hey. that is so cool!

I really started to like them when I heard Speed of Sound for the first time. I had heard of them and I do remember liking "The Scientist" video before that, but I guess it wasn't the right timing. Once I got hooked though, there was no going back.

EDIT:

Also I have an early memory of Coldplay that makes me wince now when I think about it but I do remember seeing the "Yellow" video on MTV2 when it first came out. I was around 10 or 11 I think, and I sadly recall thinking it was stupid and saying it was a dumb song! Can you believe it?! I clearly ate my words a few years later. I was young and naive...and crazy.

yeah me too! I remember i really loved Speed of Sound and then I heard Fix You and I was like, "okay. i really need to start listening to Coldplay." my sister had AROBTTH so i listened to it and became absolutely addicted to them because i loved The Scientist so much. I would still have to say that it's my favorite song because its so sentimental. :) its the song that truly got me in love with Coldplay.

I took my kids to see the Peter Pan movie and fell in love with Clocks - I'd heard of them and liked "Yellow" but hearing Clocks is what did it for me. Kind of cliche, I know.

Politik on the Grammys in 2002? 2003? I can't remember. But it was love. :wacky:

^ I assume 2003, since that's the year Clocks won.

Yup, that's it! I always forget. :(

Ever since, it's my ringtone. :D I take my time before answering my cellphone. :laugh3:

i knew them but i didnt love their music [shame on me :d] and then i saw them in Live 8 in London [2005] then i realised that they're the best band ever :D

I first heard Viva La Vida on the radio a few times over summer thinking that it was an okay song. I first really paid attention ( because my mom scolded my dad who didn't knwo who coldplay is) was listening to it when I was leaving for church camp at 5 am in august '08. Then I thought I found a band I could get into. The next thought was " I shouldn't get to into it, they probably do drugs." ( I know, I had no Idea) . Then I was thinking of getting VLV on itunes, but instead of just the song, my mom got the album from the library. I originally listened to just the song, then I put the album on when I got my new ipod touch in october. I also rmember watching the VLV video and thinking " Wow. That singer spases a lot. He looks like Hugh laurie." I decided to get prospekt's march. I decided to get Fix you and SoS. I later learned that a lot of songs were coldplay and I didn't know it, like Talk or In my place. Then I got obsessed.

I read the Rolling Stone interview with Chris and thought it was hilarious and then I got Coldplay as a Genius result on iTunes then I found this site and now I'm a Coldplay fan. :)

Every morning in 2002 I'd watch MuchMusic and "In My Place" would be playing, so I immediately started loving that song. Wasn't till a couple months later (once Clocks came out) that I would constantly hear it at La Ronde (amusement park here), and that song is really what made it such a memorable summer on all the rides with my friends....then I got AROBTTH and was hooked! So since 2003 I've been an avid fan....a little tooo crazy of a fan...

X & Y was given to me as a present no idea who from but I must have liked them because I don't normally receive CDs.

I went on a road trip in 2005 and I listened to it for a week straight I became so into it.

Then lost the CD.

When I heard Coldplay where coming to NZ I new I liked them so brought Viva and from then on the obsession has gotten bigger.

When I first saw them 10 feet away from me - I felt their brilliance and their show was so out of this world. So makes sense to love something so great.

Also I started watching the youtube interviews and Chris is the funniest guy - obsession is fueled by youtube :P.

;)Interesting thread!;)

I first listen to Coldplay in 2000, the song was "Yellow". Then I was gradually becoming more and more linked/interested in their music.

Now whenever a Coldplay song is played on the radio or tv or public place I start to sing along.:P

I was 10 so I kinda grow up listening to them.

man, I love your signature!

I remember that i had In My Place, Clocks and Speed Of Sound in my iPod a long time ago without even knowing who exactly were those guys. Then one day I went to see my Hairdresser and he gave me a lot of new music (yeah, sounds weird indeed). The VLV album was in there. I completly fell in love with that music because i found it really inspirating, and since I write a lot, i listened to that all the time.

I knew coldplay since AROBTTH because my little sister liked them and of course I heard "clocks" and "in my place" on the radio all the time. I thought that "the scientist" was a great song, but didn't really mind it. For me Coldplay was only another trivial band...

Then there was "viva la vida"! I knew it from the radio and thought it's nice - but nothing more...

On an evening in December I was home alone and saw a short excerpt from "viva la vida" on tv. I don't know why, but I searched the video on youtube.

I sat infront of my laptop and watched it and suddenly I started to cry. Don't know why, but

it was mind-blowing!

From that moment I adore Coldplay! (and spend too much time on http://www.coldplaying.com...;))

On the radio they always play Yellow and Clocks... sometimes I would hear Speed of Sound... one day i finally decided to figure out what the heck was the idea behind these guys... And then I saw The Last Kiss and they play Warning Sign, that's when i found out me & Coldplay were meant to be...... that was last summer.... almost 1 year of Coldplay in my life...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got truly into them around the time of the release of Speed Of Sound, in 2005. I was completely OBSESSED with that song at the time. Later I bought X&Y and the rest is history! :D

When I heard yellow on the radio and decided to go check the group out.....been hooked since then

My friend lent me Viva La Vida and I put it on my iTunes. I though it was good on first listen, but the more and more I listened the better it got. Eventually I decided to get AROBTTH, I loved that, then X & Y and Parachutes followed (both excellent). Then I found this forum :P
