Singles give an artist a chance to show off new/unheard material :) They're great, but bands like Coldplay and Radiohead just don't chart. Too many sh*t pop artists are around, like Lady Gaga, JLS (Uk citizens) and others. So, accualy, singles for Coldplay ARE a waste of time.
