woooo Cut Copy are back!! have they promised a new album in 2010??

i was just wondering about the wombats yesterday. they seemed to have disappeared as quickly as they appeared. feels like an eternity ago that they dropped Dance to Joy Division.

Not promised but there are rumors for late 2010 cut copy album. Wombats should have something out soon too, both of these bands had last releases in 2007...

^^

wasnt cut copy 2008? i remember they finished the album midway through 2007 but they had some issues and couldnt bring it out until a few months into 2008.

imo Cut Copy would have to be one of the biggest names on that line up. people i would say only vaguely remember the wombats especially with the countless copycat bands that have turned up and done well in the interim. missy elliot hasnt done much in yonks and kele is very much unproven. im just surprised that they feature so far down on that line up, there are some massive international festivals who have put them higher up.

Yep it was 2008, my bad.

Wombats and Kele only have one album each, so they are very very much unproven!!

theyre not bad at all. i'll be interested to hear how the song sounds after its been done in a proper studio. i quite enjoyed the songs the winners of the first Unearthed High Tom Ugly have written. i think they should have an LP out soon.

Basement Birds will release their album in physical form on July 16, it will be self-titled.

i know this is a stupid argument but you would think these incredibly talented people could come up with an album title without just going self titled. its just such a boring predictable thing to do.

I'm okay with self titled albums. As long as it's their first album though...is it The Basemet Bird's debut?

It is. I'm all for Self titled debuts. I hate things like INTERPOL are doing and self-titling their FOURTH album!!!

^thats ridiculous. I think self titled debut is the safe way to go. They dont know how long they will be together or anything like that and they want to selling copies as easily as possible.

yeah i guess from a marketing point of view it is the safest way to go. but i just find it annoying when im talking about a s/t album, you cant just say the name of album it always has to be "their self titled debut"

mind you i dont like title tracks either. so i think its just me.

Title tracks are only annoying if the song ends up being really popular... so people can't tell whether you're talking about the song or the album :P

my biggest pet hate is when i hear "check out coldplay playing viva la vida from their album viva la vida on their viva la vida world tour"

^is that made even worse for you because the word 'play' is used twice in the sentence, too? :laugh3:

... yet.

EDIT: sorry, haha. I'll try to get back on topic now...

Looking forward to seeing Angus and Julia Stone in just under 2 weeks!

^So jealous. I got that frequency magazine yesterday. Quite good posters. Huge one of temper trap for my wall.

But Kele (and I'm assuming you mean Kele Okereke) has 3 and a bit albums of Bloc Party stuff to fall back on if needed

Haha, but the Killers poster > Temper Trap poster! :P

True... he's doing a festival slot so it would prob be 45min set. He could do his new stuff exclusively then throw in a few like Talons, Banquet, and this Modern Love

got to see Powderfinger live (supported by the entertaining Bob Evans) recently...absolutely awesome gig. shame it's both my first & last time seeing them + their first & last time playing in Bristol. :(

can't believe that it was a good 10yrs ago that i first came to know about this band during my undergrad days in Melb & i'm only seeing them play live now when i'm all the way in UK doing my masters! :dozey:

the mass singalong during My Happiness in particular was brilliant - video of it at the end of the slide :D

shame they didn't play Passenger in the end, even with all the shouts for it from the (ironically, predominantly) Aussie crowd...

Shame, passenger is a real tune. Which uni in Melb did you study at?

Can't wait for their final Melb show in October!!

was in Monash Uni...good times. :)

should be a good one in Melb!!! the Bristol show was actually postponed cos of the volcanic ash...next thing we know, the news got out that this was to be the end aside from the Sunsets tour.

on the other hand, i have a pretty cool tour t-shirt with a reminder of the volcanic ash problem...

Ha I am at Monash now, doing an Honours in Management! Classic!

Yeah good that you got Bob Evans too, he really is an entertaining act. Pics of the t-shirt? Please? Yeah this sunsets tour is going to go off!!!
