The "I got socks for Christmas" thread

Featured Replies

On the contrary, Mark, socks can be a great and thoughtful gift.

If you buy regular-use socks, it shows that you know the person needs more of those type (my case for instance, I am running low).

Or if you buy decorated "holiday" socks it shows you know the person will appreciate such a gift and you know their tastes well enough to pick out something they'll like.

And if you buy them old dirty used gym socks, it shows you have a wild sense of humor and a tolerance for bad smells.

I disagree. It's a total insult and shows a distinct lack of imagination. I'd rather get nothing at all than that.;)

What about people you dont see often, and you dont know what to get them? I bought presents for about 40 people this xmas, even I dont have the time to think of something sentimental or meaningful for each person/family.

I didnt get anyone socks, for people I dont see often just chocolates (Which is about as meaningful as socks).

Socks are the most boring present imaginable. Classic example of buying a present "just for the sake of it". You might as well not bother at all.:dozey:

No they aren't! I love getting pretty fuzzy socks for Christmas, they're neat to wear around the house when it's freezing cold, and they feel so comfy!

If you don't see people often, you shouldn't be buying them Christmas presents at all. It's a pointless exercise.:dozey:

I haven't seen my dad in a couple months, does that mean I shouldn't buy him anything?

I got long, fuzzy, polka-dot socks this year

Actually, usually when people buy me socks it's a sign that they do know me and get my tastes. I probably have around 100 pairs and still love getting more.

Now black socks, that wouldn't go over so well if they didn't have stars on them.

I got Santa socks :awesome: ohh and also penguin socks :wacky:

Why is it pointless?

I dont know where to start with this, I try to make the effort to see as many people as I can, but my extended family is spread out, as I get older my friends are moving all over the place, just because I dont always get the chance to see people like every week, it doesnt mean they're not important to me- we just have lives to take care of.

One of the few things I like about Christmas is that its an opportunity to remind people you still think about them, with a card and a gift.

I actually didn't get any socks this Christmas. Although, I buy and wear Christmas socks all year. :P

No one listen to Mark. As always, he is wrong about everything.

His attitude doesnt make sense. Would rather not have presents then have bad ones? At least they went to the effort of getting socks, thats something.

I doubt I'll get much of a response but I am bored.

I got purple fuzzy socks for christmas.

And boots that are half a size too small. :disappointed:

Apparently the concept of "it's the thought that counts" means nothing to Mark. It's all about receiving material things to him.

Possibly. It makes no sense, for example if my brother got me nothing this Christmas, it'd be like :wtf: If he got me socks, it would definately be better than nothing, I wouldnt be happy but at least I could pretend and be like "Ooo, yeah socks... Great!.. Im uh, running low." Its better because hes at least gone to a tiny bit of effort of buying socks, and wrapping them.

But Mark would prefer that they do nothing, at all, for some reason. Logic?

I got black socks, normal socks

Who from?:dozey:

Can't say I'm surprised. It's usually that or the "knitted jumper"!:P
