I announced this 5 days before this thread in Releases where I thought it most appropriate, only to get two responses.

Seriously, do people just not like me or something? :P Come on guys, it's not like it would be THAT hard to miss.

[/complain]

Also I will be getting this but I'm burning another copy off a torrent with the whole performance. Only 9 hours? I doubt the "special features" will be too special as well

Some random facts tho, the Melbourne concert had 80,587 people attending with a profit of $6.9mil, Sydney had 36,844 people attending with a profit of $1.9mil (they lost out on a lot of cash at Sydney in corporate suites).

Joy, random intriguing stuff!

Saturday 7 February 2009 will forever be known as Black Saturday. On this day the worst bushfires in the history of Australia caused devastation across Victoria like never seen before. The effect this terrible tragedy had was felt not only here, but worldwide. Almost simultaneously Queensland was undergoing its own tragedy, with the state experiencing widespread flooding. In response to our nation's greatest ever natural disasters, Australia's music community, along with some of the biggest music names internationally, banded together for two stadium benefit concerts that ran simultaneously in both Melbourne and Sydney under the unified banner SOUND RELIEF. The final result of over $8 million raised is an achievement that everyone should be proud of. It is fitting that such a tremendous event can be immortalised on DVD and the generosity of the artists involved must again be acknowledged and commended. Thanks should also be given to all the individuals and companies that contributed their time and resources to make Sound Relief such a resounding success. After 4 long months of clearing the project, every artist, record label and publisher have donated 100% of their royalties and all profits from the sale of this DVD will go to fund Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Projects, which develop programs and resources to better prepare communities for disasters such as Bushfires and Floods. 9 hours of footage over 4 discs. featuring every artist, documenting the biggest concerts in Australian music history.

I don't think this is worth it. Coldplay is the only band on that list I even like, and they only perform 3 songs. And if I want to watch Chris run, I can watch it on youtube:shrug:

+1 even if I like Jack Johnson too...

But seriously 3 songs is not enough !

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

Hi!

This is what I found:

http://dstore.com.au/dvd-and-blu-ray/Various-Artists-Sound-Relief/10866583.html

Anyone knows if there are some extras on the DVD? Like a documentary?

whoa...out of stock already?

i'm definitely getting this DVD anyway...once i have the cash...like next month...probably... :\

my fave Aussie state Victoria was hit very badly by this year's bush fires incl Gippsland & poor little Churchill town where i studied for 3 wonderful years.. so it'll be more as a show of support for the Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Projects than for the (miserable!) 3 Coldplay tracks only & footage of Chris' run during Fix You & that 1 Kylie track.

Some random facts tho, the Melbourne concert had 80,587 people attending with a profit of $6.9mil, Sydney had 36,844 people attending with a profit of $1.9mil (they lost out on a lot of cash at Sydney in corporate suites).

Did not know that. Intriguing!

^^ :nice: Glad someone found it interesting!

Regarding the DVD, I have no idea why Barry Gibb and Olivia Newton John have like a whole set there. Practically everyone left after The Presets, and a few more after Icehouse. Probably only because they're a big name act

That, and Bliss N Eso got more than Coldplay. Honestly? I went to Sydney to avoid them as well.

At least there's only one Marcia Hines one :awesome: not many cared and were waiting for whatever was next.

Does anyone have the whole coldplay set in mp4. i only have it except for fix you

^^ Glad someone found it interesting!

Probably because they want to emphasise the Australian acts. Shame about Marcia though.
