I'm a 21 year old guy from England.

haha Ooops, way off, sorry :embarrassed: I was right about it being a young mix tho, I must be too old for some of that type of music.

I'm gonna find out about Delakota tho, sounds interesting, I'd like to hear more. And I'm sure I have a Furries album knocking around somewhere that I've barely listened to, perhaps I should dig it out :D

Thanks :)

Okay, here is my review:

Track 1: It's "I'm Your Man" live by Michael Buble! I love him. I didn't have this track, so it was nice to hear. I love the intro at the beginning.

Technicolor: you got a noob! Me :D

1) Michael Buble-I'm Your Man (Madison Square Garden album): Absolutely love this version. IYM is a top 5 favorite song of mine that nobody understands why I love so much. Felt it would be a good build to the CD and had to share it with someone since I listen to it so much.

2) Linkin Park-Pushing Me Away (live piano version): Pretty cool song and most haven't heard it since it was distributed through their LP Underground. Shows a whole side to LP and as well as their live talent, which I've personally witnessed.

Sorry the album art stayed with the file :-/

3) Ryuichi Sakamoto-Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence: UNBELIEVABLE instrumental, mostly piano. Heard it by chance a few weeks back on Pandora and have been listening to Sakamoto-san and all of his various work since. This is the title track to a WW2 movie he made with David Bowie! Check out Sakamoto-san's album "1996" if you want to be blown away. "Playing the Piano" is a recent album of his and features stripped piano-only versions of his biggest hits. I have a personal love and desire to see Japan and have for quite some time, so it's not a huge surprise I love this song. Japanese piano pieces are quite special.

4. Rodrigo y Gabriela-Diablo Rojo: This song doesn't have any drums :) it's ALL guitar. If you watch the video, you'll see them pounding on the guitars for percussion. Really amazing guitar playing here, and they also do a lot of covers of Metallica songs which are worth checking out.

5. Riverboat Gamblers-Sleepless: Pretty awesome song from a rather unknown band. Heard one of their songs on satellite radio, bought the CD, and was surprised that this song wasn't the one they released first since it shines.

6. Matt Nathanson-Come On Get Higher: If you haven't heard of Matt Nathanson, GO LISTEN NOW! Same kinda genre as Vega6, Snow Patrol, Augstana, etc. Really impressive and underhyped.

7. Jimmy Eat World-23: Song that used to mean a lot more to me than it does now, but still hard to ignore. Pretty powerful and you can really feel something from it. I'd rather not go back to the days it reminds me of, but I still never skip it when it comes on. Jimmy Eat World is a phenomenal band and the album Futures is a must own.

8. Tiesto Ft. Matt Hales From Aqualung - UR (Junkie XL Remix): It'd be hard to ignore how big of a trance music fan I am. I don't like the techno with senseless pounding beats; I prefer melody, composition, and great vocals. This song was my gateway drug to trance and is worth a listen. If you like this and the other electronic track on this album, shoot me a PM and I can steer you down the same path I went on :)

9. Coba-Sugisarishi Eien no Hibi: Another song by a Japanese artist (who's done music for quite a few popular video games, actually) but more importantly it's a Foxtrot for ballroom dance. A fire for that was lit this year as I started college, I put in at least 15 hours a week of tough work to get as good as I can. If you want to see the grace I'm aspiring to: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gQEik74U7k]YouTube- Luca Foxtrot Performance[/ame] I'll never be as good as Luca, but listening to this song and watching that makes me want to work that much harder!

10. Jamie Cullum-Don't Stop the Music: pretty cool rendition by another amazing solo performer. Check out his song "Mind Trick" and cover of Buckley's "Lover, You Should Have Come Over," both of which I almost put on this CD.

11. Ennui-Tonight: a song from the band a former guitar teacher of mine was in. Figured it was safe to say that NOBODY here has heard this song and I thought it was pretty cool.

12. Augustana-Boston: If you had heard this song and recognized it, I was worried that you would have heard of Nathanson too. Some people completely missed this song and it's definitely one worth hearing. Probably my favorite track from them, but they have some other good ones.

13. Snow Patrol-Just Say Yes: As a colossal Snow Patrol fan, I figured I would try to include something that most fans haven't heard. Looks like I couldn't sneak one past you, but glad it made you happy. Must listen if you like SP or even if you don't! Snow Patrol is my favorite either alongside or behind Coldplay too! and my friends think I'm nuts how much I like CP.

14. U2-Beautiful Day (Mat Zo Remix): Mat Zo is a very young trance producer with a ton of potential. Thought this would be a good uplifting song to end the CD on.

Glad you liked it! I had no idea if it was going to be a hit or a miss, and it looks like it was a bit of both

I meant to include a song by Vega4 titled Life Is Beautiful, but I didn't see that I left myself a note to do that. Vega4 should have been huge, but the marketing department completely dropped the ball. Consider that the bonus track to the CD please! You can hear the stream for free at their MySpace page

I'll be posting the review of the album I got fairly soon so hang on please whoever made my mixtape!

i'm swamped w/ hw right now... i'm hoping to get to the mix by tonight, but then again Lost is on. I'll give it a listen and review after Lost... if not then definitely tomorrow

Keep on listening to my tape!!! So awesome!!

Can't wait to know who is this mysterious genius!!!

Come on partner, show yourself (and the tracklist btw XD) PLEAAAAAASEEEE :D

My review is page 45!

After panic hours and being a burden for The Escapist, I churned a review out. So, let's cut to the chase:

1. What a quirky song. A great way to start a mixtape. I like the whole ensemble. All the instruments mashed up almost randomly. Gets me excited!

2. Ooh, slow. But the vocal a bit disappointing. It grew in me though. Actually this is a very nice song. Although it's somehow a bit strange to have such a ballad for second track. A very, very moody song. It has this certain atmosphere around it.

3. Exactly the song I would expect in such mixtape exchange. The intro caught me a little. But the highlight is that gauzy guitar riff at the chorus. I like it.

4. Is this song supposed to cheer you up? If it is then it doesn't work on me. This song a little bit boring. Maybe only because it's a follow up to track 3 which I really like. They don't sound special. It's like Bittersweet Symphony gone wrong (don't know why I compare it to that song, but that's how I feel)

5. Wild! A perfect remedy. It's so… wild!! How did the drummer survive the song??? WILD!!!

6. Good intro. I got a bit disappointed when the vocal arrived. But the chorus promises something good. Oh wait! It changed! Oo… very interesting..... Oooo........... Aaahhh.....

7. A bit bland. There's been a handful of such song in this mixtape already. Maybe it's actually interesting, but it didn't get into me.

8. Is this Beirut? I've never really listen to them but their music matches people's description of Beirut. Really, really nice. One of my favourite.

9. Unexceptional.

10. This song got a bad initial response from me. The musician chose a generic chord sequence for the intro. Well, that generic chord sequence goes all through the song. It's quite much a pop song, seeps into me very easily. I normally like female vocalists. Maybe that's why I can get this song easily. Maybe it takes time to soak through my head.

11. I love this. The kind of song that reminds me of my past. It has those nice little details too. A bit long for the song itself, but I don't mind. My mind wanders.

12. He sang as if he was going to vomit.

13. Second remedy of the day. Love it. Although I don't really agree with their way to finish the song, you know, with all those drums and guitars. Learn from Johnny Cash, boy!

14. Regina Spektor!

15. Long, and I like it better when he don't sing.

16. Final track. At first I thought that the song isn't suitable because it could be more… grand! But after a while I can see that this is a good choice indeed. a good ol' achy-breaky song. A nice wrap up.

Good job MrNick!

Thank you! I tried to have a wide variety of music.

Oh, you already posted. I wanted to do a slight revision on number 7. Because it is not bland. It's actually exciting. High detail here and there, mixed fashionably. I didn't quite catch this at first because I was playing it through loudspeakers. Once listened to it through earphone, the magic revealed.

I personally love track number 6, Bombay Bicycle Club. Gonna search for them.

Thanks, and sorry for the trouble :)

One question though: Is the first Song called "chocolate" or "Final straw:? :surprised: I'm a little bit confused LOL.

Anyway, your mixtape is GREAT and made my whole day

It's called Chocolate, it's from the album Final Straw.

I'm glad you enjoyed the mix! :D

I love you for putting hard times on there, funny because when I put it on a personal mix before it was also the second to last track, he is very talented

Totally agree ! Cheers to Fixed for putting Hard Times on here ^^

To my mixtape creator: I'm just about to listen to the tape again. I've already written parts of the review, but I just want to go over it again by listening to the tape a third time. :)

Here's the review for my mixtape. I listened to it twice, and wrote about each song the second time I listened to it.

Also, about five of the tracks still had album artwork on it, and I deleted them quickly. I tried not to look at them, but I did recognize a couple of them.

Track 1 - Starts out with people talking in the background (it sounds like a tv show) and a synthy sound... then a piano starts playing. The singer has a deep voice, sounds a bit like Placebo. It seems to be a pretty dark song. But I like it. It seemed to end too soon before it got anywhere, though.

Track 2 - I don't really like the singer's voice. The song starts out pretty quiet with just a piano, and then suddenly becomes much louder... It's really not a bad song, the singer's voice will probably take some getting used to.

Track 3 - This song is a bit slower. It has strings in the background and an acoustic guitar. I like the guy's voice, though it sounds like he has an accent. The song picks up more after about a minute. Maybe a little boring, but I like it.

Track 4 - This is Snow Patrol, I think. I'm not really a big fan of them, but this song isn't bad. The chorus is pretty.

Track 5 - Another slower song that starts out with a piano. I like the vocal harmonizing. It's a nice song.

Track 6 - This one's more of an up-tempo song. I don't really like how the singer's voice is nearly shouting in the chorus. It's kind of a plain song, doesn't really stick out to me. I like the build up at the end though.

Track 7 - Ah, this is a great song. Into the Fire by Thirteen Senses. It was one of my favorite songs a year ago.

Track 8 - Sounds synthy at the beginning. I think this is a Keane song. It has a short french spoken part in the middle. It's a pretty good song, not amazing, but it's good. I like the latter-half of it best.

Track 9 - I like this one. I love the choir singing in the background during the chorus. It's a very uplifting song.

Track 10 - I hear someone talking in the background at the beginning, on a radio or something, and there's a piano. The singer's voice sounds familiar. There are violins playing in the background. I'm a sucker for any song that has strings in it. Great song, I like it.

Track 11 - I like this song a lot! The singer's voice is a bit shout-y, and it's a little repetitive. But the instrumentation is really good.

Track 12 - I know this one: On a Day Like This by Elbow. It's a very happy sounding song with lots of strings. I think it's one of the best songs on The Seldom Seen Kid.

Track 13 - This one is a female singer. I'm not a huge fan of female singers. This song is really catchy though, I like it.

Track 14 - I don't really like this singer's voice. It's hard to understand what he's saying. Overall, this song is a bit boring, not very remarkable.

Track 15 - Another female singer. Her voice sounds a bit country, which I don't really care for. It gets better as it goes along though. I like the violins and the horn (or whatever it is) in the background.

Track 16 - Sounds like Snow Patrol again. It's a little on the boring side. I'm just not a fan of Snow Patrol. It also has the words "I'm doing cartwheels" repeated through the song.

Track 17 - I like this song, but I think I'd get tired of it quickly. The singer's voice sounds similar to the singer of Snow Patrol.

I'm sorry I really suck at describing the songs, but I tried my best. :P

I think one thing this mixtape needed was more variety. The songs all seem pretty similar for the most part. But I did find a lot that I really like. :nice: I can't wait to find out who made my mixtape and what the track titles are!

Thanks to my mixtape maker and to Bryce for the hard work. :D

That's mine! ;)

I'm sorry about the album artworks, I thought I'd deleted everything, but I suppose I was fooled. I hope you weren't spoilt too much. :\

I do also get your point about the lack of variety... I just thought these songs fitted kind of nicely together, but you're right, I guess I was way too much into piano-driven songs at the time when I created the mixtape. So, sorry about that. But I'm still glad you grew fond of at least some songs. :)

Here's the tracklist:

01. Pete Yorn - Lose You

02. Morning Runner - Burning Benches

03. John Garrison - Abdicate

04. Snow Patrol - Warmer Climate

05. Martin & James - Broken Sword

06. Air Traffic - Shooting Star

07. Thirteen Senses - Into the Fire

08. Keane - Black Burning Heart

09. Embrace - Nature's Law

10. Jason Mraz - Plane

11. Biffy Clyro - Many of Horror

12. Elbow - One day like this

13. Nerina Pallot - Real Late Starter

14. David Gray - Stella the Artist

15. Lisa Hannigan - I don't know

16. The Reindeer Section - Cartwheels

17. Athlete - This is what I sound like

Track 1: I like this, the start is kind of sudden but it's really soothing. It really reminds me of other stuff that I've heard but I can't really put it in place. As the song progresses though it gets a bit much of the bleeps in the chorus/verse. But in general it's a good track to start off with.

Track 2: The song starts up with weeping strings and a regular drum beat. I can't really say if it is a male or a female voice but I really like this song. The strings comes in again as the chorus starts and I really like the sound of it. Now I'm starting to think it's two voices, it makes cringe a little bit. I like the acoustic bass that goes through the song. The song finish off with a double tracked only vocal. And it's sounds really good.

Track 3: The track starts off with a acoustic guitar and vocal comes in I can't tell if it's a male or a female singer again. The chorus comes in pretty early but it's fantastic. Too bad the chorus kind of ends in a disappointing way. The chorus goes 'Set the dark on Fire' which I guess is the title of the song. The verse goes into the chorus pretty quickly which makes it hard to reach to a climax of the song. The song ends with the same acoustic guitar as it starts with.

Track 4: This track starts with a fast piano riff and later a guitar comes in. Unfortunately, when the vocals comes in I immediately lose interest. There just is something with these kind of voices that makes me uncomfortable.

Track 5: This song is also kind of obsolete if you compare to the first 3 tracks, but it's definitely has something that makes me want to keep listening to it. I like the guitar which has a rougher noise. It kind of reminds me of Red Hot Chilipeppers which aren't really my type of band but it still is an ok track.

Track 6: The track starts with begins with a very reverbed guitar, this song also goes into chorus pretty quickly and goes 'You color my black and white days' which is kind cheesy. Otherwise the song doesn't really have something noticeable in the song except for the reverbed guitar. Almost the whole song was the chorus and that was one of the things that made it kind of boring.

Track 7: I heard immediately that it was Empire of The Sun, and I actually like this song. The song has a lot of space and the electronic noises fits his voice good. I tried the album though and didn't like it too much.

Track 8: The song begins with a nice beat and as soon as the vocal I Immediately hear that it is Florence and The Machine. And I like it. I really like it. Her voice haven't really appealed me in the songs that I've heard but this one actually fits her perfectly. I really like things that happens in the end, and before the last chorus begins the nice beat that was playing in the beginning. The song ended kind of abrupt but I really liked for all the stuff happening in it.

Track 9: The song begins with squiggly noises and then goes into a regular guitar and drum + keyboard sound. The song is very optimistic but it feels like it has an ironic happiness into it. I just imagine a guy jumping around singing with a fake smile on his face. But it's pretty good musically and the organ that goes through the verse I like. In the end he makes weird noises and it with him saying 'BA' very abruptly. This song was good musically but lyrically it disappointed a little.

Track 10: The song starts off with an 'under water' effect but it soon goes into a real beat. The song is pretty dreamy and very spacey. But it still has something that sounds like African beats. The chorus goes something like 'Today's the day tonight's the night'. The male voice sounds a little British and I really enjoy it. I like the times he goes into falsetto and it really bring things to the song.

Track 11: This song starts off with a very heavy guitar. As fast i hear the voice I get that feeling again, it makes me uncomfortable. Unfortunately this isn't really my glass of juice.

Track 12: It starts really up tempo, and as the vocals comes in I kind of like it. The song goes through in a pretty good way. Too much things isn't happening but it's pretty good in general. I like the guitar riff that comes in before the second verse. It reminded me of Arctic Monkeys but also a lot of other things. Anywho, I enjoyed it fairly well!

Track 13: I'm really sorry it must be the same band or something, but I'm really having a hard time judging this song fair. It just doesn't appeal to me. The only thing that makes me kind of interested is his Scottish accent, but it kind of makes me laugh too :lipsrsealed2:

Track 14: This is David Grohl singing was my first thougt, this song as pretty neutral. But since I haven't really liked Foo Fighters it is pretty good.

Summary: The mixtape started off really good but kind of lost all of it's charm somewhere in the middle. But it was really nice listening to unexplored genres :nice:

Hope I wasn't too honest :surprised:

Thanks! The album art didn't really spoil much because the tracks weren't in order at first, so I didn't know what album art belonged to which track while I was deleting them.

Don't worry, they do fit together nicely. I did like that. :nice:

Thanks again for the mixtape, there are a bunch of bands/artists on there that I've never listened to before that I really want to check out now. :nice:

Sounds awesome! I'll give it a try :)

Aw, thanks! Hope you'll like it. :nice:

Thank you so much Bryce for answering me so fast! I know you're very busy so thank you very much again, a part of the mystery is now solved :D

I admit it was bothering me XD

So thank you tauiwi for this great mixtape, can't wait for the tracklist and your feedback about my review :)

Aww thanks, I'm really glad to hear that! :)

It's also nice to hear you didn't know most the artists/bands and got interested in at least some of them because I guess that's just what a mixtape is there for. :nice: I do believe the one by Biffy Clyro was your favourite, wasn't it? :) If you go and check them out, have a listen to their latest record as there are quite some gems on it (I prefer it to its predecessor anyway). :)

Aw, thanks! Hope you'll like it. :nice:

I'll let you know if you want:)

The tape heartswarm received sounds great as well!
