August 22, 200916 yr One thing. I don't see why people think "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for" is such an *amazing* lyric. And I agree, the lyrics to 42 are horrible. That is all.

August 22, 200916 yr :stunned: FUCK YOU. A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD IS A MASTERPIECE. :veryangry2: I'm not saying it's a bad song. I like it, but it's not my favorite. I'm guessing the reason a lot people love it so much is because they're anti-war or something. I could be wrong.

August 22, 200916 yr Ummmm I'm totally anti-gun control; I'm not some hippie bastard. I just think it's a beautiful lyric and it's basically saying "I'd do anything for you". I see now... I never saw it as a love song before. I think I actually like this song more now that this is clarified.
August 22, 200916 yr I see now... I never saw it as a love song before. I think I actually like this song more now that this is clarified. Oh I'm going to buy this place and start a fire Stand here until I fill all your heart's desires Because I'm going to buy this place and see it burn Do back the things it did to you in return (I'll do anything for you, and fix my mistakes) All the movements you're starting to make See me crumble and fall on my face And I know the mistakes that I made See it all disappear without a trace (I made mistakes, take me back) So meet me by the bridge, meet me by the lane When am I going to see that pretty face again Meet me on the road, meet me where I said Blame it all upon A rush of blood to the head (Some of Chris's best lyrics here, he wants to know when she's going to take him back)
August 22, 200916 yr Thanks for explaining more, Josh. :nice: *is sorry for the blasphemous statement at the top of the page*
August 22, 200916 yr Thanks for explaining more, Josh. :nice: *is sorry for the blasphemous statement at the top of the page* It's allll good :)
August 23, 200916 yr I thought it was an unfair comparison. :P Why take one of the best lyrics from your favorite album and choose to compare it with one of the worst lyrics from the album/era you don't like?
August 23, 200916 yr I havent read through the whole topic, and it may have been said before, but my major problem with modern day Coldplay is how often they use pre-recorded music during their shows... They're talanted musicians.... why cant they just play it? Putting on a 'big show' has become more important than the music.. which is very sad to see. Why use pre-recorded piano in Lovers in Japan while Chris Martin just runs around? Why cant he play it?

August 23, 200916 yr thanks for the support... I was expecting to get roasted... lots of people here dont seem to be able to have a mature conversation about something negative relating to the band... how many 'if you dont like them, fuck off' posts are there in this thread?
August 23, 200916 yr Why? They used to be rock, now they're pop. They use to be endearingly self-depricating, now it just seems insincere. Chris used to hang out with Tim from Ash, now it's Jay-Z. Guy used to be a raging alcohol diva, now he just takes photos. It used to go "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for", now it goes "those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head." They used to wear pants and a t-shirt, now they wear costumes. Jonny used to have his amazing slide solos, now he gets nothing. Chris used to idolize Radiohead, now he idolizes Beyonce. Chris used to be able to hit all the notes, now he just dances. Add on to the list you guys. Funny how you join the forum AFTER viva la vida was released. Coincidence?
August 23, 200916 yr Funny how you join the forum AFTER viva la vida was released. Coincidence? I dont see how this is relevant Are you only a real Coldplay fan if you're a member of this forum?
August 23, 200916 yr they debate this all the time. its really gay. it doesnt matter when you joined. i used to creep on here, before i even decided to join. then still i didnt start using it till about a few months ago ?

I dont see how this is relevant Are you only a real Coldplay fan if you're a member of this forum? .
August 23, 200916 yr Funny how you join the forum AFTER viva la vida was released. Coincidence? Like many others, I joined the forum after Viva was released, but I've been a fan for quite a while  I can't say I'm incredibly crazy about their new album. There are some songs that I love (Strawberry Swing :D) and some that I like more or less. I guess right now I'm more into the Parachutes era :D
August 23, 200916 yr I joined before Viva was released, in the lead-up, and I don't think it's that great, I mean it was at first but then it wore off. There just seems to be a trend where all the ones that joined after it came out think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
August 23, 200916 yr I dont see how this is relevant Are you only a real Coldplay fan if you're a member of this forum? Yeah, it's completely irrelevent. I didn't join this forum until February this year. I've been a fan from the beginning. I browsed around this site for many years before finally deciding (and having the time) to join and post.
August 23, 200916 yr They used to be rock, now they're pop. --- Is that a bad thing? I don't think they were ever truly 'rock'. Sure, Viva la Vida is quite a poppy track but what else on the album is pop? They use to be endearingly self-depricating, now it just seems insincere. --- I think this is because they're so much bigger than they were that any attempts at self-deprecation just screams insincere. I agree with you but it's only Chris that really does this. Chris used to hang out with Tim from Ash, now it's Jay-Z. --- How do you know this? Have you been stalking Chris? Has Chris deleted Tim on Facebook? Aww... Guy used to be a raging alcohol diva, now he just takes photos. --- Is this not just a huge over-simplification of his life based on what you read about him on your computer? It used to go "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for", now it goes "those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head." --- What's your point? Lyrics from two Coldplay songs. First is slightly clunky, second a bit more like stoner poetry. They used to wear pants and a t-shirt, now they wear costumes. --- If you make an effort on stage your music suddenly becomes awful? Someone should tell Bjork, Bowie, Madonna, U2, etc. Jonny used to have his amazing slide solos, now he gets nothing. --- He used to have one. In AROBTTH. Live. Now he gets solos on most of new album. Chris used to idolize Radiohead, now he idolizes Beyonce. --- I think they still do idolize Radiohead, they just don't rip them off as much. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing. I think they just have more idols now than they used to. At The Bakery don't they have framed pictures of John Lennon, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Mozart, Jay-Z etc.? Chris used to be able to hit all the notes, now he just dances. --- Lovers in Japan has the highest note he's ever sung and he hits it pretty much every night. I think it's easier to hit all the notes if you stand still. But, in front of 20-30,000 people, it's also less interesting to watch. Also, they started using pre-recorded tracks on the AROBTTH tour so why is it a problem now? It's pretty much standard practice anyway.
August 23, 200916 yr Chris used to hang out with Tim from Ash, now it's Jay-Z. --- How do you know this? Have you been stalking Chris? Has Chris deleted Tim on Facebook? Aww... :laugh3: Chris used to be able to hit all the notes, now he just dances. --- Lovers in Japan has the highest note he's ever sung and he hits it pretty much every night. LiJ's chorus can be quite hard to sing. :\
