The pleasure was mine. :nice: No go brush up on your Johnny Cash. :whip:
if anyone would like to listen to/review another tape, here's mine...

http://www.mediafire.com/?3azwtjcrgyn

Haven't heard anything from my partner yet. :(

Review time!

Ooh, 21 tracks. Nice!

Track 1: This song starts with a really lovely guitar/cello melody. The singer kind of resembles Zach Condon. It's a nice laid back catchy song. I love the guitars that come in the latter half of the song.

Track 2: Another really upbeat happy folkish song. I really like the synths, they add a nice touch to the song. I think I know who this is. It's definitely Glen Hansard and.. *grabs cd* probably from the Once OST? I liked that movie. :nice:

Track 3: I'm liking this tape so far. This is also a sort of folkish/bluegrass song. The vocals are awesome on this. Especially the latter part is great.

Track 4: The guitar sounds kind of familiar. *30 seconds later* CROWDED HOOOOOOUSE! Everywhere you gohohoho, always take the weather with you *sings along* This song is so catchy it's gonna be stuck in my head for days :D

Track 5: This is another song with my friend Glen. It's sort of quiet with some badass (albeit quiet) electric guitars in the background. The chorus is beautiful. As we've just had the Once thingie, I think this might be from Glen's other band, The Frames but I wouldn't know because I haven't listened to them.. yet. Ah, the musical part is just :awesome:

Track 6: This is an upbeat poppy song by a female singer. It's decent, although the background choir is a bit annoying.

Track 7: Another female vocalist. This song is more electronic and has some awesome drums. I like it although the chorus is a bit too much.

Track 8: Oh, I know this! It's from Death Cab's latest album. A bit repetitive but the middle part is super amazing (you disappear at the same speed..). Lyrically, the beginning and end are a bit boring, but musically it's awesome. Love the guitars here.

Track 9: This guy has a weird voice. This is another electronic track with a really nice beat. The guitar part in the middle is a nice touch but I still don't like the guy's voice.

Track 10: Something in this song sounds familiar. Perhaps the structure or the lyrics. Admittedly, the phrase "I thought I knew you" probably occurs in loads of songs. Anyway, it's a cool pop/rock song.

Track 11: This song starts with some awesome drums. The song is pretty laid back and the vocalist has a nice voice. I like it.

Track 12: I'm loving the guitar melody here! This is a really relaxing song with some sweet lyrics.

Track 13: This song is a bit more rocky, which creates a nice contrast with the previous song. It's an okay song, not really special, but definitely not bad either. The vocals are pretty good.

Track 14: I already guessed from the posts in the thread that this track would be Jeff Buckley and I was right. This is Last Goodbye. Amazing song and a good choice for the tape.

Track 15: Tegan and Sara! Probably a song from their latest record as I don't recognize it. *browses iTunes* I bet it's Hell. :D

Track 16: I'm positive that this is U2, but I don't recognize the tune. I never really liked U2 or listened to their music. Mainly because I can't stand Bono (pink glasses, seriously?), which is a stoopid reason for not listening to a band, I know. I sort of like this song. I'm guessing it's an older one.

Track 17: I don't recognize this song, but could this be Neko Case? I've been listening to The New Pornographers a lot lately. This is a solid song, the first song by a female vocalist on this tape that I really like. The "hold on hold on hold on hold on" part is amazing.

Track 18: R.E.M.! But which song? *thinkthinkthink* Ah, it's Half A World Away from Out Of Time. Loveitloveitloveit, both the song and the album.

Track 19: This is an awesome song. It's got a big bandish feel with the trumpets and the (slightly over the top) background choir. This guy has an amazing voice. Slightly hoarse (I guess) but a nice tone.

Track 20: Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere you are standing right in front of meheeeee. The video for this song is just beyond cute.

Track 21: This is an appropriate last song ("here is where the story ends"), but I'm a bit indifferent to the singer.

I really liked this tape, you have a good taste in music. My favourites were 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 14, and 18 though I can honestly say I liked all songs even though I'm not big on female vocalist (I get bored rather easily by them). Excited to find out the artists. :D

Later will be fine, Jen. Thanks. :nice:

Also, I'm making a note to listen to some others, like yellowtaking and The Final Track. I'll have to get those tomorrow, when I have a proper connection.

^ I'm trying to download yours now. It's taking a really long time to process the download request. :\

EDIT: NVM, it's fixed.

yay, I hope you like mine :)

:awesome:

Rudy would do, there's no need to type my whole username :wacky:

Allright then, Rudy it is ;)

I have been listening to my mixtape in the car, its the only chance I've had to do it since having a small baby in the house has virtually destroyed my hopes of playing music loud on the stereo! :(

I came to the conclusion that my mixer has VERY different tastes in music to me, I only recognised a handful of tracks. Most of the tape that I mixed was from early 2000s and some very much earlier, but this mixtape appears to be full of fresh songs, many of which I don't recognise at all. I had trouble with getting a few to work, so I've had to leave those behind.

1) I've heard this one played on the radio but no idea who it is. Quite a good opener to the mix from the piano tinkles.

2) Phoenix, can't remember the name of the song though. Mixtape, so far so good!

3) Its clear that this mix will feature many anthemic songs, here's another over 5 minutes long. Its ok, but not my favourite on the mix.

4) Another one I've heard, fuck knows who it is. Very grizzly!

5) Jack Johnson, Taylor, I'm sure I've seen him play this at Glastonbury - happy this one is in here! :)

6) I can't put my finger on this at all, but I like it! Reminded me of Enya when it came on...... but somehow I don't think this mixer will have much Enya in the CD collection!!

7) The Kooks, she moves in her own way. Nice! :)

8) Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart acoustic

After a male vocal dominated mixtape this song is almost like the pinnacle female voice of the album, much softer than the single version. Favourite track of the mixtape. I very much like this track as I have done since it was released. One of my most played on Spotify.

9) Horchata by Vampire Weekend: I'm not that big a fan but this song is different enough than most on this mix so its a stand out track for me :)

10) Don't know who this gentleman is I'm afraid, not my type of music so if I don't get to find out I'll not lose any sleep!

11) Couldn't play this for some reason, either my computer or the fact I don't have iTunes installed?? :/

12) Wouldn't download for me I'm afraid :(

13) Another song I've heard but I have no clue as to who it is or what its called. note to self: must pay more attention to the artist when the song finishes on the DAB! Overall an OK song, not overly enamoured by it though.

14) Lake Michigan by Rogue Wave, I recognise this from the radio only. Never heard any other stuff by them. A stand out track on the mix for me.

15) Couldn't get this to play, was it from iTunes? (Which I haven't got)

16) One Republic - Good Life. I know this song!! :P

17) I might like this the more I play it. Like the beat of the song, and it is indeed good for driving to!

18) 3rd one I couldn't get to play.. :(

19) Big fan of acoustic versions of songs, but not this. Reminded me of Boyzone!

20) Somewhere over the rainbow Reggae style??? Me likes! :pimp2:

I hope my somewhat short review is ok! :/

@Clem, I'm going to download yours as well... thanks for doing mine! :nice:

it was a pleasure, really liked it! Now I want the tracklist hehe :D

Bossman likes Florence

I don't mind doing another one. Not sure whether I have time tomorrow, but I could probably post a review this weekend.

would be appreciated :)

Note to self: Make room on mp3 player for more mixtapes.

Also, Boreas, I have listened to your tape. A review will be up soon. :nice:

woohoo!!!

I almost put this one in mine!

Ahaha Belgium Beligum... Zita Swoon, K's Choice...

Heee you know Arno? And Zita Swoon and K's Choice? :cheesy:

Then you must be from Belgium too

6. Small Leaks Sink Ships - Sackcloth In Ashes (Until the World is Happy; Wake Up You Sleepyhead Sun, 2007)

Ah, I really like this band! Like I know you were talking about the vocals being crap, but I honestly kind of find them both interested. Like how they work off of each other and I don't know; but yeah, most of the time the instruments are my favorite part of this band. I was also thinking about using Shake in my mix, but decided against it last minute. I might have used this band in my last mix, though. I don't remember.

I'm going to download your mix, cause I haven't heard of a lot of the bands on there so this will be interesting.

My mother loves Arno so Dans les yeux de ma mère kinda means a lot to me ;) Did you put the live or the album version ?

Everybody knows K's Choice :D (I'm seeing them in April, wuhu!)

Last but not least, Zita Swoon opened for a Anaïs - French artist - gig few years ago in Paris... which means I'm French héhé :P

I'll probably give a try to your mixtape, I also heard about dEUS (I think they're going to attend/attended the Werchter fest or something like that) and Red Zebra kinda rings a bell too...

I still listen to this song almost three years after discovering it. Definitely agree that it's an interesting song! Glad someone else knows this band too, because people laugh at me when I mention their name. :sweatdrop:

Bossman likes Florence

Hey you, the second video of Florence you sent me was even more amazing, I'm so seeing her live in Paris in June. Although I tried to listen to the album and... dunno... it doesn't sound that interesting you know... Anyway her live performances seem BRILLIANT so... I'll see...

Aha, Français :) Le pays du vin et fromage

I choose the live version of Arno, it has even more feeling in it. It's a beautiful song, I can imagine it means a lot to you! I love how it is so 'human', like how he says his mother is the only one who knows how his 'pieds pu' etc.... Beautiful!

Are you going to Rock Werchter? If dEUS plays there, I'll be going as well, they are really awesome, you should check them out. Would you like me to upload some of their songs? They're really awesome! You can listen to some songs here: http://www.myspace.com/deusbe

Another one you maybe know and that is really really good: Novastar, you can listen to some songs on http://www.myspace.com/novastaremi

Mixtape Review: Boreas

As school was cancelled today due to snow, I have plenty of time to get started on more listening and posting of reviews. The only downside to this is that I can't download more until Monday, since I don't have the proper Internet connection here at home. :\ So to get started, I have a review for Boreas' tape right here. :)

1. This one is very synthy and ethereal. The female voice here is very pretty. I don't believe this is English that they're singing in. There's not much in content, but there doesn't have to be. This is a simple and nice was to open the tape.

2. I like the string opening. The drum entrance adds more to it. When the guitar came in, I got this sort of "country" feeling, even though it's not overly country like I know a lot of country to be. I don't like the singer's voice too much; some of the note changes are too abrupt, and he sounds a bit nasal-y to me. However, the background music is nice, and the chorus is quite catchy. I found myself trying to sing along at the end.

3. When I first heard this, I thought of KT Tunstall. The more I listened, though, I figured out that it's not her, even though it sounds a lot like her. At any rate, I rather like KT Tunstall, so the comparison to her has to be some sort of sign. This is a nice acoustic number.

4. I was SOOO happy to hear this. It's Plavalaguna's performance from The Fifth Element, which is definitely one of my favorite movies ever. This part of the movie, where this alien opera singer sings, is one of my favorite parts of the movie. She starts off with the aria "Il dolce suono," which is from Act 3 of Gaetono Donizetti's opera, "Lucia di Lammermoor." She then goes into this techno dance number which is extremely awesome. The contrast within the two parts is fantastic, and the cadenza at the end of the aria brings the two parts together fluidly. I'm pretty sure this was my favorite part of the mixtape.

5. This track is a happy-go-lucky number. It's a foreign track...maybe an Asian language of some sort? I want to say Japanese, but I'm not exactly sure. The singer's voice is nice, even though I don't understand what he's saying. Not that I have to understand; I listen to Sigur Rós, and I still have no idea what Jónsi sings in anything. :P This song is catchy; I like it. :)

6. I detect a use of drum machine here. This contrasts the previous track, as it's much softer, and it's more synthy than acoustic. "I can no longer run, I can no longer hide." The song itself is somewhat calming. I like the female voice which sings here in the song. Now that I think about it, this song reminds me of an '80s soft rock ballad. There's a lovely cello bit in the background here. "Satisfied!" Those parts were loud and sudden, but they were also harmonois. The lyrical content is nice, and it has a lovely ending; there's an abundance of strings, and it crescendos up to the last few seconds.

7. This one sounds a LOT like the first track. I'm highly convinced it's the same artist from the first track. It's definitely not the same song, although it does have similarities. Maybe it's an extension of the first track...? I can't say for sure. At least it's stuff I like. :) I want to say that Boreas likes a lot of stuff like this, although I'm not positive.

8. There's piano, bells, and maybe some pizzicato strings at the beginning. Despite the singer's words seeming very blurred to me, the voice in itself is pretty nice and matches the music rather well. Oh wait, there we go. Now I understand him. This is much better. The voice is slightly gravelly, but it's only a little bit, so I don't mind. This song has an indie feel to it. The percussion and bass within the song add to the mood, which is nice.

9. This one's got a groovy beat, a slower one. I get a pop/R & B feel here. Is it just me, or are there two different languages here. The chorus is English, but I think the verses are in something else. I want to say Spanish; I heard words like "cambiar" within the verses. The voice is nice, too; I think it's male, but I'm not 100% sure. I like the instrumental bit after the second chorus; it's got some nice things in there.

10. There's a male choir at the beginning, which sings beautifully. It reminded me of a Gregorian chant, even though it's not one. The entrance of the percussion and other music [technolike] surprised me, but in a good way. The combination sounds niiice. The female voice now enters here. It's a nice female voice, but I was kinda hoping the male choir would sing some more. :laugh4: The singer actually reminds me a lot of the singer from Track 6 of this tape; is it the same one? If it isn't, fine. If it is, at least the styles of the songs are slightly different, and I think I like this one better.

11. I like the quite beginning. The guitar entrance is interesting. Then the full band seems to be in. This number reminds me quite a bit of a slower number of Kaiser Chiefs, particularly when the singer enters. I'm not saying that the singer sounds like Ricky Wilson, because he doesn't. However, the style he sings with and the stlye of the music make it somewhat seem that way. I like the singer's voice here. OOOOOH, keyboard! See, another comparison to Kaiser Chiefs; I automatically thought of Peanut there. :laugh4: I could definitely listen to more of this. The ending is a bit weird, though; I think it's because it ends on a VII chord.

12. The 12th track didn't work, for some reason. Sorry. :\

13. OK, this is definitely the same artists as Track 1. The songs aren't the same, but they sound almost identical. I'm thinking I got a three-part thing throughout this tape. At least it's consistent in the sense of ending with what you started.

Overall, I liked this album. As I said, Track 4 made my day. That track alone makes the mix awesome. :) Other than that, I didn't recognize anything, which is a good thing, since I like figuring out new things.

Hey you, the second video of Florence you sent me was even more amazing, I'm so seeing her live in Paris in June. Although I tried to listen to the album and... dunno... it doesn't sound that interesting you know... Anyway her live performances seem BRILLIANT so... I'll see...

:smug:

Glad you like her...!! Maybe you'll become addict to her music after seeing her live? :D

Thanks again, fietssleutel, for reviewing my tape... the tracklist/artist info is spoilered below in your original review...

Review time!

Ooh, 21 tracks. Nice!

Track 1: This song starts with a really lovely guitar/cello melody. The singer kind of resembles Zach Condon. It's a nice laid back catchy song. I love the guitars that come in the latter half of the song.

Plasticities- Andrew Bird (from Armchair Apocrypha). I love this song, and Andrew's whistling :D

Track 2: Another really upbeat happy folkish song. I really like the synths, they add a nice touch to the song. I think I know who this is. It's definitely Glen Hansard and.. *grabs cd* probably from the Once OST? I liked that movie. :nice:

Very good! It is indeed Glen, and it is from the Once soundtrack. This one is "Fallen from the Sky."

Track 3: I'm liking this tape so far. This is also a sort of folkish/bluegrass song. The vocals are awesome on this. Especially the latter part is great.

This one is from a group I've only recently started listening to, but I'm really liking them. It's called "Die, Die, Die" and it's by the excellent Avett Brothers. Check them out! This is off the album Emotionalism.

Track 4: The guitar sounds kind of familiar. *30 seconds later* CROWDED HOOOOOOUSE! Everywhere you gohohoho, always take the weather with you *sings along* This song is so catchy it's gonna be stuck in my head for days :D

:D Crowded House, "Weather With You" from the album Woodface. I really love this entire album.

Glen again, and you're right, this time, it's The Frames. This one is People Get Ready, from the album, The Cost. If you like Glen, definitely check out The Frames... you'll love them. :wacky:

Track 6: This is an upbeat poppy song by a female singer. It's decent, although the background choir is a bit annoying.

This one is "I Feel it All" by Feist, from the album, The Reminder. I'm pretty new to Feist, but I really like this album. It's funny you mention the background vocals... I had never even really noticed them. ;)

Track 7: Another female vocalist. This song is more electronic and has some awesome drums. I like it although the chorus is a bit too much.

This is "Man" from the synth/pop group, The Bird and the Bee. It's from their EP, Please Clap Your Hands. I love Inara George's voice, and they always have great melodies and beats. I also really love her kind of detached delivery.

Track 8: Oh, I know this! It's from Death Cab's latest album. A bit repetitive but the middle part is super amazing (you disappear at the same speed..). Lyrically, the beginning and end are a bit boring, but musically it's awesome. Love the guitars here.

Yup, "No Sunlight" from Death Cab's Narrow Stairs. I agree, the lyrics aren't mindblowing in this one, but I really like the music. :) This one's pretty new for me to, I'm still getting to know the album.

Track 9: This guy has a weird voice. This is another electronic track with a really nice beat. The guitar part in the middle is a nice touch but I still don't like the guy's voice.

This is Spoon, a band from Austin, TX (my hometown). This song is "Who Makes Your Money" from their new album, Transference. I rather like the singer's (Britt Daniel) voice. Their stuff is just a little different, and I think pretty interesting.

Track 10: Something in this song sounds familiar. Perhaps the structure or the lyrics. Admittedly, the phrase "I thought I knew you" probably occurs in loads of songs. Anyway, it's a cool pop/rock song.

The title is "I Thought I Knew You." It's by Matthew Sweet.... he was pretty big on the alternative scene in the early 90's. This, to me, has always been the ultimate we-broke-up-and-you-suck song. Love it. It's from the album, Girlfriend.

Track 11: This song starts with some awesome drums. The song is pretty laid back and the vocalist has a nice voice. I like it.

This is from one of my favorite female vocalists, Fiona Apple. It's called "Paper Bag" and it's from her crazily titled album, "When the Pawn..." This is one of my favorites from that album. Love the drums, piano and lyrics.

Track 12: I'm loving the guitar melody here! This is a really relaxing song with some sweet lyrics.

The beautiful, "All My Days" by Alexi Murdoch. This one is actually from the soundtrack for the movie, Away We Go. Alexi did the bulk of the music for the movie. I saw it and knew I had to get the soundtrack. I LOVE his voice. :wacky:

Track 13: This song is a bit more rocky, which creates a nice contrast with the previous song. It's an okay song, not really special, but definitely not bad either. The vocals are pretty good.

"Obscurity Knocks" from the now-defunct Scottish band, Trash Can Sinatras. This is from the album, Cake. I looooved this album back when it came out, and I still do. It's all acoustic instruments, but they manage to create this incredibly full, lush sound. I also love all their clever lyrics.

Track 14: I already guessed from the posts in the thread that this track would be Jeff Buckley and I was right. This is Last Goodbye. Amazing song and a good choice for the tape.

 Yep, my absolute favorite song from the amazing Jeff Buckley, off his near-perfect album, Grace.

Track 15: Tegan and Sara! Probably a song from their latest record as I don't recognize it. *browses iTunes* I bet it's Hell. :D

 Yep again! Tegan and Sara's "Hell." It's from their new album, Sainthood, which I actually don't have. I need to try it out, since I really like this song.

Older U2. Yeah, this is older... like me. :P It's "Red Hill Mining Town," from the classic album, The Joshua Tree. I can definitely agree with your feelings about Bono... I can do without a lot of his little quirks, but PLEASE don't let that keep you from checking out this album and their early stuff. If you like "Red Hill" even a little bit, you will LOVE The Joshua Tree.

Track 17: I don't recognize this song, but could this be Neko Case? I've been listening to The New Pornographers a lot lately. This is a solid song, the first song by a female vocalist on this tape that I really like. The "hold on hold on hold on hold on" part is amazing.

:D Yes! It's Neko Case, "Hold On, Hold On" from her album, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood. She has an AMAZING voice. I'm glad you liked this one! I've heard of the New Pornographers, but haven't actually heard any of their stuff... I guess I should check them out if I like Neko.

Track 18: R.E.M.! But which song? *thinkthinkthink* Ah, it's Half A World Away from Out Of Time. Loveitloveitloveit, both the song and the album.

 I love R.E.M. This is one of my favorite by them. :wacky:

Track 19: This is an awesome song. It's got a big bandish feel with the trumpets and the (slightly over the top) background choir. This guy has an amazing voice. Slightly hoarse (I guess) but a nice tone.

:D This is "You are the Best Thing" by an awesome singer/songwriter named Ray LaMontagne. This is from the album, Gossip in the Grain. If you like this, you should check him out... you won't be disappointed!

Track 20: Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere you are standing right in front of meheeeee. The video for this song is just beyond cute.

:wacky: Snow Patrol, "Signal Fire." This version is off their new compilation, Up to Now. I am currently loving this song.

Track 21: This is an appropriate last song ("here is where the story ends"), but I'm a bit indifferent to the singer.

I thought it was appropriate, too. it's "Here's Where the Story Ends" by the Sundays, from From one of my favorite albums of the 90's, Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. I love Harriet Wheeler's voice and find their music to be really lovely.

I really liked this tape, you have a good taste in music. My favourites were 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 14, and 18 though I can honestly say I liked all songs even though I'm not big on female vocalist (I get bored rather easily by them). Excited to find out the artists. :D

Glad you liked it overall! I actually made a concerted effort to put a few more female vocalists on my mix, because I originally had none! I hope you found at least a couple of new artists you're interested in hearing more from! :nice:

Thanks again, to you and Clem for the reviews! :nice:

I got a review, I love you :kiss::kiss::kiss:

now why can't I multiquote

1. This one is very snythy and ethereal. The female voice here is very pretty. I don't believe this is English that they're singing in. There's not much in content, but there doesn't have to be. This is a simple and nice was to open the tape.

1. Enya - Deireadh An Tuath (The Celts, 1992)

It's in Irish Gaelic.

2. Suede - Everything Will Flow (Head Music, 1999)

I like 90s music, this is one of them. I don't see country though. Maybe it's because I already know that they are British.

3. When I first heard this, I thought of KT Tunstall. The more I listened, though, I figured out that it's not her, even though it sounds a lot like her. At any rate, I rather like KT Tunstall, so the comparison to her has to be some sort of sign. This is a nice acoustic number.

3. Norah Jones - Young Blood (The Fall, 2009)

Nope, not KT Tunstall, it's Norah Jones. Can you believe how much she transforms?? She's so good in this album. This song is kind of folk meets rock and roll with I-don't-know-what-the-hell-is-she-talking-about lyrics, using vampire and werewolves metaphor and all.

4. Inva Mula-Tchako - Il Dolce Suono (Lucia di Lammermoor)/The Diva Dance (The Fifth Element: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 1997)

I can't believe you recognise this song :o:o:o I'm so in LOVE with this one. Great, great performance by Inva Mula. I was kind of disappointed when I learned that digital alteration had been performed in order to let such composition be possible. But it was to be expected since the composition is simply to crazy for human voice.

Translation:

The sweet sound, hits me, his voice!

Ah, that voice into my heart decends!

Edgardo, I surrender to you

A chill creeps into my breast!

trembles every fiber!

falters my foot!

Near the fountain next to me sit a while!

5. Anda - Tentang Seseorang (Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 2002)

This isn't a happy go lucky song, it's a love song, a desperate-ish one, sang in Indonesian. Indonesian music is crappy, shitty, tacky... you name it! This is one of the better. It's a number from a movie called "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?" (What's Up With Love?). I don't like the movie :D.

Translation:

About Someone

For you is my heart

I want to let out my voice

(to) ensemble every question

(and) images that passes by

(I'm) walking on a single

question that always bothers me ( : )

is it you that someone, love?

To the dearest

I want to complain

(about) all the restlessness in me

looking for a clear answer

Will someone that I've been dreaming of come?

a gentle visage enfolds my heart

Love is only love

(my) life and death are for you

Could it be that all (of my) questions (,)

you will answer

And about someone

that is you as well

I swear I will love

6. Martika - Love, Thy Will Be Done (Martika's Kitchen, 1991)

Believe it or not this is the first song that I fell in like on the first sight (yes, sight!), and it was 5 years ago. I saw the video on MTV and simply fell for it. I don't know why, it's certainly not the most well composed or well written or well produced song in anything but I just like it. I like her soothing alto (although I get annoyed by the shooting high-pitched voices ).

7. Enya - Eclipse (On My Way Home Single, 1996)

This song is actually a mirrored song of Deireadh An Tuath (a.k.a. Track 1). She didn't only do flipping the song but she re-compose the song and recorded it again so that it sounds like a reversed Track 1. Similar to backmasking, but not actually backmasking. And this song acts as the mirror of the whole mixtape :devilish:

8. Elbow - Weather To Fly (The Seldom Seen Kid, 2008)

This one mirrors Track 6. This time it's Guy Garvey's soothing baritone accompanied by high pitched voices of I'm-not'sure-who-but-I-believe-it's-also-him. This time the high pitched voices don't annoy me. You should get their album, it's awesome. They opened for Coldplay, and they kicked VLVODAAHF butt at the Brit with this album. Even Coldplay praise them. They are THAT good.

9. Deep Forest featuring Anggun - Deep Blue Sea (Music Detected, 2002)

No, Anggun is a woman. And no, it's Indonesian, thus mirrors Track 5. This is the best song ever written in Indonesian. They captured the essence of Indonesian traditional music in melody and incorporate it in all modern music. This is soooooooooooo Indonesian. The most sad, baffling, and embarassing fact about this song is that it was composed by two French guys (Deep Forest) :wtf:

10. Sarah Brightman - Eden (Eden, 1998)

This actually is a cover of a song with the same title by Hooverphonic. I picked this song because it mirrors track 4. While Il Dolce Suono is a more traditional classical piece (although sprinkled with a BIG twist at the end) this song uses Classical (okay, not actually classical) in a whole modern (90s) music. I like this better than the original one.

See, another comparison to Kaiser Chiefs; I aoutomatically thought of Peanut there. :laugh4: I could definitely listen to more of this. The ending is a bit weird, though; I think it's because it ends on a VII chord.

11. Shearwater - Century Eyes (Rook, 2008)

The claimed themselves as folk band. I don't think they are that much of a folk band. They're just an awesome band which never got the appreciation that they deserve. I first got to know this band from the last Mixtape exchange (oh, this thing is a blessing) from burningmonk. I immediately fell in love. Their upcoming album "The Golden Archipelago" is due to release at 02/18 worldwide and 02/25 in USA. Get them!!!! They're nothing like Kaiser Chief, they are very different, although I can see where you're coming from. It's funny because I can't stand Kaiser Chief while I really, really, really LOVE this band.

12. The 12th track didn't work, for some reason. Sorry. :\

12. Muse - Exogenesis: Symphony: Part 3 (Redemption) (The Resistance, 2009)

Don't play it in iTunes, I don't know why it never works (iTunes sucks, everything else rocks!!!). As you might have expected, this one mirrors Track 2 in a way that it sports a heavy use of strings. Muse rocks!!! Muse classics!!! Whatever!!!!

13. OK, this is definitely the same artists as Track 1. The songs aren't the same, but they sound almost identical. I'm thinking I got a three-part thing throughout this tape. At least it's consistent in the sense of ending with what you started.

13. Enya - Dan Y Dŵr (The Celts, 1992)

Yep, it's her again. It's actually uses the same melody as Track 1. The only difference is the lyric (and the song length). This one is in Welsh.

Overall, I liked this album. As I said, Track 4 made my day. That track alone makes the mix awesome. :) Other than that, I didn't recognize anything, which is a good thing, since I like figuring out new things.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, I'm so glad you didn't slaughter me with words. I don't know what I would do without you (now that is over the top)

This playlist is not actually the playlist I wanted to be. I realised that it needs some slight reordering after I uploaded it and PM'd TheEscapist. Anyway here you are.
