Where?

When

Where was it coming from

First Thoughts???

I remember the first time i heard it was back at the orphanage when I was about 10 or 11....

my first night there

my roommate heard me crying in my sleep, came over and put on Dont Panic on her walkman

she became my best friend and we bonded over a love of coldplay

its thanks to her that i was introduced to coldplay and oasis instead of liking britney spears, insync and backstreet boys

Hmm... My earliest memory of hearing Coldplay is around the time when X&Y came out. I remember seeing the The Hardest Part film clip on television. I was eight, maybe. I probably heard their songs before then, but just didn't realise it.:)

(:

when i was 7.

I was huge watcher of music ( and still to this day )

It was either yellow or don't panic i saw first .

I thought don't panic was one of the coolest music videos ever.

( ... Of course that video didn't even seem half as cool when the scientist came out )

But i only knew it was coldplay when

In my place came out,

they were all like The Return of Coldplay!

:laugh3:

i guess i was 12 or somehting, i became more and more interested in music and stuff, like the top 40 and stuff. and coldplay was in it twice with speed of sound and talk. i really liked the music and downloaded some more. there were so many i already knew, but indeed, i never realised it was theirs. not much later a dear family member died and coldplay's music really helped me trough. thats how i became a fan :)

i remember my dad was talking about coldplay one day, before i even knew who they were :P he was talking with the son om my neighbours about AROBTTH, it was like: this album is só amazing, they have so beautiful and deep music, and the singer is insane! he always writes stuff for charity's on his hand and now he puts tape on his fingers! really insane, but he has a incredible talent for music. i never forgot that! weird..

Way back in 2002/2003 hearing lots of In My Place, The Scientist. I would have bet I would have heard Yellow but it didn't register with me, but it was Clocks that really got my attention, mainly because it was on banking adverts and BBC adverts!! After that I saw them on the Brits in 2003 playing THAT song and I was like - "hmmm, so these guys do that wonderful song!" Then it just flowed from there. I became so familiar with In My Place, The Scientist and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face which is weird because a band has never had that effect on me where songs were instantly registering with me by time that, even though I hadn't bought A Rush Of Blood To The Head - I knew almost half the songs on it! But back then I was only in primary 7 going into secondary school and I wasn't an album buyer really. It was only in 2005 when I asked for X&Y for my birthday is when I got all the albums from then on.

It's weird because I got X&Y mainly because I was totally digging Speed Of Sound and then it was like 'I can't go any longer without a Coldplay album!' I also got my brother in to them who thought 'Coldplay? Why?' when I got it for my birthday. Now one of his favourte bands!

me: "mmm:thinking:..."

Wowo...I feel old compared to all ya'll. :) I first heard them/saw them on VH1 when getting ready for school when I was 15. The video for Yellow came on and I had a notepad I kept by the TV when I heard songs I liked so I could write down the artist and song title. I hurried and scribbled it down and FLIPPED out. I was like, "HOLY CRAP. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!? I LOVE THEM!" Then, I called my brother who was in college and MADE him listen to them. I got him hooked and I always lREALLY iked them and defended them to everyone, but when I heard VLV for the first time, I fell COMPLETELY and pathetically in love with them. Sad that it took me nearly ten years to get there...kinda like a "When Harry Met Sally" of sorts...hahah

Last year in December, on the radio. The DJ's said that Viva la Vida was going to win the Song of the Year award. When I heard "Coldplay", what came to mind was the stereotypical country rock band, beer bellies, long hair, shades and all. I expected the worst...

And then, BOOM a delicious Baroque-ish sound explodes in my ears, and I hear Chris's lovely voice singing. I had mixed feelings on the song. I decided that I liked it, because my piano teacher recently got me to like classical music.

Viva la Vida played on the radio a few hundred more times after that, and my mom kept saying as it came on, "Hey, Lhuna, your favorite song is on!" And I said, "Mm, okay," even though it wasn't my favorite.

Then I grew to love Viva even more, and I grew to like Coldplay's other songs, too. That's how Coldplay and I met. We now live in a beach house in Tahiti and play local gigs together. The end. :wacky:

The first time I heard Coldplay was when I was about six or seven years old. I think. I could have been older. I was watching a commercial for a tv show and Clocks was the song. And well I remeber when I heard it I loved it. Though I was to young to pay any attention to the name or who sang it. Then last June, I was at home dancing. And VLV cam on the radio and my sister was like "Oh this is my new favorite song". Then blah blah blah and now I love them! :nice: -Gigi

I can't remember my first memory. I just remember when I was younger that my brother showed me Speed of Sound... I think. Or Talk? I remember driving downtown with him and he played some The Killers and I think Coldplay. I can't remember though.

And my other brother was a Coldplay fan. So the name was always familiar to me.

The first time I heard Coldplay was when I saw the video for Yellow. I thought Coldplay was one person and I hated the song haha. I fell in love with Coldplay when they released The Scientist back in 2002? The rest is history. For the record I love Yellow now.
