The first single from tame impala's debut record Innerspeaker will be premiered on triple j at 8am tomorrow. The album out May 14 is arguably the most anticipated debut of 2010 after their wildly successful EP. Having heard several of the new tracks at the bands mediocre BDO appearances I am hoping to pleasantly surprised by this new track.

i feel out of place enough at gigs when im with a group of mates. being alone would make me really uncomfortable. but i guess with JBT its at the apple store so i can pretend im shopping for my second macbook in as many months while watching the gig lol.

i havent been to a show in 4 weeks and im really missing it! just really sucks that ive set myself a motto to never make friends based purely on their music tastes. if i didnt have that self-imposed policy i might not have as much trouble!!

Going to a concert with friends and stuff makes me really self-conscious >_<

Found this amazing channel on youtube!!

its a channel dedicated to the Falls Festival which takes place every year around new years time. usually the only professional footage from the festival is the stuff triple j do but this youtube channel has over 100 videos from the festival, mostly footage from last years event at Lorne. you have live performances from temper trap, grizzly bear, yeah yeah yeahs, midnight juggernauts and a ton of others. well worth checking out.

I have to go to every concert with my dad :P

I honestly can't imagine what that would be like.

It's alright with my dad, as he's pretty cool...

I'm going to a show with a friend next week though :awesome:

Really? Ive been to 3 gigs with dad, we went to see the cribs last month. He's pretty much why I like music so much, he loves all the england bands I do... I have him to thank! Oh and he goes to very BDO too

Really good, Johnny Marr was superb and ice cool. They played a good set but it was a bit short. Got a setlist.

My dad is a U2 fan so that is kind of our father-son concert bonding experience. We've gone to a few other shows together.

That's awesome!

I never said it'd be a bad thing :P I think my Dad wants to come see Muse with me sometime in the future, as long as he can get a seat :P

The Strokes are in town late july and i really want to go!! but 90 bucks! what a rip off! if they promised Is This It from start to finish then i would consider more strongly.

Oh man didnt know it was that much. CRAP

In other news... Lisa Mitchell is touring in April/May. Did everyone know that?

yeah. shes playing the same night as vampire weekend is in western sydney so i'll have to miss her. but i saw her play a 40min set at BDO where she did basically every song i wanted to hear of hers. maybe on next album tour i might go see her own headlining shows.

for anyone on here who uses fasterlouder forums who would know about the constant discussion on there about aussies bands continuously touring australia, some twice a year, most at least every year. they tend to be the bands who have been around for a long time but struggled to crack foreign markets. they also struggle to play venues bigger than metro or enmore in sydney (ie 1500 seaters). in my opinion these two issues go hand in hand. i understand that it is much more expensive and less profitable to tour overseas than it is home. but if these bands took a risk and spent alot more time in europe and the US then their fans back home would actually miss them and instead of thinking "oh screw it i'll miss them this time but i'll check them out when they tour sydney in 3 months" they might go out of their way to see them live. which will mean more demand for their shows in turn bigger venues. they need to realise that their aussie fans will always be there, triple j or 3RRR or fbi will always play their music and they'll be loved just for being aussie. but england, europe and the US will forget them in a snap if they dont remain active over there.

i know its much easier said than done. but the success of cut copy, angus n julia stone and the john butler trio overseas through constant touring is proof that basing yourself elsewhere works pretty well. Violent Soho have taken that initiative lately and i think it will pay dividends for them.

australias obsession with pink is very disturbing.

i also found it really interesting how the albums list is dominated by albums that came out early in the decade while the singles list has a far great representation of tracks from the last couple of years. kinda shows that the music industry isnt really struggling at all, its simply shifting from being album-centric to more single-centric.
