UGH!

You know I bet it was because they didn't bother to turn up. How much does it take to give up a few hours? Echs

No award?? Waaaaaaah... I was quite sure they were gonna win for Best Video. :(

Yeah, I think it has been tonight...

I think it was Mimi who told here that Jonny and Chris were in Chicago recording some demos in Chicago. But I'm not sure now... And no idea with Guy and Will (I bet they're with their girls...) :wink3:

Radiohead won them fucking all

The Sun agrees with me (did I just type that? :stunned: ) they say the reason Coldplay were snubbed (and The Darkness) was because they didn't turn up! Grrr

Coldplay at back of awards Q

COLDPLAY were the surprise losers at this year’s Q Awards. They were nominated for four awards at last night’s ceremony but came away empty handed.

Instead, RADIOHEAD beat them to the title of Best Act In The World.

There was surprise that Coldplay also failed to pick up gongs for Best Single (Clocks), Best Video (The Scientist) and Best Live Performers.

The band — who recently picked up three prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards and have also scooped two Grammys — stayed away from the ceremony at London’s Park Lane Hotel saying they were taking a break after a year of touring.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA walked away with the Best Single for Dirrty, ELECTRIC SIX won best video for Gay Bar and ROBBIE WILLIAMS’s sell-out Knebworth gigs earned him Best Live Act.

BLUR won best album for Think Tank, while THE THRILLS picked up the Best New Act award and MUSE won the Innovation Award

The awards, hosted by RI:SE presenter IAIN LEE, also honoured some veteran bands.

THE CURE won the Inspiration Award, DEXY’S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS won the Songwriter Award and US rockers JANE’S ADDICTION won the Icon Award.

DURAN DURAN picked up a Lifetime Achievement gong — just as they did at the MTV awards in New York in August.

Guests at the bash included LIBERTY X, TRICKY and EMMA BUNTON. The Q Awards will be show on Channel 4 on Monday.

NEWTON'S THEORY

Silly snub is sign of the times

THIS is a bad year for the Q Awards, which is normally the most credible ceremony on the British music calendar.

Coldplay’s snub is plain silly.

We are talking about the global flagbearers for British music, arguably the world’s biggest rock band at the moment.

I wonder if the fact they couldn’t be at the ceremony had anything to do with the decision.

The UK’s most exciting rock band THE DARKNESS were similarly ignored (again, they couldn’t turn up) and gongs seem to have been handed out on the basis of an RSVP.

BLUR winning best album and MUSE’s innovation award are cases in point. Yes, CHRISTINA AGUILERA’s Dirrty is a great pop single — but the best of the year?

As for the turn out?

LIBERTY X, EMMA BUNTON, NICKI CHAPMAN and FIVE STAR — at times it felt like I was at the Smash Hits Awards.

Oh for the good old days when LIAM GALLAGHER squared up to DAMON ALBARN and Robbie.

The Q organisers need to be careful.

They risk today’s biggest stars turning their backs on what was once the coolest rock date in the calendar.

It's disapointing they didn't win any at all, but I don't think they'll dwell on it for ages.

Whoever decides who the winner's are must have a rock for a brain seriously...I mean GAY BAR won over The Scientist? Riiiiiiiighteo.

about time someone ranked their award on musical ability over popularity

YAY FOR RADIOHEAD

but booo for coldplay

I want to take you to a GAY BAR GAY BAR GAY BAR!!!!!

well I do love Radiohead and I've always thought they were the best band in the world but I like their old stuff better like 'The Bends' album, they have gotten too arty and they said they were going to return to guitar rock for their latest album but still didn't, they are liars. Coldplay is the best band at the moment Radiohead used to be.

I think it was Mimi who told here that Jonny and Chris were in Chicago recording some demos in Chicago. But I'm not sure now... And no idea with Guy and Will (I bet they're with their girls...) :wink3:

thx sweetheart!!

and wtf christina aguilera??????????

omg i was so shocked!!! esp after the amount of times i'd turn on Q and coldplay would be playing!! they are prob the most played band on that station but don't get a fuckin award for it!!!

but im glad radiohead and muse won :)

Oh man... What's better at Radiohead than at Coldplay

And "dirrty" the best Single... nothing against Christina but this song is not nearly as good as "Clocks"

The Electric Six Video for "Gay Bar" is very funny... difficult decision...

But, believe me, Robbie is the better life act. He's probably the best live act in the world. Giving him the award is fair...
