Hello fellow Coldplay fans!

A few months ago, my friend and I started covering a few Coldplay songs. We then decided to form an "acoustic band". After thinking for hours, we came up with "ColdKovers" (the K just looked so much cooler than the C)

We started off with a few songs from the A Rush of Blood To The Head album (which we are almost done covering) and played The Scientist for our first gig at a school show of 400 people.

Our ultimate goal however, is to cover all four albums including their singles. Sounds absurd but we know we can do it and to do so, we need the support of people who actually enjoy and love Coldplay the same way we do. We want your honest opinion so that we can improve our upcoming videos. From instrument suggestions to vocal tips and so forth.

We would be extremely grateful if you would watch our videos. We are not spamming the forums, we just need your support, which is the key to our success.

Thank you,

ColdKovers.

p.s.: Here is the link to the account itself; there are 6 videos in total and they are all on your right.

It works with some words, but no... just no.

It's great that you followed your love for music to put this together! :nice: It may get more attention in the Coldplay or band thread in the Word of Music (?). I'll definitely check them out though. :wacky:

Montreal. :wacky:

I think they're looking for fans and constructive criticism.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with this :laugh3:

Also indeed :P But he also asked for tips in the message :awesome:

I didn't check it out yet tbh, will do that later! :)

Well, you wanted advice, I gave you what I first noticed :laugh4:

Ask Technicolor Liver he has this awesome band and he posts here.

I've checked it out.. and some things.

- First, get a drummer or drummachine.

- Find another singer.

- Get better audio recording

And if you wan't to go professional.

- Change room setup so the guitar won't be behind the piano.

- Get another mic stand that can be put over the piano.

- Learn the songs better before making any videos.

- Get better video quality and advertising.

My advice is to write your own music.

What a waste of time learning every Coldplay song, that's insane, nobody really cares about Coldplay anymore. And christ, I thought I was a bad singer, you need to listen to your voice objectively because something's not right if you think that sound's good or passable.

Yes, as a matter of fact our first song is almost done, after spring break it should be ready for you guys to view

Yeah, honestly a Coldplay cover band with a hint of Johnny Cashitis (in a bad way) is not going to change the world.

@ Prospekt: Our first song should be ready by the end of spring break, we were working on it a while ago

@ PianoRocker: Thanks a lot for the advice, we changed our style and I changed the way I sing since those vids. I know my voice isn't nice at all but I'm trying my best to improve it although its just hard for me to sing in a high pitch. This is a studio we went to a few times so we cant really move the piano around. The sound also sucks because we didn't have the other camera that day. Video editing is also something I'll start doing. But the main problem now is my voice.. I might just go for vocal lessons. We don't have a drummer nor a bassist with us because its a small studio and the drums arent allowed there. Expect to see a bassist and a drummer for the next vids if I do want want to make more some day. But for now, with such a voice, I'll just stop recording.

@ Briggins and Reilly: We aren't trying to "change the world". I tried my best, to then learn from my mistakes. What, you expect me to just be perfect in our first few videos? No, the videos were not good, I know that and we will get better. But dont just tell me "Nobody likes Coldplay anymore". You are wrong. Just because you personally dont like Coldplay that much, that doesn't mean everybody is like you. You think it's a waste of time, thank you for your opinion, but just don't come here again

You asked for constructive criticism (You're welcome, by the by), and on a wide-scale, people really don't care about Coldplay anymore. You may get select groups of spread-out people who would like to see/hear a Coldplay coverband, but they aren't like AC/DC or something. In fact if anything since around 2006ish Coldplay have become the new "Oh I remember when I used to like..." joke band, a bit like RATM.

And yes, we expected you to be perfect in your first few videos. That's what we said. When Briggins said this 'isn't going to change the world' he meant that literally you are intending to change the world. Yes.

To be honest, maybe writing his own stuff isn't such a good idea, some people just lack the ability to be original and I imagine any songs he would write would sound like toned down versions of Coldplay songs, therefore he would remain equally irrelevant.

So, he should just do nothing? Haha.

Hands up if you listen to any cover bands or find albums of cover songs all by one artist remotely interesting.

(p.s. if we get enough hands raised I may consider starting up a Beatles cover band and naming them something along the lines of water you would find in the desert. And maybe invite my brother to join in and help even though I don't really get along with him. And maybe we'll break up after we realize we can't work together and are sort of irrelevant. And then maybe I'll start my own band without my brother and call it that place in the desert with water 2.0. And then I'll remember it is a shit name and not go with that. And maybe....)
