much more enjoyable

i say next tour, we all write that proposition to coldplay in a letter and toss it onto the stage!

if they get the same note over and over again in different countries/ cities

they eventually will realize the magnitude of people behind the idea and might actually make it happen

who knows?:D
