May 18, 201016 yr Of course you can buy a Travelcard. When I'm in London, I use the tube so often ... it's makes for me not a difference to an Oyster Card. But you have to choose between Peak and Off-Peak. The Off-Peak is cheaper but you can use the tube, busses... only from 9:30 am at week ;) Good! :) Gosh, I think it's all coming to place now! YAY! :dance: I'm thinking, why not put a little extra money on a Travelcard for the entire visit instead of refilling the Oyster card whenever it runs out of money? I think buying a Travelcard would be the cheapest option since we probably will be using it pretty much. :rolleyes:

Like Nicole said - when you use the tube a lot a travelcard might be a bit cheaper. Me personally, I found myself walking more or using buses so choosing the pay-as-you-go option with Oyster Card usually is cheaper for me because you never pay more than a day ticket thanks to the price cap. With the Oyster Card however the rides from and to the airport are cheaper as well. Whatever suits you best. I just prefer Oyster card as you have a plastic card to touch the sensors rather than a paper ticket to fiddle through the slots...

May 18, 201016 yr All of this tube lingo is a foreign language to me. Does anybody know... what would be the best way to get from Heathrow to the hostel? By taxi/cab, or some other mode of transportation (some sort of "link" to the tube)? Also, if I were to take a taxi, is it customary to tip the driver? I know some places it is, some places it isn't, so I just want to make sure I do whatever is the customary thing in London. I believe you pay something like a £2 deposit for a 'visitors' Oyster, and if you don't use up all the credit you can take it back to the ticket office and they should refund you whatever the balance on the card plus your deposit back :) Or you can keep your card as a memory of your trip

May 27, 201016 yr ^ And I've got a little mini-tripod (about 6 inches / 15 cm tall) to put any of our cameras on it, so we don't have to bother any strangers to take our picture... we can just set it on the sidewalk across the street and start the timer on the camera. :awesome:
