I think that 1) the Grammys didn't ask Coldpaly to perform; 2) from that, Colplay got the message that they hadn't won anything; and 3) they figured, "Why waste our time going if we didn't win anything?"

 

They are smart not to go, but it was sad that they weren't there. The Grammys should have nominated them for more. At least, last year their true genius was officially recognized with 3 awards, and they should have won more of the 7 nominations they received then. True beauty/genius is often obscured behind the plastic fake material the pushes itself out into the front. I'm happy that Coldplay's subtle sweetness behind its big rock band sound was recognized last year and that they were at least nominated this year for 2 categories.

Finally got round to watching the show - or the two hour highlights we got over here.

 

Beyonce stole the show - loved her cover of Alanis, completely unexpected and brilliant!

The Grammys is broken up into two parts. Pre-televised which starts at 1PM I believe? And televised, which is all the red carpet+big awards+performances at 8PM. They were only nominated for awards in the pre-televised section, therefore it would make no sense for them to go to the televised section.

 

After having to explain this to my mother, I are an expert on this subject because of my learnings.

Finally watched it and yuk, this year's Grammy's were poo. I did like Pink's performance, although I had already seen it when I went to see her and The Ting Tings last year with my little sister... I was kind of surprised she even did the water dipping part, lol... I wonder how many celebs were upset about getting a little water on themselves :rolleyes:

Awww, only just saw this post and Coldplay should definitely have received the award for both nominations! How could anything beat the video for LiTii especially and the song itself is incredible - shocked :o Was tres annoyed also to see that they weren't nominated for any awards at the Brits but then seeing twenty mins of the show and the generic pop noise (because it is nothing but noise!) they were churning out made me feel a little better as it made me see that they don't recognize proper music, just the stuff that is popular at the time - Coldplay, on the other hand, are for a lifetime :D and will last a whole lot longer than any of the other artists around today. Rant over :laugh3:
