Annie Levitz, 16, lost the feeling her hands because she was spending so much time typing messages on her mobile phone. At her worst, she was sending more than 100 texts every day. And the American student - whose school pals have dubbed her 'Carpal Tunnel Girl' – has admitted most of the messages she sent were pointless. Surgery: Annie Levitz, 16, lost the feeling her hands because she was spending so much time texting She said: ‘It's not even good texts. ‘It's like, "Hey, hey, what's up? What's up? Not much." Just ridiculous texting. I'm learning not to do [it] anymore.’ Annie said that she got scared after she began to develop pain. ‘I started losing feeling in my hands and they'd go numb,’ she explained. ‘I'd go to pick up dishes and things and they'd just fall out of my hands.’ Doctors then diagnosed Annie, a pupil at Adlai Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois, about 35 miles north of Chicago, and fitted braces on her wrists. But Annie will still have to go under the knife in a bid to relieve her discomfort. Her mother, Carrie Levitz, said she couldn’t take the phone away from Annie because it was her ‘whole social life’. ‘Sure, I've thought about it. But if you have teens you know that doesn't work,’ she said. ‘When we found out what it was carpal tunnel syndrome, I was just angry.' However, the condition hasn’t deterred Annie from texting – and the teenager still manages to send out up to 2,000 messages a month. March 19, 201016 yr Pisses me off when I work my ass of trying to fix my hand problems and some fucktards come along and ruin perfectly good hands by texting like idiots. I wish I could type extended periods of time without pain so I can take notes in college next fall. Pisses me off to see people take things like that for granted.

March 20, 201016 yr Seriously though, 100 texts a day is nothing, I have friends who get up to 1000 everyday. One weekend I had so many texts my parents decided to change our cell phone plan. :P
