Empire of the Sun album came out in 2008. Lisa Mitchell, Dappled Cities and Temper Trap had the only great aussie releases of the year. 2007 provided a good 10 awesome aussie albums and 08 wasnt far behind.

 

the fact that triple j waited until july to announce thier first J Award noms is very telling.

yeah. you should really Kingsmill's article in the jmag. he talks about how 2009 was a year of alot of really good songs (reflected in the quality of the hottest "200") but lacking in great albums.

 

also. staying on the triple j theme. they have a great Live at the Wireless on monday night. Its Animal Collective's gig at the Enmore from last December. well worth a listen
