Favourite Coldplay line/quote

i think this was a post before, but it hasnt been updated since 2008, so heres a new thread!

 

i'd have to say mine are (from the top of my head):

"you but me down to size and opened up my eyes. made me realize, what i could not see." - Swallowed By The Sea. first song i heard from Coldplay and it means the world to me.

 

"there's a tiny little crackle on the telephone line, saying whats the use of metal if the metal don't shine. she said "bring me back a ring, cause i really want one" and ive been diggin' so long that i never see the sun." - The Goldrush. because the beat makes me a happy kid:)

 

and my all time favourite quote from Coldplay :

"don't you wish that life could be as simple, as fish swimming round in a barrel when you've got the gun" - Prospekts March/Poppyfeilds. makes me tear up every time i hear it.

"Those who are dead are not dead/they're just living in my head" from 42. Not only the closest thing to Lennon-on-LSD that Chris has ever written, but very poignant.

 

"You....are......" from Clocks. The greatest unfinished sentence of all time in the arguably-best song of the decade.

 

"Lights will guide you home/and ignite your bones/and I will try to fix you" from Fix You. The first time I heard this song was in the movie "Young@Heart", a documentary about a senior-citizen rock band. This song has helped me through many hard times.

I think the list is too long. Coldplay lyrics are awesome. Not forgetting "If you never try, you'll never know."

Great thread! :nice: Ohh, so so many to choose from. I love most Coldplay lyrics, in fact, pretty much all of them. Chris writes so many lines that really speak volumes to me.

 

This verse is a fave that hasn't been posted yet:

So beautiful, the description of being "covered" in someone. I just love how CM can describe love and the pain/joy/sorrow/effects of it in so many different ways, haha.

I'd have this line tattooed on me somewhere... if I was brave/mad enough to have one, hehe. I often find myself thinking it because it's kind of like a motto. :heart:

The last line, is so clever, and so evocative of the picture the song paints. It's really pretty. I'll come back with more later. :P
